It's a UFO (or multiple) alright. What rules out the lanterns for me is the fact that they seem to move at the same speed, at the same distance and at the same height all together.

The fact that they move at the same speed, distance and height would explain why they are lanterns.

I live just south of Tampa. A friend and I were at the warehouse where I worked and we started seeing them come over the St. Pete area. They were floating south. First we seen 1 then 5 then 10 then 50 and we were sort of worried that we were watching something when we should be running. As these HUGE lights start to come over our direction it appears were trying to land! I picked up about 7 of them off the ground, even trying to catch them before they hit the ground. Looks like it might have been a wedding or something. The flame on these things was kinda big and a few were not out when the lantern hit the ground igniting the whole lantern.. I imagine if this fell on someones rooftop and catching fire while i am watching. It looked like an Alien Invasion but was nothing more then some type of flying lantern. They were made of white paper on nothing more then a wire hanger

- Weather balloons?
- Flocks of birds illuminated by city lights from below?
- Chaff?
- Propaganda leaflets?

I'm sure there are others.
