I'm not sure if anyone else caught this detail from the NY Times article about Adam Lanza:
The holiday card to Mr. Lanza from his mother contained a check that specified that the money was to buy a “C183 (Firearm),” the documents say.
a C183? Well, I did a few searches and found no guns, but I did find quite a few of these:
I tried for about 10 minutes to find any kind of gun that had the C183 designation. I've never heard of it, and apparently I'm not the only one:
What is a C183? I have never heard of a firearm by this model. It is a 14 megapixel camera. Did some uninformed journalist see C183 and just assume it
was a gun? I have seen multiple cable news reporters repeating this same mistake and I’ve never heard of any gun by this model name

Can anyone else that is more knowledgable about firearms help out? Does such a weapon exist? If not, what is your opinion on this "accident" via the
The New York Times isn't the only MSM to report the same thing:
This CNN article
also talks about the "C183".
If this really is a failure of our MSM and not a conspiracy, then it's an entire discussion unto itself.
