I looked around a little, there's a story from the AP that says the shotgun was found in the "Passenger compartment" meaning it could be in the side door, floor area or under the seat. It seems faux news assumes that "passenger compartment" means "glove compartment" and aren't smart enough to realize that a shotgun won't fit in a glove compartment.

It makes me question their intelligence and knowledge of cars as well as guns (things most "conservatives" pride themselves on).

Anyway, I'm still disgusted with the lies in the "news story" and thank the OP for bringing it to light.

I don't care what "station" it comes from, any of them that make false accusations to this extent should be banned from journalism. I was going to go ahead and blast huffingtonpost, which is where the story is that says "passenger compartment", but they didn't say "glove box" anywhere.... but I'm sure they probably reported falsehoods too in the 3 month period. If they can pointed out like this one has been, they should be banned from journalism too.

Good job OP

Ownership isn't always the issue as they can be stolen. Instead of worrying about ownership, we need to enforce laws that already exist and actually punish crimes that are committed using firearms. It's not the guns committing the crimes, it's the idiots using the guns that are committing the crimes. There are a lot more responsible gun owners (or wielders) than irresponsible ones. In order to prevent gun crimes, punish the ones that are caught to an extent that people will think twice, even three or four times, before even considering it.

Taking guns away isn't the answer, forcing people to be responsible with them by making examples of the people who aren't would go much, much further.

Just my opinion.

I don't trust Fox News, either, but CBS news said the same thing about the the gun being in the glove compartment.

Reuters didn't mention anything about a gun being found in a 'compartment'.

And there were a few first-graders killed.

There's so much we just don't know. I think the news reporters are just as confused as we are and are reporting information that is given to them.

I am loathe to tell people what to do, but IMO you should never hesitate to post something unless it is extremely offensive or obscene; readers of threads should expect anything and everything to be posted on ATS thus never be shocked or offended, and if they are they can just move on.

Expressing shock or outrage at threads they don't consider "appropriate" at ATS is just ego and a waste of time.

Thank you for your thread, and please never feel the need to apologize for a thread (just do a search before starting one!).

Yeah, we should just completely get rid of that whole "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" thing too. Dern pesky Constitution. There are background checks and waiting periods. More laws will not help. We need to better enforce what is already written.

I agree that the article has some facts that certainly contradict the bedtime story we were all told, but, from what I've heard, it's always been 1st graders that were shot.
I think the Op is confusing the lies about Nancy Lanza being a kindergarten teacher with the victims being in kindergarten.
It's all good though, Op. It's very difficult keeping all the lies straight.

In my own mind/opinion, seeing it's faux news verifies already that it's false without even having to read it, but all, every single one of them, mainstream news sources are guilty to some extent. It's disgusting and intolerable for them to do things like this.

not really...that's why for years now i haven't watched FOX NEWS...do others makes mistakes? of course, but FOX is in a whole new catagory by itself. they make forrest gump look intelligent.

I guess poor journalism is automatically ruled out, huh?

Better to turn it into a conspiracy...

Forget what fox says, what do the documents they're reporting on say?

Finding a mistake by fox is like finding a freckle on a ginger! (No offence to gingers...)

We shouldn't need to be waiting for a confirmation one way or another from a court of law, before we determine whether someone was a suitable candidate for ownership of a firearm.

All those things show me is that the people writing the article and the person editing the article have no real knowledge of guns or they cannot properly evaluate what they are told. Overeducated people mess up often because they think what they know is complete and correct. Someone who is just out of college will often think they know more than they do. Experience tied to common sense and adequate education is best.

I think the biggest problem you and many others here on ATS face has to do with your choice of news sources.

From the beginning, it was reported that the children killed in the massacre were between the ages of 6 & 9. Six & nine year old children are beyond their kindergarten years, so common sense would tell us that these were not kindergarteners. I also heard from the beginning that he had used an AR-15 to commit the bulk of the shootings in the school and that he then used one of the two handguns he had on his person to kill himself. Furthermore, I also heard that law enforcement had found a 12 gauge automatic shotgun in the "passenger compartment" of the car. Initial reports stated that the police put the shotgun into the trunk for safe keeping during the initial response/investigation. If my memory serves me right, I believe the shotgun was a Russian made model similar to this one;

Although, I seem to remember that the shotgun depicted in the beginning had a "drum" magazine as opposed to the "clip" style pictured above and yes, they are capable of holding 35 round magazines.

If you would quit listening to people like Alex Jones and/or Fox News you would discover that the original story is actually pretty damn consistent with these more recent news releases. IMO, the only people who can't see the truth are those who refuse to believe the truth.

While I would agree that we need to enforce gun laws already in place, we seem to have a problem when it comes to properly funding those charged with the enforcement task. It's no different than the underfunding of offshore oil rig inspections intended to ensure compliance with drilling safety standards prior to the BP disaster or the underfunding of the agencies tasks with enforcing the nation's banking regulations leading up to the economic collapse, etc...

This phenomena of underfunding enforcement agencies has become the status quo for the GOP in congress. Any time they, (the GOP) disagrees with a regulatory measure enacted by congress, their standard "Plan B" approach to the problem is to underfund the agency responsible for enforcement thereby nullifying the effects of the regulation. They've also done this with Planned Parenthood and promised to do the same thing with respect to The Affordable Care Act. Pure obstructionism!

If you're wondering who is actually responsible for lack of enforcement, you need not look any further than the same group of people who are always screaming about how over-regulated we are.

Why does the MSM have to be right about anything, no one ever calls them on it and the people that support the liberal socialist MSM are non info types that haven't got a clue about anything except when there next check or phone are in the mail.

More to the point if these types of people (liberals) don't have a problem killing babies when there a few minutes old and breathing then why would they have a problem using murdered school children to further there agenda, after all neither of these types of children can vote or pay tax so use them anyway you can get away with.

The real bottomfeeders are the parents of these children that allow this to happen, the liberal Dems are just doing what comes natural................just my opinion.

There may be 'Sleeping masses' who pay no attention to the news, or trust and believe everything on it, BUT just us respondents to this post show many are not sleeping or unaware. If you ask me there are Legions of informed, not easily fooled people who Do care, and will question everything.

There was an agenda with the news reporting of the shooting, and maybe it WAS written so lie filled and absurdly so as to alert people that it was not what it seemed.
Maybe the writers were more clever than the LEO's or the government shills.

Alex Jones has been extremely accurate with everything he has said thus far. And all he has said with regards to Newtown is that it is looking very suspicious and there are alot of red flags. He said Aurora was definitely staged. Anyone who does a little digging can find some pretty glaring red flags in both scenarios.

edit: And don't bring up Y2K, cause he didn't say the world was going to end. He said there would probably be computer related stuff happening, and there was.

Really, in there? Only way it would fit is if it were sawed off but even then i'm not entirely sure.

Sometimes I wonder if the whole "Obama hates Fox News" is just a ruse to sucker the masses. Much like worldwide wresting.

It is a game IMHO and the viewers are the ones being played. Truly I wish Americans would quit watching any MSM network news. All roads lead to government propaganda. FOX is the prostitute that feigns conservative values, giving the masses a false belief that we are not a regime.

Gun control is a must win for Obama & Co. If you can win the Fox viewers over to support gun control, you have accomplished a major hurdle in your goal. The heat is on now.
