Your brain is a radio station pumping out thousands of radio signals. It's broadcasting 24/7. Like a cb radio or any other it can be intercepted and translated by someone else.

Now imagine if there was a radio station that was built for the whole purpose of creating societal structure.

You need people who are of a certain psychology and you need people who are opposite.

So from top to bottom everyone is needed to make a SEEMINGLY real civilization. Like a farm where you can control the sex of chickens just by controlling the temperature. You could control the mentalities of millions just by controlling and manipulating brain signals.

Think of a prism it bends light and shows us the colors. Imagine if the light was brain signals that were being bent and sent in all directions. With everyones brains functioning different it's obvious different brains will pick up different frequencies of the same signal.

So imagine that the longest widest portion of this signal was say obedient. These people believe what they are spoon fed. Makes sense that you need an obedient mass majority.

The shortest and narrowest of the signal is independent thought. Makes sense since it would only take a small minority to run the masses and think up new directions for society and or contribute new inventions.

Makes them easier to control.

But what if this effects you all the way down to small decisions. You would normally sit at home and drink beer. You know anytime you leave the house drinking you put yourself in danger of being in trouble. But for some reason you don't think responsibly anymore. Could it be that you are being manipulated?

You know someone who is a calm collected individual. For some reason you start hating the person with no real reason. Anything said about the guy you believe. BUT you know the guy. None of that should make sense. But for some reason it does. And lets say you think he's a b****.

Does this mean you wish for this guy to bully you? Or is it that you have been manipulated by the machine?

Have you noticed thoughts you wouldn't normally have. Acted on them without contemplating if they just might not be the right way to think.

Meaning what if your mentality is being manipulated right before your eyes and you don't know it. Almost as if your brain is being rewired.

For example. Has anyone importantly a woman told you that things that used to be admired by women were now acts of being psychotic.

Where before say a woman lived for the day a man would adore and love her. Now that mentality is looked down upon and received with negativity.

Doesn't make sense right?

Maybe your thoughts are not your real thoughts! Ever thought about that?

In the book Brave New World people are manipulated by chemicals and are genetically engineered outside of the womb and then are grown in tubes.

They are chemically engineered to produce different personalities to fit different jobs. For example people who are teachers are programmed to be that way. And people who are servants are programmed to be that way.

Wouldn't it be more economical to do it with radio signals?

I'll bite.

It really depends on the level of manipulation and change you wish to enact upon people. People can be manipulated by media, music, commercials, movies, trends, etc, but all of these facets are 'open' for directed-manipulation against targeted groups of people. Thus the whole "Hip hop has been hijacked by the Illuminati" conspiracy. The thought is, manipulate people into wanting to do illegal drugs, sell them, have risky sex, and other egotistical things.

So if it came to manipulation through signals directed at the brain, thus interfering with 'natural' thought, you could essentially "put thoughts of your choosing into someone else's brain". These phenomena are playing out in our modern societies as we speak, to varying levels.

Now, as for chemical manipulation, manipulation through chemicals is what the Bible calls "Sorcery". Just think of drug lords that have hopelessly addicted customers. Those people will break the law, murder people, steal from people, DO ANYTHING to get more of that drug, BECAUSE .. when they dont have it in their brain, their brain is essentially VEXED; natural chemicals and natural receptors go haywire, the brain stops producing certain natural chemicals that get replaced by the drug. You could systematically rule an entire people through Sorcery.

This TOO is playing out in our modern societies; via Doctors and Pharmacies. It's acceptable to be HARDCORE prescription narcotics because someone with a college degree in medicine said so. Yet, that same person, should they seek out an illegal alternative to the prescription, even if it is nearly identical molecularly (heroin vs morphine, for instance), it is taboo and wrong. This is how they herd people into THEIR forms of acceptable Sorcery, Pharmakopiea.

Some medicines are very useful and needed, but there are just as many that ruin peoples minds and brains and lives, that they get prescribed on a daily basis. Take you out of the game; less competition, less trouble. Capitalism, dog eat dog. Or, dog ruin dog, so dog can eat other dogs FOOD.

Considering the power of some chemicals, if they were administered while you were in a test tube, or in the womb for that matter, you would likely be born in a such a state that you'd be easily controlled, dominated, and manipulated, from birth to death.

All of these things are exponentially increasing in our societies, or so it seems.

Interesting theory. Those "radio signals" delivered by the "prism mechanism" act like a metaphoric dog collar and leash, if used for manipulation. I believe those "radio signals and prism" are neutral. How they are used is controlled by the "Director" and their motives. Can those same "signals" be used to "guide" a individual/collective towards the proper direction? Good, bad and every possibility in between?

The brain and your consciousness works on many levels. Sometimes your subconscious can be working away on a problem without you even knowing about it.

Have you eve fallen over and found that you managed to break your own fall without even thinking about it? Its an example of the separate processes that constantly go on in the brain.

Have considered this before and feels to override the Programs you need mental strength and ways to prevent the thoughts of not your own from reaching you fully allowing you the opportunity to sense the Matrix behavior upon the mind. Interesting OP & has logic, connect it with the machine that sees thoughts and you got one powerful AI ran visual data base. Considering the MORE advanced version potentials.

Good posts. I think the easiest way to test this theory is over a period of time have people watch the evolutions of there thoughts on small things. Say for example if bad thoughts arise over something that shouldn't provoke those negative thoughts.

And on a realistic level you acknowledge that hey I shouldn't be thinking this way. Obviously there is outside influence!

im more interested in the BNW story itself and have some questions, if you dont mind.

first of all, is there an obvious claim that Lenina was a beta? if so why is she predominantly told to wear green all the time? isnt that the color of a gamma?

is Huxleys world a male dominated patriarchal one? since i cant remember an obvious line in the novel saying about a female member of the alpha caste. it seems all females are from beta caste.

is solidarity commune soma orgies attended by both castes, alpha and betas member?

are gammas taking soma too? are they supplied and allowed to consume soma?

or is it that gammas and deltas are the working class counterpart of, the gender oriented, alpha and beta of the ruler class?

finally got the mood to finish the novel yesterday. odd ending the clockwise feet, it was.

so my conclusion was; alpha, beta and epsilon was a single sex caste. alpha was male and beta has female only members. while epsilon consisted male asexual sterilized dwarfs.

gamma, delta and epsilon enjoyed soma on a ration based daily distribution. 4 half gram tablets after every work day, holiday to the far east. and six at saturdays, eternity on the moon.

gamma and delta consisted middle class workers of mixed male and females. both caste enjoyed soma stimulated orgies. but cant have soma anytime as they please, as was the case with alphas and betas.

betas date alphas only, it seems, but probably gammas too. both are the upper caste of Huxleys universe. but it was also mentioned, 70% of all female population are freemartins. even the head mistress of the upper school was a freemartin.

i assume, some betas are freemartins, and most female gammas are (or maybe all of them). and probably all female deltas are also freemartins.

at one point said, the social structure was modeled according an iceberg. the higher the caste, the smaller the number. so the number of beta non-freemartins might be 1:1 to all the number of alpha members. those who were beta freemartins are allowed to take high office positions as compared to alpha members.

one ninth above the waterline, might refer to alphas and beta freemartins.

Lenina doesnt seem to have a job in the entire course of the story. all she does was fooling around sexually with anyone, taking vacations with alpha members, taking somas, doing sports and enjoying feelies. at one time it was showed, although not obviously, she might have spent a night with the arch-community-songster.

only alpha plus members have the chance to make it to one of the 10 controllers office.

gamma male members served as law enforcer and security troops. as the two escorting Bernard from Monds office. while some gamma females were nurse at hospitals and dead houses? some worked in factories doing of the more complex work.

deltas were factory low workers. and their physique almost resembles of those a semi moron. while epsilons were compared as the slave caste of the Fordian system.

Not at all. It's true that your neurons have tiny ionic current flows lateral to the axons, but the rate at which this occurs is one that you couldn't muster up a proper radio emission (given the flow length) if you beat it with a tire iron. You end up with tiny electrical potentials and tiny magnetic fields, of the sorts you need direct contact to pick up, in the case of the magnetic field components, you need superconducting quantum detectors. But what you DON'T do is emit radio signals.

Unless you're talking about thermal microwave emissions.

Except, that's not the way it works. Of course, radio was immediately seized upon by the schizophrenics as soon as it started becoming popular. Fessenden had an interesting story about a schizo who showed up at the introduction of voice modulated radio with a pistol and demanded that he stop putting thoughts in his head with the new-fangled airwave machine. And of course, you can go back to the early 1800's and find accounts that are nearly identical (James Tilly Mathews).

Except not only are there no "obedience" frequencies, your brain isn't much of a receiver. And it's damned near impossible to emit radio on "brain wave frequencies" to boot. To think that there is a magic frequency for every sort of thought is simplistic to the point of absurdity.

What if you are having a wetware malfunction? Wouldn't it be attractive to blame the voices on some sinister outside force? Mathews blamed his schizophrenic behaviors on a magic machine called the AirLoom, which used magnetism and chemicals to influence his thoughts. Also gang stalking dwarves with bar magnets that controlled him via a magnet implanted in his brain. He really was the forerunner of many current net memes.

I've got a much simpler theory here. Have you considered that it's you? Not some transmitter, not some mind control alien, not messages from the TV, just you. And maybe you're getting worse, and now behaviors that were once perceived as ok are sort of going over the top but you can't tell that from where you're at. So it looks to you like you're doing the same sorts of things, but from the outside, it's gone from eccentric to omfg.
