That is a convenient way to look at it.

US sanctions against Japan led to WW2. Just because you think sanctions are oky dokey does not mean that the rest of the world does. But if you are the one doing the sanctions then it is fine.

Sanctions are the mainstay of bullies!

Right, so when the UNSC passes a resolution sanctioning North Korea somehow the US is the bully?

China, UK, France, or Russia could veto the measure unilaterally and the resolution dies on the spot. Do they? No. In fact, they voted in favor.

...and who is threatening war again?

I guess you need to rethink your position.

Well at least you have a conspiracy theory to retreat to.

You can take comfort in that.

Li'l Kim has what we refer to as an alligator mouth and a hummingbird azz. All it would take to shut him up is one of his generals finally getting a belly full of his smack talking and "whooping the fire out of him" to shut up his trash talking. Why someone hasn't done it already is a mystery!

I couldn´t agree more with phoenix358!

Korea was a beutiful country back in the days, a good country that was´nt posing a threat to the rest of the world, the crime they did? Well they where communist, and that was good enough reason for USA to bring their world known miracle doomacrazy. They shredded the country, killed civilians, brought misery, death, poverty, divided the country and thought they where gonna be loved by the Koreans?

North Korea fought for thier country in the end, showed into the corner by the bully of the world no:1. Sanctions upon sanctions just because they wanted to be left alone from the first place. Sanctions that doesn´t affect the people in power, but the humanbeings who are not in power, they starve because of the rest of the world could no allow Korea to be its own country, a country with a communist regim, instead of our gloryfying democrazy that is all so wonderfull and lovely that we just have to kill other non democrats to prove a point how great we are, and how wrong they are.

What can they win from an attack you say? What do they have to lose I say. N.Korea is on its bare knees, it has nowhere to go anymore. They got everything to win out of a war, because they have nothing to lose nomore. We in the west have raped that country so bad, because of what?

The Korean war was just another unfinnished war planned on a after-work dinner with a few to many beers.
A war that just brought more death and hate to the world.

Cute story. Too bad you made it all up.

In 1950 the US was downsizing its footprint in Korea and only had 500 KMAGs in country. The US even refused to send military aid to South Korea in January 1950.

In June of 1950 the North Koreans attacked South Korea. From there your whole story falls on its face.

In fact, the Soviet Union aided, if not outright planned, the North Korean attack.

Look it up, these are facts.

I doubt the New great leader will wage war on the south and america. He is just boasting his power so he doesn't look weak to his Dear coveted People... On a serious note I want to know who is truly in charge over there. I put my money on the hardliners in the military and not the dear leader.

They are only doing what China is telling them to do.

Once everyone wraps their head around who is really dictating the moves behind the scenes we might actually see what the end all agenda is for that region.

The system is broken so we are headed into interesting times in the world as whole countries try to look out for themselves and leaders look to do anything so they can remain in power.

Let's all hope that this does not come to pass. A nuclear blast on the Korean peninsula is supposed to precede the "Kill Shot" solar flare.

On the right track but it is not this minor scuffle you need worry about. DPRK are like little annoying toy dogs, lots of noise until you shoot them and then they go quiet.

I read that and almost spit my taquito on the computer. And why on earth use a gun, a rolled up newspaper ought to make them run and hide for a while, use the bullet for a better purpose!!!!!

Sure Russia used the North and even sponsored their invasion BUT...

in june ALSO truman commits full naval and air support to south korea. (actually 2 days after the nk invasion).
The americans were there from the beginning to end. From macarthur to Eisenhower... to... "stop communism".... actually eisenhower was there himself.

So... both sides have their fair share of guilt on that "hate and division" that goes on in that country for 70 years... congratulations for both of you, US and Russia - "sponsoring hate inside korean families since the 50s".

Please no "holier than thou" speeches about US and Korea...

EDIT: Oh and Truman, the little madman... also considered using a nuclear bomb on north korea. That tiny man really had an itchy trigger finger.

Yes, the rest of the world has crapped on their front lawn.

Not only we occupy half the Korean Peninsula and carry on psyop warfare exercises along the 38th parallel daily. Besides the Internet mongering threads that demonize little Uns little country.

I thought ATS was supposed to discredit the BS main stream media war mongering? How many Bash Korea threads have started lately? Parroting the Military & Corporate influenced Media seems to be the norm here now? For shame all the hate Korea thread starters / riders. You are either complicit to the Main Stream or blinded by it.

Ultimate trolls all.

Your facts fall short too. The WWII style invasion of Inchon was the result of the Norths retaking their country. Thats what we call the "Korean War" our forceful retaking of the Peninsula once we were spanked.

A full on amphibious assault mounted by General McArthur of Pacific WWII fame. Despite the entire combined land, sea and air might of the US military, it ultimately couldn't defeat the little guys and finally settled at the 38th parallel where it still occupies Korea to this day.

Re-writing History, much?

This looks like brinkmanship, and also as if NK are preparing for all out war.

This is most likely Kim shouting and ramping things up until the US/SK exercises are over and the US forces withdraw, then Kim can boast that NK saw off the US thanks to his divine rule etc etc.

There could be possibly an internal power struggle within NK just now where Kim is having to show his authority

The danger is that forces on both sides may get jumpy and a this leads to an incident that then escalates.
