It has begun. Minor quake sends people running into the streets in Mexico City.

Mexico City Earthquake 5.9

An aftershock quake with a 5.1 magnitude followed the main quake.

Quake alarms sounded? Where are the USA quake alarms?

The Emergency Broadcast System? I guess that will have to do.

March 11, 2013 an earthquake shook Southern California. 4.7 Magnitude

Around here, a 5.6 earthquake would be devastating. We have a lot of snow on the roofs around here. Then again, maybe the snow would jump off the roofs from the vibration or dampen it. Anyone live in Alaska that can let me know about this?

Epicenter of the quake was far away, however the earthquake was strong enough to

send people running into the streets of Mexico City.

The aftershock was also felt in Mexico City.

We will have to wait for more reports from cities closer to the epicenter.

I live in AK, right near MT. Redoubt, a volcano which has been rumbling a bit lately, ill be keeping an eye on it. If anything big happens I'm going directly to my phone and reporting it here on ATS.

Anyway, IMO, (im really not sure) the only way snow buildup on the roof would increase damage during a strong EQ would be if it was such an amount that should have already been removed in the first place, and the structure of your house is abnormally weak.....
