Back in 2004, I was living alone in an apartment. It was a seemingly normal duplex built sometime in the 60s-70s. It always had kind of a mildly odd feeling about it, which was most likely just my perception since it was always dark due to the interior finishings. It also felt much older than it was, but I can't understand why.

One afternoon, I was on the couch in the living room watching TV. I stood up to walk towards the kitchen. I took two or three steps, and a small, intense, white light appeared on the wall in front of me. It was about 1.5" in diameter. I was about 4 feet away from it. I stood there looking at it, not thinking it was all that odd. As I walked toward the kitchen, it moved down the wall. I stopped walking, and it disappeared a split second after I stopped moving. There was no way for any external light from outside to have been cast on that area of the wall, and I was wearing no reflective watch, jewelry, etc. It did not behave like a reflected light in any way. It wasn't shimmering, or "wobbly". It was like a very steady flashlight held closely to the wall. Still, I wasn't that irked by it. I just found it curious.

I immediately went into the kitchen to get a drink. Exiting the kitchen, I approached the transition from the kitchen to the family room, an identical light appeared on the floor about 2 feet in front of me, motionless. I stopped walking, and it stayed there. I began to walk forward, and it moved forward about 2 feet (still on the floor) as I walked. I stopped walking again, and it stopped once again. I remained standing there watching it, and it disappeared after a second or two. I just got the strangest sense that this light really wanted to make itself known to me. For what reason, I don't know. At the time I couldn't have imagined that this would have been something paranormal. But it was incredibly strange, and definitely freaked me out quite a bit.

The following weekend, my best friend since 2nd grade came in to town for a visit and to record some music. He slept on the couch. He arrived on a Friday. The morning after, the door to the spare bedroom where my computer and musical equipment was kept was shut and locked. It had one of those turn button locks on it. I asked him if he locked the door. He did not. This happened 3 or 4 times throughout the weekend, but only during the times we weren't there or had both gone to bed. It happened several more times the following week after he left.

The next part is what really concerned me. He said that he woke up several times throughout the night because a light kept waking him up. He would open his eyes to see a light/apparition (I can't recall the color) "swirling" around the room. This happened roughly 5 or 6 times throughout the night. He was pretty weirded out by it.

The final odd thing that I witness in that apartment concerned the TV. I was sitting on the couch, watching something. I was thinking about all of those strange things that happened in the previous week. At that time, the volume on the TV began going up until it was about to max out. I grabbed the remote, which was sitting on the arm of the couch and turned the volume down. I had that particular TV for 2 years prior to this, and 6 more years after. It never again did anything strange like that. So I really don't think it was malfunctioning in any way.

Has anyone else had anything similar to what I've described? That is the only place I've lived where I witnessed such strange happenings.

Hey there,

I may have had (and still having) the same phenomenon as you are...Let me give you a little back story first:

When i was 11 years old i got a stick in the eye and was blind in my left eye. The doctors said that my vision probably wouldn't come back. Well, about a year later i began seeing colors again through it and started having very limited vision. After about a year and a half my vision in that eye came back 100% and is now currently 20/20. Unfortunately, i now have glaucoma and a cataract and have floating blood in my eye that will not go away. Since this happened to me i have had to go to the eye specialist once a year, every year so they can do tests and make sure everything is okay with my eye and to keep an eye on the glaucoma/cataract. Well, in this process they have to examin my retina since after the injury my retina was torn.

Having said that, for a few years now, every once in awhile i will see a bright white orb that just flashes out of nowhere and will stay in one place for about a second or two. I always blink and look in the direction that i saw it but it's gone by then. I always brushed it off assuming that it has something to do with my retina being damaged. After doing research i found out that other people have had this happen to them but it usually means their retina is detaching and they don't even know it.

That would concern me if it wasn't for the fact my eye doctor checks out my retina every year and has found zero problems. This leads to me believe what i'm seeing is something different and maybe something similar to what you and your friend saw. The way you described it is very similar to what i see and in my opinion...well, i have no opinion, i have no clue what it could be. All i know is that people who read this are most likely going to tell you it has something to do with your retina but don't get too worried, because from my experience it is very possible that it is something else.

Spirit, or different dimensional being maybe...?

Thanks for sharing. Is what you see a "floating" light, or does it appear on a surface the way a normal light source would? Do they ever move?

I moved my head around a bit while looking at these things. And they didn't move when I did that. Also, I have near perfect vision, and have never seen anything like this since.

Yes! When I was very young, probably around 5 years old, there was a round light like that that appeared in the bedroom I shared with my 2 sisters. It stayed there for a long time, probably several weeks, if memory serves me.

No light sources to make it appear on the wall due to the arrangement of the room. We lived in the country, so no outside lights shining in at night either.
One night it just wasn't there any more.

I always got a comforting feeling from this light, like it was watching over us. I don't know why. Maybe it was one of our spirit guides?

Then again, I read somewhere that when a light like that appears it is a warning of someone close dying. I don't think anyone died, to my knowledge, so that probably isn't correct.

If you don't get any more responses you can visit my paranormal thread (in my signature). I'm sure someone there will have a post about this.

I gave you an S&F.

Did the light move at all? It's nice that you got a comforting feeling from it. The one I saw was a bit unsettling. I was so creeped out, I just left and drove around for a while!

I have read through part of your thread. I'll go back and read the rest when I get time. Thanks!

No, what i see does not move. When my head turns it stays in the same place and either disappears really quick on it's own or right after i've blinked. Also, it's nothing like a reflection or some kind of light reflecting. For me, it looks almost as if it is a 3-D object. it's clear that it isn't coming from any other source of light. It's almost as if it's glistening...

No, the light was steady... no movement at all. Except, I just now remembered... When it first appeared it was on the wall, and stayed there a few weeks. Then one night it appeared on the ceiling over the bed, stayed there about a week, then it was gone.

I had forgotten about it moving from the wall to the ceiling until you mentioned it. I think it was either a spirit guide, a loving relative who had passed over, or a guardian angel. Whatever it was, it was there to watch over us.
