OOps, My bad...that would be me. By the way what does have to do with buying hollow point ammo for practice. Because thats what it boils down to. Who cares how much lead free frag ammo you have its worthless in a fight anyway. However Hollow point which is ONLY good for soft tissue targets is something to worry about especially in that quantity.
I displayed a request for TRAINING AMMO all Im asking is the OP do the same thing for DHS so we can end this and I can be wrong and have a good nights sleep. However if they are only buying street fighting ammo then there is something to sweat.
So OP I'm waiting...

I have listed the link numerous times, either you cannot comprehend or you have trouble reading. Not sure how much clearer I can be. I also linked the same FBO.GOV site you did. The same one where I listed the contracts that show that the DHS has not bought 2 billion bullets.

If you want to know if a particular agency uses a particular type of round for training, there is absolutely nothing wrong with making contact with that agency and asking them. They are under no obligation to give you an answer, but you cant be faulted for asking. Worst case scenario, they have no comment.

It simply is not logical to think that a shortage is caused solely by an order of this sort, especially since the government didnt just walk in and load up 1.6 billion rounds. That number is a figure to be provided over time, in this case anywhere from 3 to 5 years.

And I will also ask, what does anything about a CAC have to do with any of this? What are you even talking about?
edit on 25-3-2013 by flyswatter because: (no reason given)

I would also, you ever seen a Jersey in a MADCOW fit?.........Took the FDA agents over a thousand rounds to drop it! Must be why they need all the ammo. Of course if they quit taking instructions from the NYcity police instructors....LOL

No do'nt google it I was just kidding......
Over a BILLION rounds think about it? a professional shooter in competition throws abouta half a million rounds down range annually. How many times does that go into billion and ahalf?

There has never, ever been a reported case of mad cow disease from drinking raw milk.
Even though there have been reports of the disease in dairy cows, theyve never found the prion in milk itself.

NOAA executes arrest warrants? What for? Somebody messing with the weather? Am I crazy or does that seem a little over the top?

Actually, NOAA assists the Coast Guard in handling fisheries violations among other things. They do more than just check for rain. You should really read up on them at: www.nmfs.noaa.gov...

Okay you win, theres nothing to it.

For everyone else do your own research look at the requests from the FBI, ATF, CIA, and everyone else under DHS and your ammo will show up.

Be fed up with nonsense, thats fine. There's nothing wrong with that.

One bit of advice would be to also look at the time periods for delivery on these contracts, the amount of ammunition that is made each year (both globally and in the US), and the amount of increase in sales that retailers have experienced over the recent months (if you can get them to give you this information, that is). All of this information will give you a bit of insight on the matter, and it will help you avoid getting caught up in any more of the nonsense that people are trying to spout, both here and elsewhere.

Your not quite right; this is FMJ 9mm. Of couse this is an actual current document. not hearsay. But Im sure in YOUR DHS only JHP are used and the other DHS is just storing this ammo for the MP5s they don't have.

www.fbo.gov...

anyway people do your OWN research and don't listen to this clown. Or do listen, your choice

Sorry to go off topic....
But the overall tone in this thread is funny/depressing. There are a few good arguments being made on both sides, but most are just sticking to their predispositions and calling the other side blind or ignorant.
It's like watching the pot and kettle argue "you're black!" "No, you're black!".
The same could be said about most threads here, but the hypocrisy (given the starting lines of OP) runs strong in this one.
I'd add an on topic comment, but I haven't learned enough to have my opinion swayed either way in this particular discussion. Not that some aren't adding valuable points, I just don't have patience to sift through all this "oh yeah your government cares about you" sarcasm, and "you just want your doom porn" retort, to find them.

Oh sorry those are FMJ that are specifically used for target practice.

Federal AE9AP Standard 9mm Full Metal Jacket 124 GR 50Box/20Case American Eagle is designed specifically for target shooting, training and practice. This ammunition is non-corrosive, and have reloadable brass cases.

Always good to hear when a Coastie gets out and puts their GI Bill to use! Too many neglect to use that entitlement and it's a darn shame. Good luck to your son in his new career and I definitely hope all works out for him. Tough job being a teacher, they don't get the credit they deserve.
