I have a wood stove and it does not trigger it.

asthmatic and you would still have asthma attacks.

I don't..have asthma and the only trigger is cigarettes must be one of the 400 or more chemicals in them.

I don't care what you do (as long as the kids you have are not suffering from it) and I have no need to control your smoking, only the smoke in my face and the stinky polluting butts on the ground marring the beauty of the woods and everywhere else I go.

My husband was addicted to cigarettes as a child because of his fathers smoking. Where was his rights? He stopped smoking before i met him and he hates smokers and what they do to children.

If you prefer to believe a photograph instead of your brain telling you that no one can possibly live with lungs that damaged, and in the knowledge that 40 % of all lung transplants in the UK are from smokers, then please feel free!

You go on with your bad self!

Tired of Control Freaks

Well since that is what the Drs who actually know something about it say I will go with that.

They say if you stop your lungs clear up really fast.

Well I think I will leave off any discussion with zeolots who prefer not to think and can't figure out that if the only smoke they react to is cigarette smoke, then maybe the cause of their problem is psychogenic.

As for my children Char-Lee, take a long walk off a short dock. MY CHILDREN ARE MY BUSINESS.

Funny that - you feel you have the right to stop me from exposing my children to the smoke generated from 19 g of dried leaves but have no problem whatsoever in exposing her children to the smoke from burning logs of wood.

www.familiesforcleanair.org...

People who would never dream of smoking a cigarette choose to burn wood. Yet wood smoke contains many of the same toxic and carcinogenic substances as cigarette smoke, including benzene, benzo(a)pyrene, and dibenz(a,h)anthracene. And wood smoke produces far more particulate pollution than cigarette smoke does. EPA researchers estimate the lifetime cancer risk from wood smoke to be 12 times greater than from a similar amount of cigarette smoke.

Did your brainwashers forget to point out that wood smoke is WORSE than tobacco smoke?

I looked at your link.

Let me make it even easier

fightantismokertyranny.blogspot.ca...

Lets get right down to the important part.

When you claim that something CAUSES lung cancer, the incidence of lung cancer should DECREASE when you remove the thing that you believe is causing the disease. If it doesn't, then you were WRONG in the first place!

The incidence of lung cancer HAS NOT decreased despite the decrease in the incidence of smoking.

Here's what I posted earlier:

and Japan is the "smokiest" country around, and virtually none get sick from it. It's mostly genetics and diet (I guess).

No one seemed to notice.

New wood stoves and CA laws make the wood smoke very clean.

Can't talk to smokers about smoking, they are to involved in their addiction.

Oh for heaven's sake! I suppose you both go running (or bicycling) on major roads, too.
'What they do to children'??

My dad was a smoker - Mom not. Dad has died at nearly 80. Mom not. I grew up in a household of one smoker and one non-smoker.
What you don't understand is that people who smoke have a LOT LESS STRESS than people who don't.
And PERSECUTION OF SMOKERS does nothing to promote public health.
There is value to being relieved of stress. "Hate" is stress.
If a person feels relieved of their stress by smoking, then....good!

Having lived there for five years, I'll vouch for that.

They love their cigarettes and smoke like chimney's.

I like salt and pepper. I salt and pepper most everything, makes it taste better. The salt substitute that many food manufacturers use, MSG, gives me migraines. All MSG does is give ingredients that are almost rotten a flavor enhancement. I will eat salt over MSG, any day.

As for sugary beverages, I drink those all the time at home. Mountain Dew is my favorite. I drink anywhere from 2 to 4 per day. Maybe my eating habits will shorten my lifespan but I consume what I enjoy. After discovering the unhealthy data about artificial sweeteners, I will eat sugar over those.

I noticed what you said about Japan. And I know it to be true. You forgot to mention that Greeks are also big smokers and have much longer lives.

I love the greeks. They have tried 5 times now to pass smoker bans and have been thoroughly ignored each and every time.

www.kidon.com...

Here is one site showing longevity vs incidence of smoking.

Why do people believe "studies" instead of real world evidence?

I previously posted a world wide survey showing that those countries with the highest salt intake (up to 14 grams) had the healthiest population and those with lower salt intake (7 grams) were less healthy with higher rates of high blood pressure. (Japan has a daily salt intake of 14 grams)

The recommended daily salt intake is recommended by the western health community to be only about 3.5 grams! Now were did that recommendation come from? Wait, wait...I know, somebody did a study!

Why do the words "studies show...." cause everyone to unhook their brains and swallow anything that follows those words as gospel from on high. Like Moses had written it on stone tablets. No matter how unlikely those words may be?)

(Sigh)

Tired of Control Freaks.

Give me one good reason for smoking, why should anyone smoke?

And please do not give some bulls*it reason like it is my right or because I can.

And please leave also out any health issues, as all of the health risks may not be legit, although some of them are, and I have no clue about the legitimacy of the ones you gave.

Thank You

For a woman who feels like she is going to "die" in the presence of a smoker in an outdoor setting - but hey is just fine firing up the old wood stove, there is no reason for smoking, there never was a good reason for smoking, there never will be a good reason for smoking.

You unhooked your brain in the face of sound bites (half of all smokers will suffer premature death because of smoking - of course they will! That is the meaning of the word "average". Half of all smokers will die prematurely, before the average, and half will die after the average. It is just as accurate to say "half of all never-smokers will die prematurely).

I already posted a list of some of the benefits of smoking in a previous post. That is only some of the benefits, not all.

Right now - Big Pharma is trying to take over the business of developing nicotene based medicines. Just google "benefits of nicotene". But the benefit to smokers isn't just from nicotene. Its also in the system of delivery of nicotene to the body. Inhalation delivers the nicotene to the brain in under 8 second and whomps the hell out of anything Big Pharma has for a delivery system.

The presence of smoke in a room also controls viruses, bacteria, mould and fungus in the air. I posted a link about that.

And after you have gone all through this thread and found the benefits of smoking that I posted - you will turn around and say but you can get all those benefits from Big Pharma

Face it - you are NOT a smoker and you just don't get it and you never will!

But at the end of the day, you don't have to. All you have to do is develop a little respect (you know, that thing that you demand that smokers give you) and a little healthy fear.

If you think that the demonization of smokers will stop with smokers....take a good look around lady because sooner or later something you like will be next.

As a matter of fact - I believe the green tree huggers are working very hard to ban all wood burning stoves.

Ban Wood Burning Except in Emergency Situations

www.thepetitionsite.com...

Oops and here I thought most respiratory disorders were caused by either smoking or exposure to second hand smoke! Turns out wood burning is way worse!

Cabin - why don't you have some respect for neighbours and stop all that wood burning? I hate the smell!

I checked in in the thread because I thought you finally found video evidence of millions of people just dropping to the ground with cigs and sodas jumping on their heads.

So sick of all this crap.

Just leave us to our goodies and let us die the way we choose, right?

I know! My husbands grandmother and her sister smoked liked chimneys for half of their lives.

They lived to 98 and 100! I can't splain it!

My aunt, same thing, she's still driving us crazy at 88!

And they all ate lots of fat and salt and sugar! OMG!!

And to the poster above who says her wood stove doesn't trigger her......do you know why?

Cause the smoke goes up a chimney....if it came in her house she would dead.......dead dead dead.

Tired of Controls

Who said I am not a smoker? I am smoking pretty heavily - over one pack of strong ones (red) in a day.

Although I am still against smoking. It is a nasty habit and have been trying to quite for a while now.

As I wrote in previous page: As being a heavy smoker, I can honestly tell. Smoking has no benefits, only cons. It is expensive and bad for health. Let us take your point, smoking and lung cancer might not be so related. But smoking has also other negative effects: The capacity of lungs decreases, which decreases your overall stamina. High blood pressure. High hemoglobine levels in your blood. Weakening senses (smelling & tasting). Cough. More throat diseases, like tonsillitis. Teeth problems. Skin is not good. All of these are from first-hand experience.

I am honest, as doing lots of sports. Playing soccer and basketball both in one of the top leagues country as amateur. It truly has effect on my performance, whatever anybody tells- first hand experience is still the best.

The thing is , it is a nasty habit and I regret starting. That is why I am trying to convince anybody who considers starting not to, as smoking may seem cool and stuff, but at the end it has zero benefit, it takes a lot of money. I could go to Egypt, Spain or Italy every year for the money I spend on smoking. My performance is lower in sports+ many other health related risks/chances.

Smoking industry is nothing else than a trap. Once your in, it is hard to get out and I, at least so far, have been not strong enough to do it... Also that is the reasons I prefer as less commercialising cigarettes as possible, so other people would not be as dumb as I was when I started.

About your argument on health. Of course there it is a 50% chance whether you die sooner or not. Although do you want to play russian roulette with your life, when you turn 50 or 60. I am honest, I do not take the fact that I would not do drugs as living in a cage, it is simply smart to not do them, as they have zero benefit also .

That is why I will quit soon.

PS. It is funny, but I do hate cigarette smell. And honestly, I would rather be a day without cigarettes than disturb anybody with my behaviour. I usually simply go further away from everybody else, other side of parking lot, some corner behind the house or something similar, so not to bother the other people with my addiction.

No matter what kind of wood burning stove you have - there is always leakage of smoke into the house. You can tell by the smell. What goes up the chimney are the gases and most of the smoke. This is what stops people from dying in the house.

You should figure out why you are having such a reaction to the cigarette smoke. The main problem is definitely not the smoke. The smoke should make you cough just a little if you are right in it. Any more reaction than that and You may be susceptible to anaphilactic problems from many things. It sounds more like a sulfite sensitivity that causes an over reaction. a small diet change can help that..

Cabin

I am sorry dear - but you are no longer believable in any way.

You are a heavy smoker BUT you have asthma-like attacks in the great outdoors if you just smell a cigarette smoke from a distance.

You have no such attack when exposed to wood burning smoke

You are heavy smoker but can't stand the smell (I thought anti-smokers say that smokers have no sense of smell when it comes to tobacco smoke)

You are heavy smoker but can't find even one good thing to say about smoking (how it increases other pleasures - like the pleasure of a beer and smoke together, or coffee and a smoke or how about sitting on a patio on a beautiful day, enjoying a smoke) or its social pleasures (how smokers meet and strike up conversations with total strangers).

You don't talk about stress relief or increasing the ability to focus and concentrate.

You don't smoke around others (presumably even your non-smoking husband). The rest of us are having trouble finding a doorway to huddle in but you have no trouble finding a place of isolation to smoke a whole pack a day!

And you certainly did NOT take the trouble to find the link I provided in an earlier post that proved that smoking most certainly DOES have benefits.

Oh Cabin - you are laughable! You are so clumsy at being a troll that you are almost a parody - all by yourself!
