WOW! You mean that's all there is??

And it doesn't even matter what the Republicans in the Congressional House has to say about the UN Arms Treaty? The Senate shot it down already?

I mean, that the United States is the world's largest arms exporter? Did that have anything to do with it?

Or that America accounts for over forty percent of the world's total defense expenditures?

Hmmmmm.......I'm suspicious.

There must be more to this up Harry Reid's sleeve than what it looks like on the surface?

I'm sure to be missing something important here..

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) introduced an amendment that would prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty in order to uphold the Second Amendment. His amendment passed on a 53-46 vote.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) offered an alternative amendment that clarified that under current U.S. law, treaties don’t trump the Constitution and that the United States should not agree to any arms treaty that violates the Second Amendment rights. His amendment passed by voice vote.

So you supported this treaty?
I'm not sure where you are coming from...

But I sure hope you didn't want CONgress to ratify it.

Yup... If they voted no, that is all there is to it.

The President can put his signature to something if he'd like I think....but it carries next to nothing for true impact without the Senate ratifying. It still wouldn't have lived beyond the Super Court if it went sideways to the Constitution. The Supremacy clause is established as coming before and overruling any treaty in conflict. However..if the Senate wouldn't even carry it to this step? It's a dead bird .....for now anyway. It'll be back. Don't worry.

Bad ideas never die. They just get renamed and repackaged for another run. We'll see this material again, I predict.

Why do you think we should join the UN Arms Trade Treaty?

Can you state your reasons.

I'm just expressing shock and awe.......

By the way, I read an interesting article about how Wall Street is predicting when the cut off date is for buy stock in Sturm Ruger, per the proposed Universal Background Check amendments currently sitting in the senate as we speak.

Hey, who needs the Mayan or the Hopi prophecy to predict what will happen when Congress votes on the Universal Background Check amendment? When we have stock market analysts telling us what to expect.

I'll have to pull that article back up and discuss it some more.

I'm sure everyone is wondering what is going to happen with that amendment....now that the assault gun amendment has hit the dust.

I'm simply expressing shock and awe is all.......

WOW! Just WOW!

You agree that is all there is to the UN Arms Treaty thingy.

Just more shock and awe on my part. Expressing like a little kid in a McDonald's Restaurant Funhouse.

Now....about that Universal Background Check Thingy???

I have never purchased a gun from a private individual and it hasn't hurt me yet.
I'm cool with the background checks.

And while we're at it....did you read this thing where this community college professor said that it is time for Eric Holder to start kicking down doors in America?

I mean......don't they have to vote on this before Holder can kick down doors in America? Or is this something a community college professor can regulate into law because he's adamant about Gun Control?

"Could the jEWS have fought back? They did (in Warsaw). You know why they (the Nazis) destroyed the ghetto? Because they were afraid of getting shot," he said. "Now, will it get to that in the U.S.? God, I hope not. Not if (U.S. Attorney General Eric) Holder doesn't start sending people to kick doors down."

I'm not sure where you're coming from in the OP. What are you getting at?

I'm glad the senate voted that way. Do you want the US to be under UN control in any way?? I don't!

Recently I traded an old SUV for a Marlin 45 70. The guy wanted the SUV for hunting. I didn't feel like doing the mechanical work on the vehicle. I'd rather just ride along with him when we go hunting, and shoot a 45 70.

Though I wonder how Big Brother would make us go through a Universal Background Check when we do barter? That's bizarre to think that Big Brother has enough employees to look into all these trading things.

And I'd sell you a gun....but I don't sell my guns. I'm holding onto all of them.

I'm just in shock and awe about the Senate vote on the UN Treaty Thingy.

I believe there are lines that a fair % of the population are waiting to see IF they ever cross ..and not doing much of anything beyond simmering out here, pissed off, until or unless those ARE crossed. I believe the lines are a little different for everyone in each person's perception and sense of what America is.

I'll tell you this though, and on this I am serious.... If the practice known as "Gun Runs" among the cops in New York begins across the nation.......(which is the kicking of doors strictly in response to reports of a gun present at the location which isn't legal or registered in some way)... Then I will make it a hard point to begin studying the resistance movements of past history. Studying with the same intensity I do my course work when an A is all I see for options.

I think that line will be where it becomes critically important that we start understanding in a practical way, what worked and what didn't in the past, as well as why for each case. It may be information to live by ...should it really go THAT far.

The only way to track private party sales is with a National Gun Registry, which is complete BS!!! This is the “gun show loophole” they keep crying about.

NO National Registry and NO UN Treaties! The second amendment must stand…

Ya think?

By the way....did you see this rather unique story? Kind of gave me a chuckle, there....

A woman who had been banned from an Upper Darby dollar store doused store employees with pepper spray as they tried to escort her out on Monday, and when they tackled her to the ground, she gave the spray can to her 7-year-old daughter and told her to finish the fight, police said. "You know what to do, baby. Spray it!", Delaina Garling allegedly told her daughter.

Plain and simple. The government abolished barter or private sale because they cannot make money with it. This occurred leading up to the creation of the Federal Reserve.

So,if a private gun transaction occurs, the government and the reserve WANT a credit card/cash transaction not only to tax but that is money they can now use....for free..that sits in their banks that they can then re-lend.

There was no money to make so it was shot down. The US is already in control so why regulate themselves and have to show the books.

Thank you... The second one there I hadn't seen and will download a hard copy to save in my archives.

I don't know how avid a reader you are, but speaking of guns and Katrina for a quick second...you may be interested in picking up "Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army". Plenty of books have been written about them, of course. I note THAT one though because at least one chapter dealt with the deployment of Blackwater troops in full combat gear, into Katrina by the end of the 1st full day of the levy breach.

They'd gone in, according to the book, under private contracts to private property owners (The Southern Mansions/Estates were mentioned as we some large private business). By the end, they'd gotten into a bit of everything and one very clear and detailed account (may have been revised out) described a blackwater truck running under a highway overpass and opening fire on those standing atop it. They were firing down first, as the account in that tells it........but doesn't that sound AN AWFUL LOT like a bridge shooting some NOPD people got jammed up and prosecuted for? ...I wonder...

No question about the NEED for the 2nd and our firearms though. It's when we need them MOST that the Government seems MOST interested in taking them. Well....not here. Not from the people living in this region and not without an open fight.
(So unnecessary ... all of this)

A lot of people just don't vote.

91 million plus didn't vote in the 2012 election.

But if Gubbmint starts to screw with the Second Amendment, a lot of those people will vote.

If you've ever been through a hurricane and the aftermath of a hurricane.....and I've been through a few of them.......you notice how bright the stars are in the sky.

That's cause all the electricity is out.

You notice you hear things better......I mean, besides the gas powered generators.....like footsteps. People lurking around in the dark.

It gets kind of spooky as civilization goes dark. People aren't accustomed to the night without street lights.

A lot of things happen in the dark.

Whenever I see Capitalism and the Second Amendment advance hand in hand, I'm a happy dude.

China might be sneaking up on us as the largest economic powerhouse in the world.....But America has got the firepower to put the fear of American Capitalism into anyone on this planet.

Ya know, China went a built themselves a built-in suicide machine when they built the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtzee River.

They built the dam there cause the Yangztzee would flood on occasion, totally screwing up the Chinese economy.

The Three River's Gorge Dam is as long and as high as the Golden Gate Bridge. The river of water behind that dam is as long as the State of Nevada.

The dam is built on a serious earthquake fault line.

If war were to break out between China and most anybody....say, India......one well placed nuke tipped missile hitting that dam would take out a massive chunk of China, especially the City of Shanghai.

Imagine a huge dam built on the Hudson on an earthquake fault line, and New York City down below should that dam burst. It'd be a major Tsunami taking out New York City.

Anyway, good old American Capitalism and American Firepower pretty much evens up the score with just about any of those socialist nations that might want to tangle with us.

Just saying.......Yeah, the senate knows better than to rile up the 91 million people who didn't vote in 2012 by fooling with our guns and international firepower.
