I think it speaks volumes of the general idiocy in the US right now that we have people still lumbered with the false idea that the gun issue splits
the nation down party lines. It doesnt. It might split the political class down those lines, but they have agendas outside the social norm.
Another thing that is ridiculous, the suggestion that removing guns, limiting magazine capacity or any other damn thing is going to change the face
of gun crime in the US. As Im sure anyone who lives there will point out, all that will be achieved by restricting gun ownership, is an armed criminal
underbelly and a defenseless citizenry. The only legitimate solution to the problem of spree killing is to adequately deal with the mentally ill, and
the criminals who perpetrate these offenses.
Keeping dangerous individuals away from guns, and other people, is going to be more effective long term, than merely keeping guns of various sorts,
out of public reach. It will however cost billions to adequately deal with these issues, which is why the government in the country has not taken up
that challenge. This despite the fact that the sorts of people they should be dealing with, keeping away from the innocent and decent people, would be
just as dangerous without guns, as with them.
