It's my first week and I do feel better...definitely knocked down the Blood Pressure - haven't got the energy boost as some people have but think it will take a little time only 5 days in.

One thing it does do is clears you right out - if you have Colon issues or a Tapeworm think it would be homerun for those issues. All in all think its good stuff and supposedly lowers your Cholesterol - keep in mind its dirt & tastes like it but am up to 3 tablespoons a day - just chase it with water and you should be good.

"Benefits of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth"

"Diatomaceous earth is a sedimentary rock that can easily turn into a white powder when crumbled. It is primarily made up of skeletal structures from under water plant forms also known as fossils. It is a combination of minerals such as iron, magnesium and calcium and can be used for maintaining optimum physical well-being. It has shown many nutritional and anti-fungal benefits in both humans and animals alike.
Lowers Bad Cholesterol

Low density lipoprotein, also known as LDL is bad cholesterol and bad cholesterol is most often consumed through diets that are high in trans fat such as fried foods, cookies and pastries. It is a wax-like build up that clogs arteries and can cause potentially life-threatening disorders such as heart attacks. According to the Detox Specialist, diatomaceous earth is able to lower high cholesterol through the blood. It is also capable of elevating good cholesterol levels the body needs to stay healthy."

Dear BABYBULL24,

A flag and a star because ATS is quiet tonight and I found your post amusing. I had never heard that such a thing is good for your cholesterol, I will now have to investigate it.

Your Avatar reminds me of a Magnum PI Episode poem from owe so many years ago:

"A wise old owl lived in an oak.
The more he saw the less he spoke.
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird? "

Peace

What other differences in your body have you noticed? Has it changed your sleeping habits/schedule at all? Please, keep us updated on your progress.

I've seen on Discovery channel in the past that there are some tribes in Africa that eat dirt and clay. I couldn't believe it but I guess It supplements them with minerals that they are lacking in their normal food sources.

S&F for the brave soul that eats dirt

So you have willpower?

I envy you.

Just found out I have pre diabetes, have to go to a class....ick.....

Now all I can do is eat carbs and sugar like the world will end if I don't.

Why is it when I hear "stop doing that!" My brain says. "NO!!!!!! You must never stop doing that, you must do it more!!!!"

Oh come on. Didn't you ever make mud pies when you were a kid? Now I'm craving a little dirt myself. Sprinkle it on some ice cream or mashed potatoes. It sounds good. I'm serious.

When I was pregnant I craved and ate Dash laundry soap. I was told by my doc.that I was phosphorus deficient and as long as it wasn't more than a couple teaspoons to enjoy, so I did. It was lemon and it tasted good. So I've eaten soap and now am being told to eat dirt.

HHHHHhhmmmmm, I have off the radar high blood pressure that is not really affected by the expensive medications I've been on. I went to have a finger stitched a few years ago and four hours later had every intern in the place staring wide eyed that I was alive and relaxed. Multiple monitors were swapped out as defective and my finger still gaping open because they could not sew it up without my BP dropping. They gave me massive amounts of drugs to bring it down and it never even made it to acceptable range so I told 'em you best sew my finger tip back on or I'm walking outta here to go home. I had my finger tip chopped in half in two places and had no pain at all. Always had a very high threshold for pain and they told me that was a big sign for high blood pressure. That's how it was discovered.

I've quit smoking, went no salt, meds and exercise but it's still very elevated and has lately taken a more serious and scary turn. Now you have me going off to do some research on this so thanks for posting. This could seriously help me. I don't know my cholesterol level and don't want to know!

Please forgive the oxymoron is it clean dirt? You mentioned tape worms, there are all sorts of worms and icky stuff in dirt, dirt. ATS people will pretty much eat or drink anything I have learned. Do be safe with your dirt eating.

It's not that kind of dirt.

I've fed it to my dogs periodically for parasites, and if they catch fleas or ticks, it's safe to rub it into their fur to kill the unwanted bugs.

You have to be very careful that they don't breathe in the dust, or get it in their eyes. It's very irritating to lungs and eyes.

It's very drying on the skin too, so they need a good skin conditioning bath after a while (olive oil), and I don't feed it to them all the time - it gives them gas.

Farmers feed it to their animals, so around here I get a huge bag for $40.
I've heard it's good for people too, but with the gasiness the dogs get

I remembered the possible side effect.
It can also kill off your good gut bugs. Stuff needed for proper digestion.

If you're eating the earth, you need to also eat probiotics and prebiotics.
I think you can get some of the good digestive bacteria you need by eating cheese, yoghurt, and fermented foods.
Eat a few hours apart from when you eat the earth.

The earth seems like it would hide well in soups, stews, gravies, smoothies......

Whoa hardcore synchronicity...

I just got back from a local pet store where the clerk talked me into buying two pounds for my dogs, she was even saying I should try it as it has loads of benefits...

Crazy how that works sometimes.
