Apparently it didn't end in February . . .

Vice President Biden and his entourage spent a little time in London in early February during his first foreign trip of the second term of the Obama administration. A document released today revealed that the cost of lodging in London alone was close to half a million dollars. The contract was awarded on January 30, 2013 to the Hyatt Regency London for a total of $459,388.65

That's almost a million bucks for two nights. Makes me feel not so bad when I book the Raddison for $109 a night instead of the $79 Motel 6.

this was for the the vice-president of the united states...not some common vacationer...what's wrong with you people, are you so clueless, or just stupid

The VP is a public servant and should use the public funds wisely in this time of fiscal problems.

If calling into question spending a million bucks on two nights of handshaking and glad handing while the country sets back and waits for the next sequestration load-o-crap is stupid . . . gimme the dunce cap and I'll proudly wear it.

Since when has a vice president done anything useful besides sit around, attempt to look important and wait for his boss to die?

yes i do call it stupid...you need a hotel that has put into place a secure set of rooms, halls, entry ways, garages, that is able to be defended against an attack, you have secret service, state dept liasons, assistants, and various other people that travel with the vice president that need rooms for the night.
and since you already seem to know that the only thing the vice-president was doing was "handshaking and glad-handing"...maybe you can fill the rest of us in on his exact intinerary.

Here you go junior . . . . probably world-saving meetings where the most in depth of policy was set that will undoubtedly save the EU and put things all okey-diddly-dokey on this side of the pond.

Biden's trip will kick off in Germany, where he plans to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, and give a policy speech at the Munich Security Conference. Biden appeared before that group four years ago, at the beginning of Obama's first term.

He and second lady Jill Biden will then travel to Paris, where he will meet with President Fran├žois Hollande and members of the French government. Biden will then cross the Channel, for meetings in London with Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and other members of the British Cabinet.

A million bucks is a lot to go visit the other leaders.

There was this novel thing invented a while back . . . the telephone. If that's too unswanky maybe a virtual meeting or two would suffice.

But when you're crying the blues over the lack of green and you spend this kind of dough, you ought to expect a bit of negative press and scruitiny.

'Cept in your world where we who question such things are simply stupid. In your world, we should all just sit back and accept what we do not believe is right and then further sit back when you call us 'stupid' for speaking up.

In my opinion, you are what is wrong with this country in that you'll accept a million dollar seemingly unnecessary junket to keep up the appearance that the US is still the string-pullers of the world and whoever disagrees with you is . . . well . . . stupid.

Now run along . . . Dancing with the Network Bachelor Idol of the Arias Trial is on HLN . . . you wouldn't want to miss that.

And yet all of this nonsense could have been avoided with a teleconference. Heck he could have just sat down with all the leaders one right after the other and be done with these meetings in an afternoon. You know just because he is the VP doesn't entitle him to spend large amounts of money for his protection when the rest of the country is hurting, especially when there is a far easier and far cheaper way to accomplish everything he did overseas.
