Great. I wonder how many more states are using tax dollars to fund such useless events. What a waste of tax payers dollars. Sex education is necessary but 'Sex Week'? Is it something equivalent to the final exam for the class? This is what special interest groups and extreme liberalism breeds. Misuse of funds for non-critical issues in a society. There are far more worst problems out there in Tennessee. Poverty is on the rise amongst many families and the unfortunate victims are the younger children and next generation to name one. You can come up with other issues in other areas of the state if you really look for it. Wonder how long this funding has been active for useless programs.

Organizers of the University of Tennessee’s first-ever “Sex Week” will have to find a new source of funding after embattled university officials reversed course and announced they will not fund the controversial program with state tax dollars.

“We support the process and the students involved, but we should not use state funds in this manner,” Chancellor Jimmy Cheek said in a statement.

Cheek made the announcement after reviewing “Sex Week’s” final agenda. As a result, the student-led event will be forced to find $11,145 in additional funding. The university will continue to let the group use $6,700 in student fees.
Sex Week is scheduled for April 7-12 and includes 30 events including “Getting Laid,” “Sex Positivity; Queer as a Verb,” “Bow Chicka Bow Woah,” “How to talk to Your Parents About Sex,” “Loud and Queer,” and “How Many Licks Does it Take…” – a workshop about oral sex.

“We should be teaching these children what is important to learn so they can get jobs,” state Sen. Stacey Campfield told Fox News. “I don’t know what jobs they plan on getting if they’re having seminars on oral sex and bondage. I don’t see how that will help someone in their professional career – unless they plan on becoming a porn star.”

The university had allocated nearly $20,000 to fund the week-long salute to sex that also included a poetry-reading lesbian bondage expert and a campus-wide scavenger hunt for a golden condom.

“This is truly an offense to the people of Tennessee,” state Rep. Susan Lynn said on the House floor. “I am offended for the people of my district at the University of Tennessee having sex week.”

Schools have been holding like events for decades.

Yale comes to mind as one of the longer running ones.

Gotta "shock" the people once in a while to prove you're still relevant.

As far as taxes being wasted, well, that's all that is ever done with taxes. Think how wonderful it would be if there was no wasteful spending and our burden to support the monstrosity of the state was actually reasonable. One can dream.

This strikes me as a fine example of why children shouldn't be running things in their own schools. Students are Students because knowledge and ability to function with it is lacking ..... Perhaps they ought to focus on learning what all that money is being paid to accomplish and have "Sex Week" after one has finished that learning stuff.... It's all boring, I know..but that is kinda the point of Higher Education.

Remember when sex had more meaning than a couple animals rutting like rabbits with an itch?

Looks like Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam has done them a favour.

All that free advertizing from Fox and the Students took to Facebook and Twitter to raise the funds themselves.

Here's the website for anyone who's interested.
