The hull is steel. The superstructure is aluminum.

Funny,with all the advanced CAD we have, the equipment seems to have more issues than the slide rule guys had.

sigh, i wish the US navy learned their own lesson that aluminium is a NO-NO in a ship fire condition..

and that lesson from british naval agression in argentine owned malvinas, the HMS Sheffield's aluminium hull damage..

it is not the computer design's fault , it is the human's fault in designing something so tight along the variables that the LCS cannot easily be modified because any kind of mod will incur weight addition that LCS can't take.

The old design philosopy seem to 'over-engineer' the ships so it can take additional mods/weights as the time goes by..
