This is normal for North Korea. Under his father, we would have been talking and promising food aid by now. With him, we're not playing by the same rules, so he has to ramp the rhetoric up. North Korea multiple times under Big Kim threatened to wipe out US bases in the area, or wipe the South off the map, and within a week, he had concessions from us. Apparently now we're done playing that game, and Little Kim doesn't know how to react or how to handle it, so he's going to ramp up the rhetoric until we do.

Don't underestimate North Korea. They can't win a war, and they have a degraded military, but they have huge rocket forces, and they have a lot of fanatical troops. They can hurt the South badly before the end of the war. People like to point and laugh, but there will be a lot of shocked people by the end if the balloon does go up.

China wants Taiwan and they are using NK as a distraction. China has been threatening over the disputed Islands with Japan and even moved a lot of missiles and other military hardware to the coast off those Islands. The truth is the Islands are just north of Taiwan and they want them all back. As soon as they tell NK to attack the south they will take Taiwan and the rest of the near by Islands as the U.S. and Japan will be aiding South Korea.

China wants all the islands in that region, because they all have huge mineral deposits. The Senkaku Islands are just a warm up though. The real battle will be when the war over the Spratly Islands kicks off. At least six nations, including a number that aren't even within 200 miles of them have laid claim to them, including China, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Those oil deposits are supposed to be huge, and everyone wants them.

After NK sank the Souths warship and then shelled their island nothing is normal now. NK is playing with fire being promised backing by China, however China is using them to take Taiwan and the islands around it. North Korea will burn and so will China if they make any moves on either country as Japan will quickly help South Korea and Taiwan if attacked and that will force the U.S. to respond with a full assault of nuclear weapons to take out Chinas ICBM threat. This can be done with just two U.S. subs in ten to fifteen minutes where theirs will take that long just to be ready to leave their silos. Then the B-2s will do mop up before our main air forces move in.

Would any nation really talk this much s**te before doing anything?

Good point.

Yawn...

When Korea actually does something then you will know they planned it. And they won't announce that beforehand either.

But really, what is the point of committing national suicide (with programs)? All I see is our side accusing them of all these terrible bad things they might do and building a case for intervention somewhere down the road. There would be some precedent for that. You know, rhetoric... (capital R for American Main Stream Media).

What about Guantanamo? You think holding people for a decade that have yet to be charged with any crime violates "human rights"? Where's the UN call for investigating that?

Oh, that must be a different "UN".

Japan won't help South Korea. They may allow the US to use the bases in Japan as a staging area, but they won't help South Korea. There is still too much animosity between the two. They start out friendly when a new administration is elected in Korea, but then suddenly it's like Korea remembers the past and what happened between the two nations, and relations go downhill fast.

If China moves to take just the Senkaku Islands it will look like they are taking Taiwan as well. They are too close together. Japan is very serious about protecting these Islands especially since they have and are losing land daily. China would have to be willing to face off with the U.S. Navy and Airforce as soon as Japan decided to shoot one round. They have to have a serious distraction that will bring the U.S. and Japan into the Korea's before anything like that can happen. They may even wait till Iran and co decide to attack Israel, bringing the U.S. in too many fights at one time. I believe that is what will happen.

They will to keep NK from being any closer than they are. They probably wont send troops to land there but they will help every other way.

Trying to take the Senkaku Islands while the US is facing North Korea would be insane. The US would already have a huge force in the region because of the fight with NK. That means that they would be able to split their force and help Japan deal with China and the Senkaku situation. Everything would already be in place, the carriers, the bombers, and huge fighter wings.
