Great news!!

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassey is sponsoring a bill to protect American workers by curtailing H-1B approvals.

A top American Senator has introduced a legislation that he claims is aimed at eliminating fraud and abuse of the H-1B visa programme, but provisions of which would make it tougher for Indian-Americans to get this popular work visa.

Among other things, the H-1B and L-1 Visa Reform Act of 2013 ensures that an H-1B application filed by an employer that employs 50 or more US workers will not be accepted unless the employer attests that less than 50 per cent of the employer's workforce are H-1B and L visa holders.

Companies will be complaining about this. After all they bring these workers in so they can pay them a lower wage than they would have to pay an American.
Time for people to start crying the government is trying to tell us how to run our companies.

As far as I'm concerned, until our unemployment rate is settled back down to reasonable levels with a stable economy sustaining it, employers should have a VERY high bar to reach in being able to get workers from overseas. Period. They should need to PROVE not just show by a half way serious effort for the paperwork, that no local American could be hired at the wage they're going to pay the person brought in from overseas.

On EVERY position. EVERY time. Each time the same position opens again, same process to again prove by effort to actively recruit, Americans could not be found to do the work.

Just my two cents. America can look at being the workplace for the rest of the world to come to when OUR people have jobs for those who desperately need and DO want them.
