Glycerin, or Glycerine, a syrupy alcohol that is colorless and odorless and has a sweet taste. It is usually called glycerol by chemists. Glycerin dissolves readily in other alcohols and in water, but is insoluble in such common solvents as ether, benzene, and ethyl acetate.
Most glycerin is produced as a by-product of the soap industry. The natural fats used as raw material for soap are converted into fatty acids and glycerin by reaction with water in a chemical process called hydrolysis. The glycerin is then purified by distillation with steam. Large quantities of glycerin are also made by the reaction of chlorine and propylene, followed by hydrolysis.
Because it absorbs moisture from the air, glycerin is used in drugs, foods, tobaccos, cosmetics, gaskets, papers, and adhesives to prevent them from drying out. Glycerin adds flexibility to certain plastic materials. It is an important ingredient of alkyd resins, used in paints and varnishes. Glycerin is used in manufacturing nitroglycerin, the chief ingredient in dynamite. Formula: CH2OHCHOHCH2OH. Specific gravity: 1.26; boiling point: 554 F. (290 C.).
If a power plant was pumping smoke into the mall at the food court, I would be complaining about that too, you are right.....And e-cigs can be smoked outside where they belong...

I have been a smoker, I have not been a smoker, so I have heen around both smokers and nonsmokers.
Your being ridiculous if your claiming your wife got dizzy from others smoking an electronic cigarette, it is about a hundred times more likely she stood too fast after eating, when the blood rushes to your digestive tract, and so got a moment of lightheadedness.
I believe your just one of the types to complain about anything someone else does that you dont like, and are attempting to make a mountain out of a mole hill over nothing.
You didnt seem to mind the asbestos you were putting in the air every time you hit the brakes in your car, which is hundreds of times more dangerous than smoking any amount of cigarettes.
So just remeber next time you wanna get all preachy about a non issue, your driving alone has caused more asbestosis related deaths than cigarettes, so stop driving your car, or stop complaining until you do, as your activities are way worse for more people than every e cig out there combined, though I am sure you already know tha. Like most humans though, your activities are just fine, it is everyone elses that are the problem.
I still gave you a star and flag, as it was worth knowing, I just find your position on the subject to be hypocritical at least.
Non-asbestos brake pads were introduced in the 1990s. At first they were not suitable for use in heavy-duty vehicles. As a result, asbestos brake pads were not suddenly eliminated, but slowly phased out.
What FACTS? You have no facts, only speculation and guessing at best. There are more pollutants in the air from auto exhaust and hairspray than from any e-cigarette. You wanna tell people to stop driving and ban hairspray or stop going outside?

Your personal attacks on me don't change the fact of what happened....
Not to mention my "experience" has NOTHING to do with the Peer Reviewed study in my OP....
You are trying to derail this by personal attacks.....I can take em all day buddy.....Doesn't change the FACTS
She said she had about a minute of feeling light headed as we sat back down, I suspected it was from the e-cigs that the table of older gentlemen were all smoking while sitting beside us.... It sounded like my wife got some nicotine from the e-cigs from the guys beside us, so I decided to look into this "safe" cigarette for people.... I agree to the smoker this is the safe alternative, but I don't want to breathe in the chemicals you are breathing in, and I damn sure don't want my daughter breathing this crap in either....

Well I must apologize I don't want my wife, my daughter, and myself breathing in YOUR crap chemicals you are putting into YOUR body!!
I don't want it, don't like it, shouldn't have to.....
Go smoke outside like smokers deserve.....
ANYWAYS....This has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the research I found, NOTHING to do with the studies that proved there are chemicals in the air from these e-cigs....
So if you will take the time to actually READ.....(it's simple, top to bottom, left to right.....Group of words together forms a sentence)..
...Read what the studies have proven and stop attacking me or my wife, we HAVE NOTHING to do with these studies....
Smokers just need to stay outside, that's all I am saying....edit on 3/19/2013 by Chrisfishenstein because: (no reason given)
