I've looked through some of the threads and haven't seen anything that answers my question and need a point in the correct direction.

Just how does ATS define "Breaking News". I believe I've seen somewhere that 3 days from publication as a guideline; does that mean original source publication or secondary, etc sources?

Then I need a definition of 'News' - does news include or exclude newly published 'commentary', 'opinion' on past news events. Or is news defined as strickly factual (yeah - I know) reporting of events?

It seems to be that everything gets pushed into a breaking news catagory and I need help you place topics in better locations.

Another question - is how are threads chosen for the Front (Home) Page?

And one more: Is there a way to search in: 1) a specific thread and 2) in a specific forum?
