Well, I think it looks hilarious! Yes, I am a Christian, but I also have a sense of humor. Don't go through life taking everything so seriously.

I think this thread has some relevance about where entertainment leads...

If you wish to blame entertainment for the detriment of societal values by all means have at it. You are certainly entitled to your opinions. As for your assertion that eventually it will lead to the actual hunting of human beings for entertainment seeing as how you have evidently watched a profuse amount of television it is a wonder you haven't become a psychotic murderer- I am not accusing you of being one, just saying that from the way you describe television you make it sound like it is turning everyone into violence loving psychopaths. To me that belongs in the same category as statements that infer that the internet is turning everyone into pornography addicts and sexual deviants.

Thank you iwilliam. I also become curious after watching or reading things (even fiction upon occasion) and research what is to be found so as to educate myself as much as possible. Also, I don't really get why the OP is being so judgemental instead of looking for the good that could come from the movie in question- but to each his own I suppose.

I grew up with tv just like everyone else... there is no tv in my home and hasn't been one in almost a decade as I get everything on-line.

I am not against entertainment per se, but I do observe patterns in society and by making violence common place we will have more violence because it is what is being pounded into your head from every venue.

As far as porn goes, I'm married and don't have that kind of desperation .

As far as this movie from the OP goes, just another tool to bring society to its inevitable outcome. Belittle Faith and make the Faithful sensitive about public displaying of Faith... drive it underground and eliminate it entirely. ... at least those who don't believe would hope so anyway.

Don't worry about the Christian Faith, it took the crucifixion and still stands as inspiration to many... just don't expect any dollars for sinfotainment out of my pocket.

I do find it curious though that you are so judgmental about where I am coming from and not even casting a glance at the root cause of the apparent apathy being displayed by all.

Sow a seed you reap a thought
Sow a thought you reap an action
Sow an action you reap a character
Sow a character you reap a destiny
mankind is at its destiny...

I wasn't judging where you were coming from, just telling you how it sounded to me. As I also grew up with television I have seen the good and the bad, and sometimes good that comes from the bad. There are many things that I find offensive on television these days and in those cases I turn the channel. But just as everything else does entertainment evolves with the times- sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Society is not a reflection of it's entertainment, entertainment is a reflection of society. The idiot box only shows the public what it clamors for, lest the advertisers would make no money and entertainment would become redundant. You gave examples in your thread one of which was the Roman Coliseum. At that time the violence of the arena was what the public clamored for and so it was given to them. Violent action movies started coming about after WW1&2 after horror had become a part of real life and was reflected in our entertainment. The sitcoms of the 70s tackled social issues and injustices (which were in the forefront of society) and brought them into the light so as to take away their power. More good came out of them than bad, and horrible things that were endured and not spoken of in polite company came out of the shadows to be faced and fought against such as racism, spousal abuse, drug abuse, child abuse, even rape- things that weren't reported to the police before due to the stigma attached to them. Nowadays we have shows about serial killers and pedophiles, but they have brought awareness to safety issues that are real and should be discussed in order to protect our loved ones. Reality shows? Honestly I'm scratching my head because I can find nothing redeeming about them- I guess it's just a matter of taste or intelligence.

I apologize if you took offense, but honestly people who become violent by watching a television show or movie or playing a video game didn't become that way from their choice of entertainment but because something is wrong with them mentally.

Thank you for that. Unfortunately written words don't carry inflection of spoken words so it is easy to misconstrue where someone is coming from.

You made a valid point of which I hadn't even considered... the chicken or the egg thing and all I know is, its a hell of a world.

That last line I posted about hunting humans I later realized to be a moot point (even though Hollywood portrayed the theme several times already) and its moot because it is open season on man in every war.

At any rate I apologize for my sensitivity. I'm just not comfortable with the trends.

There isn't a whole lot anybody can do to change it. A single sentence can enrage entire nations... there never seem to be enough words to calm it though.

As blowback of this film I suspect that there will be those Religions out there that will use these kinds of entertainment to justify acts against us since we seem to be without morality.or Spirituality.

It is places like here at ATS where they can see for themselves it is beyond our control..

... but then all I got to go on is my own feelings on the matter and I am learning that my feelings aren't shared by all. ... very few from the apparent lack of response so why even bother? The world won't stand still for anyone

While I might not have agreed with you I support you in offering your perspective whether it is shared by many or few. It is in discussing our many differences that we learn to understand one another, and that is always a very good thing!

1000 times this.

Your right to not be offended is in your own head.

I'll leave you alone to believe whatever you like, and you do the same for me, or its war.

Always has been, always will be.
