Mark Kelly's campaign against "assault weapons" such as the AR-15 rifle has sparked a local backlash. On March 13, a Tucson, Arizona radio host published a photograph of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords holding an AR-15 rifle at a gun range. Giffords has since confirmed that the photograph is authentic.

Nothing hypocritical about it.

They're special and you're lowly #. That's always how they've felt. Very consistent position for politicians.

According to the article She specifically requested the photo shoot in 2010 to "help" with her campaign. She's a politician afterall...and her husband ....?? gimme a break. He saw a good deal on AR bought it and then had second thoughts. Insiders have known about that picture for quite some time. Too bad hubby pissed them off....

Used guns in that town have a 20 day waiting period so the law can check the database to see if the gun can be linked to crime. Plus, he has not completed the NCIS forms for that purchase yet despite his statement that he wanted to show just how "easy" it was to buy an AR.
20 days to wait plus the paperwork. Note to those with criminal intent and a clean record. Buy New!

Wonder how Gifford's feels about being used as a throw away tool by the Obama administration?

Giffords was one of those rare pro-gun Democrats before she got shot in the head. It makes sense that she would have had pics taken like this.

Its a shame that she didn't have the courage to stick to her original convictions but, I guess getting shot by some nut can change your perspective.

ETA: If she really wanted to protect people from gun violence, she would work to outlaw SSRI rdugs instead of an inanimate object that wasn't even used in her shooting.
