How do Mods get chosen?

My guess you would have to be the following...
1.Politically correct,which I am not.
2.Know the T&C rules inside and out,I forget them a time or two
3.Have experience in dealing with difficult children since the board
can be compared to a school ground.
4.Be fair!
5.Put your feelings on the back burner.
6.Have a genuine love for the site.
7.Be prepared to spend many hours online keeping the peace and
controlling the trolls.
You do have some rewards...
1.The ability to scare others when you suddenly pop up in a heated thread
promising to pass out warnings.Then everyones halos start glowing and the bad
ones scatter offline like roaches when a light is turned on.
2.You get that really neat title under your ID!

crakeur, and with that clip, we now know the complicated process and due diligence used for selection. and of course, you do make the disclaimer that no chickens were harmed in the process, right?

Remember....

Mod's are members first.

We also do not "mod" threads that we are participating in as a member.

Not quite:

1. I'm not politically correct, the staff can attest to this
2. I was oblivious to the Tees and Cees when I was asked to join the staff, still fairly oblivious to them.
3. I do have experience with difficult children although, at the time I was asked to join, my son was too young to be deemed difficult.
4. I'm anything but fair
5. I don't have feelings.
6. I do love the site
7. troll controlling is a hobby I have

as to the rewards, nobody gets scared when I promise to pass anything other than gas.

emotionally scarred by having to poop in front of the entire ATS staff, with everyone shouting at the poor thing? most definitely but we do have an incredible poultryatrist on hand for councelling afterward

I'm still wondering how one gets access to the really good coffee.. I keep getting stopped by the hellhounds at the front door... I would think after that "thread" I would at least be able to have some Nes Latte..

Been a Mod on an old game site called Utopia and Fantasy Football site.
The amount of messages I always received was amazing.

I always hated the spammers, fun cleaning up the forums after a spam attack.

The Mods aren't chosen, they choose themselves.

Springer...

Choosing MODS is the same as choosing one of the site owners.

You see, many people here think Springer, Skeptic and the boys are all singular people. They are not.

The "ownership" of this site is much like Doctor Who, or James Bond. We change from time to time to keep up with public perception.

I was Springer once back in Late '94. My "tour" ran until the Summer of '97.

I was approached to be Skeptic Overlord in August of '98, but I had to decline as I had too much going on being that I was also Modding as AshleyD, Hefficide and GemWolf on an old AOL "talk of the nation" chatroom board.

So, if approached to be a MOD, you should decline until they offer you the BIG chair (SITE OWNER) since the brandy is better and CHICKS DIG GUYS WITH POWER AND FANCY TITLES.

OK I must go now, I just took a new "job" and must get my hat, diamond ring and staff made for my first public appearance.
