Despite a persistent famine that has killed tens of thousands, North Korea stepped into the online commerce realm with a web site featuring food products.

story.news.yahoo.com
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea may be better known for its food shortages but on Monday it launched a Web site packed with products ranging from buckwheat noodles and ginseng tea to kimchi spicy cabbage and herbal medicine.

"Beautiful fantastic goods in DPRK," says a revolving banner on the Chosun Expo Web Site (www.chosunexpo.com) featuring a young Korean woman in traditional hanbok dress.

South Korean entrepreneur Kim Beom-hun told Reuters the Web site was launched on Monday and was a sign Pyongyang was looking to open up more. The site is in English, Korean and Chinese, although some sections did not appear active yet.

"This site was not launched to make a profit," said Kim. "Similarly, you cannot buy anything from chosun.com. Various products are introduced in great details so that if people are interested, they can go to distributors and outlets."

His company said the site was one of just a handful run out of North Korea. Most official North Korea-linked sites are hosted outside, typically from Japan where there is a large North Korean community.

Why of course...
South Korea has a food aid program for NK...
They send tons of cooked noodles to the republic on a consistant schedule... to aid the humanitarian problem...
the reason they are cooked before they send them....
obviously.... Ol' Kim jong would sell them for weapons money...
can't sell cooked noodles... only dry ones... (like these being offered).
selling his peoples food so he can have more toys...
Hey Kim... why not just sell your people instead? being a slave in another country would be a big step up for those poor ignorant victims...
He is the worst tyrant of this world, and why no one has put a bullet in the grand leaders head is beyond me... I don't think we would find one country that would argue for him to stay in power... NOT ONE!
he has nothing except poor starving people, and lots of weapons that he has gained at his peoples sacrifice...
where is the STAR CHAMBER when you need one?
