As a big fan of the original, I can't wait to see how they do.....

I love me some Evil Dead although this looks less humorous than what Bruce Campbell brought to it. I'll still see it of course. Love me some horror. I was the weird kid huddled up with the Fangoria magazine.

Wow,thanks for the headzup,
I didn't know they were making a remake.
The original is a classic.
Bruce Campbell was great-he made it funny as well as scary. The necronomicon was well done also, with strange hiroglyphs and scary images.

The new trailer looks more nasty than light hearted horror, but I shall reserve judgement.
Also-I noticed Baphomet in the necronomicon-hmmm,not sure if he would have figured in the Lovecraft version,as he ain't one of the "old ones."

Anyhow,we shall see.

Funny when I was younger that was fun to get scared or grossed out.

Possession, Rape, Mutilation, Torture, and Violence against women, sadly this is only a comment or reflection on what our culture finds entertaining.

People who think this has no effect on their psychi, attitudes or empathy have lost the innocence of a child. There is no value or lesson to be learned (sure don't read the Necronomicon or be careful what doors you open) but nothing that advances us, gives us strength of hope.

The world is a whole lot scarier, disgusting and disturbed with more REAL GORE I have witnessed than any of the gore porn they can ever fake, this only helps to create Apathy and numbness toward the REAL EVIL.

If there is going to be a remake, I hope Bruce Campbell plays in it and let's not leave out his boomstick.

Bah, not even close to the real thing.

Now that's disappointing.

Bruce said this one was a more serious take on it.

Of course, the first one of the original was actually pretty serious too...the later ones got a bit more humorous. (mostly because Bruce's character went nuts after the events of the first movie)....

Oh and to throw my 2 cents in there about the Remake.

How many remakes are actually good? 1 out of 10? If even that! Where is the Originality? Where is a new story?

There is a reason the original is a cult classic! But they know they have a built in fan base who will spend $12 to go see it even if they walk out disappointed they still gotcha...And you suckers keep falling for it.

Anyone notice the AD's are already going...(ATS has to pay the bills)

So even despite my belief of what this does to you personally, I am also surprised at how many times we have been fooled, tricked and scammed out of our money for yet another bad remake. Or the prequel (Prometheus anyone???)

Seriously for all those who are jacked about this lack of originality in Hollywood, will you ever learn? There are 10,000 scripts from damn good writers waiting to be made and instead they recycle (wait...with a TWIST LOL) and the majority morons keep voting with their dollars. How many times have you fallen for THE HYPE? Roll the trailer at COMIC CONS boys we got another winner! Drum up the geek out fervor cause we got make our bank!

Come back when it is out and I will revel in your disbelief or anger or sadness that it was mediocre or worse horrible LOL get it HORRIBLE...I promise not to say "I TOLD YOU SO" but I will say....I might have mentioned it!

I am hopeful,

But they are not just remaking Evil Dead, they are also sort of responsible for remaking Bruce Campbell, and I don't know if they are up for that.

Looks to me like they tried to get around the issue by splitting Bruce up in to the 'jock' guy and the 'geek' guy. I'm really tough on movies so I'll just wait till the soups on the table.

Could happen though, ya never know.

P.S. Erm, yeah, I'll pass. I don't want it jacking up my nice memories of the old one. The main reason that I am out, is because they had a prime chance to pump up the Lovecraftian elements of the film and just didn't even bother.

Straight to Netflix, I am thinking.

I tend to like remakes...sure, they may not always be as good as the original, but often, they bring something to the table. I actually liked Prometheus. It took me a while, but I even learned to like the Star Wars prequels (as long as I fast forwarded whenever Jar Jar was on the screen) (that's actually serious, not even a joke).

Horror remakes tend to fare better also....the Nightmare on Elmstreet one wasn't bad, for example.

As for being suckered, there's a great restaurant near my theater, that gives a great discount with a ticket stub. Basically, it means it only ends up costing us one ticket, when we do dinner and a movie, and it's one of our favorite restaurants. We always get our ticket, eat our meal, and never need way overpriced soda or snacks after.

Movie theater inflation should be defined as illegal...has to be at least a 300% margin for soda and about 200% for candy.

because they had a prime chance to pump up the Lovecraftian elements of the film and just didn't even bother.

I'd love to see a movie really delve into that genre....most just touch on it, those that use it. It has so much potential....

You cannot Remake Bruce. A very humorous underrated and overlooked actor, he is what made that movie what it is.

Although there will be winks and nods and Easter eggs galore it cannot do what Cabin in the Woods just did and without Evil Dead there would have never been a "Cabin in the Woods"! They totally missed that mark and only will rehash the now old (older than even the Elder Things) tired genre.

I am sorry I enjoy HP Lovecraft and this has less then the original but 10x the buckets of blood! They even admit it, 25% More fake blood in Remake of Evil Dead.

Yes, Evil Dead had blood and gore but most of all...it had a dark creepy foreboding that sent chills down your spine that today's splatter-fest PornGore hacks can't find the Herbert West formula to reanimate...

Blood and Gore and body horror are not all that made Evil Dead a classic nor do they scare or chill to the bone. These GoreWhores don't know how to tell an original story that will creep you out they only want to make you throw up...

Here!
HERE!

Isn't that the truth, movie looks nothing like him and it doesn't even have his sense of humor.

With Bruce you were taken inside the madness! You saw a crazed loon someone who doubted reality because of the Horror of what was happening! It was driving him insane and that is what a big majority of HP Lovecraft's writing was INSANITY! Bruce was laughing at what was happening and we were a little too because it was completely WTF??? The mind can't comprehend so laugh giddy wide-eyed and mad!

There has been so little done and done well with Cthulhu mythology and the Macabre why keep repeating the same old movie plot? The old stories that haven't been touched are still freaky to me today! Some of which are hundred years old now still chill me, make an unconscious shudder roll down my back like something unseen blowing as the hairs on my neck stand on end!

Madness, Mental Horror, Blurring of reality, a creeping sensation that there is something on your back! Alien and no way to describe or understand what you witness!

Very few directors and actors can pull this off and it is often the less shown the better! Your imagination ruled and spooked you so that ever corner held something and your feet were vulnerable under the seat...

I am sorry I saw none of the dark humor or the madness the laugh cause WTF is happening the world has gone insane! So I have to hate this...

What I wrote at the beginning is the truth I am sick and tired of Torture Porn, it's not scary.

It also should be pointed out that this was written by Diablo Cody. If that name doesn't ring any bells: she wrote Juno. So, I'm don't have much hope for this movie, even if it weren't a re-make.

On the other hand, she did write Young Adult and that's not bad.

Dead by Dawn was essentially a reboot of 1 and is amazing. Campbell, Tapert and Raimi put their names on it, if it's bad I will hold them responsible.

As you should! But to me it was the fact that Raimi had no budget and Campbell is over the top that made this movie a classic! It will not happen in the remake!

This thread got me thinking of why I am so done with the reboot/remake. It is tired! I was pretty jacked a few years ago about the remakes because well better effects, better acting etc. But often they either leave the original story behind (which is always more superior) or they lack the actors who made it shine.

Let's look at some facts...
Rotten Tomatoes will show the way! Because some how now somehow the remake has 7.7 stars on IMDB and it isn't even out? The Smell of Hype reeks...lol this thread is even a part of that hype and the more I type EVIL DEAD the more ads show up! LOL OMG! UGH!

Moving on.

Evil Dead (original) holds a 100% rating ONE HUNDRED flipping percent! LOL
EDII 98% WOW...not bad for a sequel (which was actually a rebootish/sequel)

Now just Genre in an original vs. Remake show down Here are some of my all time top Favorites and the far crappier remakes!

Halloween (Original) 94%
Halloween (2007) 25%

Friday the 13th (Original) 59%
Friday the 13th (2009) 25%

The Omen (1976) 85%
The Omen (2006) 27%

The Fog (1980) 68%
The Fog (2005) 4% UGH I was so mad after taking a date to this one!

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) 95%
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) 15%

Day of the Dead (1985) 81%
Day of the Dead (2007) 14%

Have I made my point?
I see a trend. But everyone else including Hollywood can't...And now they make re-boots every couple of years??? WTF??

I am betting the re-boot... is at worse around 25% because of who is involved! At best It won't live up to the HYPE they have created and I predict will still be a stinker around 50%. Meaning you disappointed a lot of the original fans!

And fine I admit until it comes out and I hear from my Brother-in-law who is a Horror/Bruce Campbell fanatic, I will hold off seeing it unless he loved it as I just can't take the gore anymore...But in the trailer I saw none of that insane humor or shotguns and chainsaws.
