This is not Obama's doing... it's the lack of Congress adequately forming a budget for FY 2013 for the DoD. He's proposed a budget to Congress that only slightly reduced the DoD budget and increased taxes for the wealthy. Congress turned it down. The real issue is Congress here...

The Budget of the United States Government begins as the President's proposal to the U.S. Congress and for 5 years he has not proposed one.

Again... you have no clue what you're talking about. The President has proposed a budget consisting of an increase in taxes on wealthy and smaller cuts on programs. Congress keeps denying them because they refuse tax hikes on the wealthy. The President then developed Sequestration as a means to make things so bad that Congress would either have to give in or propose something better. They did neither. So we are now faced with the President's budget... which he attempted to avert numerous times, called "Sequester". This was in fact his second budget (and law) if Congress didn't act on their behalf by approving his budget or coming up with something they considered better. So if he never proposed a budget, then who came up with this budget we currently face (sequestration)? Get your facts straight.

This is outrageous. But on the other hand everybody agrees in principle with cuts. As long as it doesn't cut into their own govt benefits! This sequester will trickle down real fast. By mid to late April we'll see even more of this stuff and it's only the tip of the iceberg. Soon we'll have defense contractors start laying off and all those well paid jobs will stop funding mortgages or local economies. Domino effect.

Us, the people who work for a living, won't get any benefit from all these budget cuts and reductions. The only winners are those on top and the politicians who get freebies for life... like healthcare and pension and whatnot. This is the new normal. The new Monarchy vs the Plebes. Get used to it!

But hey, let's keep on cheering for the budget cuts and reduced taxes for the top 1% and call anybody who doesn't agree a socialist!

So....

Our American heroes get their tuition cut.

Illegal Aliens? They get better treatment than the soldiers who serve this country:

A bill allowing lower tuition rates for illegal immigrant students received final approval from state House lawmakers Friday.

The lesson here? Folks who do not mean this country well are making more and more laws to rule us by.

This country has plenty of money to fund studies to discover why lesbians tend to be fat. We can spend fortunes to teach Moroccans how to make pottery. Don't get me started on robotic squirrels and Pizza for Mars.

But White House tours are cut?

How much more until even the sports & celebrity-sedated useful idiots discover how they've been played?

My guess is never, even after we've been rounded up into well controlled population centers, living in our "free" state provided hovels, eating our "free" state provided rations and forced to work at gunpoint thanks to no one wealthy enough to be looted further, to pay for our dreamy collective utopia.

So, we clearly can't count on them.

Then, who can we count on?

Bravo to you! It is an absolute outrage that Illegals get lower tuition rates while our American heros get cuts. This is unacceptable!!!!!!!

My husband recently got an email that a school he's wanted to attend for some time finally had tuition assistance offered. Then he got the notice that there was no more tuition assistance. In this case, Army. Completely messed up! I really can't WAIT till he's out - a year or less! That said, a LOT of the "old school" military people are leaving the military, because of all the drastic changes. What is left when they are all gone? Not what people want. The fate of the nation is in grave peril at this stage.

Career politicians. Who are the only ones who could vote themselves a raise, exempt themselves from obozocare, and profit from insider trading?

Who is making money and wealth in this orchestrated economic collapse of the US?

Career politicians - both dems and repubs.

The writing is on the wall. They have to take our guns - not all of us are dumb-downed drones and communists.

OP, I have no words to describe how this makes me think or feel, I am floored and incredibly in shock for you and all our other Armed service personnel who went in knowing that if they make it out safety, they can own a better future and afford a higher education.

I have such a sick and sinking feeling right now.

The obozo administration made it legal for women (girls) to be in combat also. I have a step-son 16, and a granddaughter 10.

Israel forces everyone to be in the military for 2 years, I believe.

It's bad enough that we rigged our education system to be unattainable enough to entice young people into killing other young people just to afford it. But then taking that away from them after they've committed horrible sins for the chance of a middle class life? Deplorable.

If they do try to instigate a draft, it would be a way for them to embed RFID chips and poison our young adults with every imaginable vaccine.

They never will. As long as there are people alive who remember the last time we did that, they won't even dare.

Because things happen like this thread is about. Spending is controlled from the top with sequestration and programs that help people get cut. Additionally hundreds of thousands of people lose 20% of their pay because nobody wants to give up fancy weapons system funding.

My goodness... thank you for chiming in. This man speaks truth in this matter... I just hope that more people will realize the madness in Washington so that we can join together and start firing the fools making idiotic decisions for our country. Washington needs a deep scrub cleaning.

Don't worry... "The Company" (i.e. DHS) is ramping up and will soon join the wars of the USA... or fight against America to create a new SSA (Separated States of America)

For those of you out there that think no TA is a reason to not reup...good. The military needs people who actually want to serve. Go ask a policeman on how much TA he gets now, then ask him how much bah he gets, now ask how much bas, and ask him if how much more he gets paid for getting shot at.

TA loss? TA was a burden to the tax payers. Time to start spending wisely for our country's future and stop thinking about ourselves.

Stop thinking about being entitled to stuff.
edit on 13-3-2013 by ChuckNasty because: added loss after ta and questionmark.

I don't think anyone is saying they will not reenlist because of this. People are upset because this should not be where we start cuts, if it needs to be cut to balance the budget, so be it. But shouldn't we stop giving benefits to people here illegally first? Shouldn't foreign aid be ended first... and to countries that are not in any way allies?

I think most people are upset that this is cut prior to what most see as wasted, if not criminal spending.

This type of cutting is not new however; it’s done at local, state, and federal levels intentionally. It creates an uproar/panic that draws attention to politics which most people only get information about from the MSM, which is democratic, thus public support sways in their direction. Locally it's police, emergency services and schools that cut first.
There are plenty of other areas that can be cut first...As already mentioned the 1.5 Million dollar study to understand why lesbian women tend to be obese and gay Men tend to the opposite... Really? 1.5 Million to study that? Ask anyone who's ever been in a relationship why that might be. Men like pretty partners and are not as into feelings, Women like pretty things but will overlook appearances of their partner for deeper reasons. And why does that matter anyway? There are tons of useless studies and programs that shouldn't exist. Should we really be taxing people to fund such stupidity?
As for Police Officers, they get other benefits you do not get in the military; many people in the military get out, becoming police officers. If being in the military is such a sweet gig, why do you suppose that is? Do you know that less than 10% of people that Enlist in the Marine Corps stay in to retirement? If you get so many good benefits and entitlements why would that be?

I agree if we can't afford TA, then let’s cut it, but TA is not the problem with our budget. It's wasteful stupid spending on programs that the federal government should have nothing to do with.

I read an article a couple years ago that stated that a new contract for fueling military aircraft was paying $50 a gallon. It replaced the old contract at less than $4 a gallon. The new contract was with an Obama campaign donor. They could cut less painful things than tuition. They just want it to hurt. The current administration cares nothing for people. It is all about the agenda of installing Socialism.

Anyone in the military who worked with supply or maintenance knows that the government pays significantly more for everything than the average person would pay. I personally spent a LOT of tax payers' dollars on parts that could have been procured at a local radio shack for much much less than we had to pay through our supply system. I can tell you first hand that if I was given access to supplies with the appropriate prices, I could have saved enough money to pay for my whole platoon to attend college. I used to wonder who is making all that money.

When I got out of the Corps and looked into opening my own business, I found that veteran-owned businesses are given preference for government contracts. It then became obvious that the sweetheart deals that contractors get is just another example of the good ol' boys' network. It has nothing to do with a socialist agenda or Obama -- it is systemic (not systematic). In my opinion this favoritism and back-scratching is the primary problem with our country... it hurts us politically, socially and economically.

**Bonus anecdote**

When I was in Iraq, there were people who worked for General Dynamics who had the exact same knowledge, training and aptitude as me -- I could have easily done their job. It was not an issue of man hours either; I spent the majority of my days doing nothing, and so did the guys from General Dynamics. The difference between us was that they made about $300,000 per year for their nothing while I made about %10 of that for doing my nothing.

When talking heads from the DoD talk about their budget, it's important to understand just how much money the DoD wastes. They just need to be willing to give up the good ol' boys' way and do what almost every other consumer and business owner in this country does -- look for the best deal.

Make no mistakes about it, the United States military is a for-profit corporation. They generate trillions in profits from outsourcing contracts to companies like KBR, Haliburton, Rayethon, etc.

Now, let's take a broader view. Today, we have an international cabal which controls everything at the upper echelons. In a sense, nation borders are only used today as a tool to devise methods of division (wars). The sociological equivalent of this tool is called Patriotism.

Ask yourself why America has only been engaged in conflicts which those of different skin colors, social mores, and religions. It is because those enemies have been hand picked by the controllers due to social differences. It is much easy to demonize a culture which is alien to you.

Patriotism may be the main reason why many soldiers employed by the military industrial complex fight for their country but the main motivations of your employer are mainly financial.

For military, you better believe they would do just that! They already give them all sorts of vaccines, and mandatory flu shots, etc. Military people don't have much say in that. Yeah, very feasible. Did you know that, as a military member, you are basically considered government property? NOT joking. When I was in, a long time back, if you got a sunburn, they could bust you for damaging government property. Sounds like a joke, but it isn't. I could see a draft being pushed, with men AND women forced in. Women already no w allowed in combat (STUPID MOVE!!), and thus no reason to restrict a draft to men any longer.
