And what happens when the oil runs out? Is corporate regulation or deregulation going to fix that

So what? Your entire society is built around oil, not just in the aspect of energy consumption. Almost everything you own is either made of or
transported to you with oil. The whole of modern western civilization exists due to the extraction (with conscripted labor, of course) and consumption
of a non-renewable resource.
It's going to collapse. There is no political solution. Let's stop playing by their rules. In fact, let's not even play their game. That's the first
step in "fixing things"--a complete refusal of playing it their way.
