No, this is still about money. It is a good business decision for them to protest by not selling to the ones that are causing them to lose customers. If they didn't do anything, their businesses would go bankrupt. If they do do something, they at least have a chance to survive.

Agreed with poster above.
It's still about money. They'll take a hit over the next few months because of their current stance but it is a business decision.
Not only will they secure the profits in the civilian sector of it. There will be a huge influx of purchases on the state level because they haven't been able to buy anything in the last little while.

Corporations dont give a # about peoples rights to own guns. all they see is dollar signs.

I am a LEO in a pro 2nd Ammendment state (Florida) and I support all these companies that have decided to not sell to agencies in anti 2nd Ammendment states. At first I was upset because I thought the companies were discontinuing sales to all LEO/agencies in all states. That was an error on my part.

If any fellow LEO's in anti 2nd Ammendment states are upset about these decisions look at it this way. LEO agencies can have major influence on the passing of these anti 2nd Ammendment laws. Especially states with huge agencies, ie NYPD, Chicago PD. I am sure if the NYPD and the likes spoke out against these laws they wouldn't have passed.

Instead they either agreed with the anti 2nd Ammendment ideas or just stood by and did nothing about it. Either way they will reap what they sow.

To the individual Officers in these states that disagree with the laws that were passed I advise you to speak out. I understand you may be ousted by your peers, but this issue is bigger than that.

NO, not really.
Hundreds if not thousands of LEA US wide make small orders to the small manufactures for customized rifles for SWAT/HRT and special groups.
While I agree that the large manufactures supply the lion share of handguns, the small manufactures are putting a hurt on by not offering service and products to departments.

Aot of those companies you listed also buy their parts from the companies on the list. Not all of them make their own parts. (ie: Stocks, foregrips, sights, etc)

I'm wondering if the parts companies will continue to fulfill their contracts. If they don't then Colt and the rest are screwed and will not be able to fulfill their orders for some time as they retool, or move themselves.

Personally, I'm all in favor of gun bans in socialist cities such as New York and Chicago. The more vulnerable citizens there are in the socialists cities, the more incentive for the criminals to remain in New York and Chicago to pillage and plunder upon the helpless.

When those criminals deign to leave their harbors of socialist familiarity to venture out into Constitutionalist country, then we have to take care of said criminals. Let the New York and Chicago and Detroit cops and people pull their hair out seeking a solution to where there is none available to them anymore.

Why sell a perfectly good gun to a doomed city? There's too many of us out here willing to buy up the product for our fun and protection. Socialists belong in their environs. We're content to keep them out of ours.

And we don't even want to see those New Yorkers crossing their borders in search of a 32 ounce Big Gulp soda. Remain where you are and suffer in the environments socialists have created for themselves.

That's good to ensure that the LE only has the same weapons as their populace is allowed.

Now I wish that EVERY company would disallow their LE special sales.

Over the years there have been quite a few times that I was disallowed something simply because I am not law enforcement. That's crap. It is they who should not be allowed to outgun me.

Plus the ammo companies could have done so much better by limiting the government to 50% of the ammo on hand. I'm sure that for them, it was all about the money. Since it has been a YEAR since I could get the ammo that I usually choose, just regular stuff, they have lost my respect forever.

WHO WILL THE GUN COMPANIES SELL MORE WEAPONS TO
Civilians or Government?

BTW there are some REAL gun companies on this list.
Please do your homework and research before
shooting off at the mouth.

Now if the ammo makers would do the same, perhaps people would have a box available to buy at Walmart occasionally to go out and target shoot for a nice afternoon. At least the gun makers are taking a stand though. Good to hear it!

There is definitely a strange break in the flow of ammo to traditional retailers. Check out Gun Broker and search for 9mm and .22 lr. It is amazing. That is where all of the ammo has gone as people and potential "insiders" seek to double their money or more. One seller with 15 different ammo auctions just for .22 is quite stunning when you look at the quantities and the prices that people are actually paying.

Stop shooting and stop paying high prices needs to be the message to all shooters right now. The ammo will magically reappear back on the shelves where it belongs. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay 30 bucks for a 50 round white box of Winchester .

Just say hell no!!

Due to the increase in the price of ammo, don't expect any warning shoots.

More shooters are shooting less at paper targets. Or we are taking more time between shots, spending more time on developing accuracy with each shot.

Then there are those who go to Knob Creek to let off steam:

Twice a year, hundreds of licensed machine gun owners and military collectors converge from all over the country to flex their muscle. They buy, sell, trade…and you guessed it…blast away at anything and everything. Located in West Point, Kentucky, just outside of Fort Knox, this former military munitions test range provides the perfect backdrop for this explosive, heart pounding event. Hundreds of different types of machine guns from all over the world. From state of the art to early vintage, from completely silenced to ground pounding.

Never fear. British Company BAE Systems will supply guns and ammunition from its plants in the USA to the US Government i am sure. As a British company they will be probably pleased on the US Governments stance on private gun ownership.

Take a look at who actually owns BaE, you might be surprised.

Last time I scratched at this rhetoric...I found that the gun makers who were "refusing" to sell to the gov....had no contracts with the gov! Easy to take a stand when you aren't losing money and are a little sour grapes about not being on the "vendor list" to begin with.

Those prices are just absurd. I have a few bricks of .22 ammunition from quite some time back for a couple bolt action .22's and a 10/22. I never thought of .22 as anything but cheap target stuff at pennies on the enjoyment.

Perhaps this is as much about predatory private ammo hoarders as Gov't running the market on a few calibers they prefer. It's just obscene for what I've seen on a couple classified sites I'm on and noted several regulars running small text ads saying just how cheesy it is to be taking advantage of people in the price runs.

It's not even looking all that great for *REAL* gun law changes to happen or at least, in any degree to what some hoped. Even those that have passed, may face state supreme court slap downs. So the reasons that started the panic are easing, if a anything. it's not even slowing the predatory selling though.

How will that make people feel that paid $2,500 for $500 AR-15's? Oh that's going to be painful if the market corrects itself and returns to sane levels. Millions of people will watch values in new guns just crash like glass on concrete.

Which companies are supplying the gov't and their 2 billion round ammo purchases? That's the real question now.

I remember reading an article a few years ago that said the major ammo and gun companies were being bought up by a Soros group. This is before all the gun grabbers got so nosey.

If someone can find who is supplying the gov't with their ammo, and who owns the company at the top - it would be important and, most likely, quite revealing to see.

i think the ammo issue is a separate issue from guns as SOME but not all ammo manufactures are under contract with the government to first supply our military then LE then civilians

as to who makes the ammo id have to say localy federal fills a good deal of government ammo contracts,BAE supplies a good deal of equipment to usa and allies but unsure if its ammo,we get a good deal of ammo from the Israelis too, various US arsenals (Radford, Lake City, Twin Cities) as well as Winchester and federal(they call them gi brass)supply the bulk of 9mm ammo with IMI

223/7.62 made almost excursively by lake city or Winchester as well with Radford and twin cities making the older ammo (30.06,45acp,.50cal as they are a government arsenal but the IDF supplies alot of ammo to our troops in iraq as they are closer geographically then the USA is to the middle east

not an expert by any means so dont take this as gospel but its what i found in my search of the matter

www.snopes.com...

www.factcheck.org...

FULL ANSWER The anonymous author of this chain letter asks why the media haven’t reported that George Soros is connected to a company that is buying a lot of other companies that make guns and ammunition. The answer to that question is simple: because it isn’t true. Soros doesn’t own Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity firm founded in 1992 by Stephen Feinberg and William Richter. Both Feinberg and Richter currently serve as two of the firm’s senior managing directors. And Feinberg, also the firm’s chief executive officer, is an avid hunter.

www.nssfblog.com...

If a cat has nine lives, then a rumor must have 999. Two rumors we thought were tamped out—one about anti-gun financier George Soros controlling Freedom Group, which owns Remington, Bushmaster, Marlin and a host of other industry companies, and the other about bogus Senate Bill 2099 that would require firearms owners to list their guns on their federal tax forms—have flared up again. Neither is true. As for the Soros rumor, the investor is neither connected to Freedom Group nor Cerberus Capital Management, the firm which owns Freedom Group. Freedom Group is a privately owned corporation run by sportsmen, shooters and firearms enthusiasts. With respect to S.B. 2099, there is no such legislation that would allegedly require gun owners to list their firearms on their tax documents and pay upward of $50 per gun owned.

www.nraila.org...

George Soros has never been a part of Freedom Group or Cerberus. Further, as Cerberus is a privately owned corporation, run by sportsmen, shooters and firearms enthusiasts, we can say with great sincerity and certainty that George Soros will never be a part of the Freedom Group family of companies.

just saying that soros freedom group connection has been proven to be fake numerous times from a variety of sources from snopes to the nra (opposite ends of the spectrum) www.ammoland.com...

Same thing happened when the Tyrant 0bama was first elected. ARs went from $500, to $2000. People bought them on their CC, crapped themselves after 4 months when they paid attention to the CC bill, and tried to resell them, but only got $800.

The correction will happen. How fast and what the corrected price will be is unknown.

If someone can find who is supplying the gov't with their ammo, and who owns the company at the top - it would be important and, most likely, quite revealing to see.

Who supplies the Government? Sierra Bullet supplies a large % of the components (Like precisely weighed and tested bullets) and Lake City is one of the primary facilities which fills ammunition orders to the Federal Government. They specialize in runs of .223 and other common, high demand contract calibers.

The thing is.... Gun manufacturers are a dime a dozen. Everywhere. Especially when one gets into AR-'s. Everyone and their brother throw out a shingle for making AR- Rifles in the last few years it seems. That end of it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to control because any machine shop can make another rifle. (Garden tools can make AK-47's...I watched something here on ATS showing the start-finish creation. What an eye opener)

That all changes as one moves UP the chain and I think that's what the Government has finally made major effort to exploit and disrupt.

Anyone can make a gun.... Few can formulate gun powder to specifications and fewer still can produce the explosive device we call call a modern Primer. Start running the market where those core components become short and the WHOLE ammo market shorts....since the supply of those little thought about but absolutely required items are depleted for ALL Calibers and not just the ones being ordered in the billions, IMO.
