I have lived long enough to understand that if an expert tells you what something then most will believe the expert and you will see it that way. Our brains interpret what we hear and see, they interpret it by the knowledge we hold. Our brains can be conditioned to see something that isn't real. From the day we are born, society conditions us.

I don't expect someone who can't grasp what I say to believe what I say. Scientific evidence can also be tainted by this concept because testing that is considered pertinent to consensus of the time is only done.

Armature Astronomers will also see things as their knowledge allows. Haven't you ever watched a very good magician, they use our perception to fool us. So do big time con artists....Too big to be crooked.

They just release boring matter-of- fact accurate reports on actual things that are true.

They don't know much about this one comet coming into the solar system this year. They do not know how it is going to act when it gets near the sun because we have no evidence to compare it to. It could be a big asteroid covered with ice also.

They don't call it the possible comet of the century for no reason. Did you see Halley comet, that was impressive or the one that we had about thirteen years or so back, the halo was way bigger than the moon on that one. Those were in a different century thoughMedia and Science may be pulling the wool over our eyes.

The laws of physics are about to change, EG a constant like big G is going to suddenly revise itself.

Not trying to say this is real, but you do understand that if a juoiter sized mass was heading towards the inner solar system, we wouldnt have to run into anything tonbe exterminated right? All it would take is to elongate our orbit by a small degree, putting us closer on the approach, and farther on the outswing, disrupting our entire ecosystem, thnk venus and mars, then combine them on earth, we woukd not survive.

Also, jupiter and the earth are n ot even close in size, jupiter is a house, earth is a baseball, see the difference?

There may be some massive gas giants orbiting the sun beyond or within the Oort cloud. If so, they've been there forever. They do not dive-bomb the inner system periodically ala "Nibiru". They just go in circles in the ecliptic, so far out you can't see them.

Well, in a fit of neo-theosophy, some of the whack jobs call "Nibiru" "Planet X". Now, "Planet X" or "the 10th planet" for those illiterate in Roman numerals, is a name that astronomers use as a sort of catch-all for 'a possible comet-explaining gas giant that may or may not be orbiting the Sun out in the Oort'. However, now that the lizard-flying monkey people have tried attaching "nibiru" to "planet x", it ends up confusing people that don't read for content, and you get a lot of "OMG, NASA admitted to Planet x!!!11!!" posts, where the gentle reader has missed the point that Nibiru-planetx is not the same as astronomer-planetx.

This is analogous to the folks that use 'vibration', 'energy', or 'field' in a theosophical way, then get confused about physics terms spelled the same which do not describe the same phenomena.

Lets keep a little perspective here. A brown dwarf entering the Solar System itself, as in, within the inner planets, would be catastrophic in a way hard to describe. Suicide might not be the worst idea...If such a thing were 100% confirmed as happening and without question, progressing. Hopeless would be a fair term, if it were coming into the inner Solar System where we live. Yeah, Hopeless would be a fair term, I think. Without a ship to be elsewhere, anyway.

Good thing that's not happening, huh? lol.... Tyche and Nemesis both are theories but FAR FAR distant theories. Wayyyy out in the oort cloud, theories. I think the worst we have to fear in any direct way, if either exists, is that they throw objects out of the Oort cloud that may hit us one of these days. That's rather rude for a nieghbor...but again, one far too distant to even send probes to and learn in our lifetimes if something is there or not, as I understand it.

One of my first threads on here was about Tyche. I happened to have this floating around from that.


(That's the scary version..and back around the Elenin fear days when at least a half dozen objects were being worried about by some, around the same time. It shows the Oort cloud and how far out it is in general relation to everything)

There are many though...and this little guy is what had originally cued me anyway. This has a projected return trip time of about 11,400 years. If anything should have rung bells of interest and coincidence, you'd have thought this one would for the timing to historic events.



Oh well.. Just my two cents. I'm not worried abut the idea of a Brown Dwarf in the close neighborhood until or unless we start seeing RADICAL changes and behavior in the outlaying planets. They'd get smacked around first and I don't think there would be anything subtle about it from that kind of visitor.

Modern astronomy has been build on ordinary people looking through telescopes (which they usually constructed themselves) and studying / measuring / recording what they see. And even now, the available knowledge and the tenets are constantly tested. What's preventing you from becoming an "expert", as you put it? I have been familiar with the amateur astronomy (even though I'm not part of it) for long enough to see that you can't tell them what to think and what to do.

Er,no. An asteroid is a rock in close orbit around the Sun. ISON is a comet

Media and Science may be pulling the wool over our eyes.

Some describe is as possibly being the comet of the century because current estimations are that it'll be the brightest and most easily seen (for the general public) comet since Hale Bopp.

I didn't see Halley's comet becasuse on its last approach it wasn't very bright. I did see Hale Bopp - whose halo was not bigger than the Moon as seen from Earth.

Not really. The X in this case is the Latin letter "x" which stands for "unknown". Planet X is a term for any possibly existing Solar System planet out there that hasn't been yet discovered. Pluto was the Planet X when its presense was guessed by astronomers but before it was actually discovered. en.wikipedia.org...

Let's see..... ummm, it has taken the Voyagers more than 36+ years to reach the edge of our Solar System ~
right about where the supposed Brown Dwarf was 'disturbing' the large OORT cloud of comets/meteors/ice-asteroids back in 2011...


Ergo... the present cluster of rocks and comets that is bombarding the inner solar-system must have traveled at a couple million miles-per-hour (my rough est. is 2.7 Million mph) to make that distance in under 2 years if they came from the OOrt cloud at all.

all the recent space junk & comets are of the everyday variety, speeding towards the Sun at around the normal range of between 35,000-150,000 mph
