Privatization means that the business either thrives or bankrupts with no tax dollars to keep a sinking ship afloat... Amtrak and the USPS are only afloat because of the taxpayers... and let's face it, when it comes to "business sense" the United States government is the LAST entity that should be running ANY for-profit enterprise.

Remembered hearing of this (not a tax) awhile ago.

There is only 1 for-profit business that the government needs to handle which would then turn it back into a normal thing and that is prisons. Other then that, yeah the government has no clue how to save or spend money correctly. They literally think it grows on trees with how fast they are spending it. Insanity at it's finest...now for Ludicrous Speed!!!!

What about a preemptive tax? Just to make sure no tax is overlooked?

Silly ideas. Everyone knows we should subsidize the smoke signal makers to keep those horse and buggy wipper snappers in line!

Eventually they will tax the air we breath and the rain that we 'allow' to fall on our homes and gardens.

Theres a very good and prophetic short story called 'Air Cube' from a few years back that discusses the gradual acclimatisation of taxes creeping in to every area of life. I highly recommend it if you can track it down.

1MB of data from Facebook might cost more than 1MB of data from google.

Why doesn't the post office just use tax payer money to subsidize their operation costs and start offering services comparable to UPS or FedEX at a much lower cost? Once they drive them out of business, they can buy up their assets and jack up the cost. Then they can propose a third party operations tax on e-mail while offering free email themselves to force people to use them exclusively for email. Then they can start charging for all their email services.

Hopefully then they can get themselves solvent financially and stop using taxpayer money.

that is ridiculous.. surly they make more now with inline shopping,the items have to posted to the buyer. take a look at ebay or amazon for example the postage cost is crazy high.
