Elsewhere on that map there are a couple of blackbirds, a U2 and an F117. just above these there is something else seemingly of the Blackbird era? is that one of those drone things they used to drop from the A12?

Yep....the item in the car park is a D-21 Drone which was carried on top of the blackbird/A12.

If you have a look at Davies Monthan AFB on Google maps you will find three or four of them mothballed...!!!

You missed some other fun ones too. The SCA, SOFIA, NASA DC-8, and two retired 787s. Not as sexy as stealth and the others, but still really cool to see them sitting there.

Any idea what these are?

They look like they might be manoeuvring trolleys of some sort.

That first image looks a lot like Lockheed's SENIOR PROM vehicle. A mockup perhaps?

Shadowhawk...I believe that that program was cancelled in the early 80's...according to Wiki....and comparing it with the F-117's you can at Palmdale it looks a lot bigger.....what about the Senior Peg mock up/prototype...That was supposed to use faceting and from this pic:




It looks similar to what we can see of the object buried in the desert...???

I've been past there once in the late 80's whilst on detachment to Nellis AFB....On a Green Flag and we had a few days off so we hired a car and went to L.A and had a look around!!!

Its amazing what you can see on Google earth...even by just swapping the camera rotation you get different pictures coming up..i.e in one oic looking north you might have an A/C...switch or rotate the veiw to south and the A/C has gone !!!

Anyway....back to getting out of this clingfilm....

Good call. I also thought they were some kind of trolley but mowers are exactly what they appear to be.

Just goes to show that you see what you want to see...my pics are probably just old BBQ's or somebodys old tin boat...!!
