I believe it gives the member the ability to remove a flag they had given to the thread if they so chose.

But all threads start with zero flags. You can't click unflag when there are zero flags, and to have -1 flags means that when there were zero flags somehow someone was able to click unflag resulting in negative 1.

I believe i somehow caused that , i unflagged when i thought my browser stuck , and did two times more
when the page refreshed it said -2 flags.
