It is just one thing after another after another after another after another!

If something is going on with our sun then guess what????

Aint a damn thing you or I or anyone else can do about it anyway.
Bend over, grab your ankles, and kiss your ass goodbye.

I honestly coudn't care less if the F ing sun blows up tomorrow.
I am living TODAY!!!!

Eat, drink, and be Merry.

and F the sun.

Perhaps you may view it as fear porn, this post is only here to discuss the suns unusual activity. Nowhere in this thread did anyone say the world will be ending, the sun is gonna explode, etc.

So what are your actual thoughts on this?

The lack of sun spots only means that the sun is unusually stable. Why they would say warn is a mystery maybe it just means that we lack the knowledge to accurately forecast how the sun will act. As far as I am concerned that is a no duh type of statement.

Consider that we spend more money in one month on maintaining our presence in Afghanistan than what we have spent on NASA since its inception and you realize how amazing it is that we know as much as we do about such things on such a shoe string budget.

Our country does not value knowledge like it should hell the world doesn’t either but it really is shameful the values that we have developed as far as what we give importance to.

Teacher's get paid crap considering the service they render and football players and talking heads like Hannity or O'Reilly get rich if you don’t see the problem with that then the education system has failed you as well.

That would also explain why some will find such news as alarming they simply do not know any better.Their experience or knowledge on such news is based off of crappy sci-fi movies for the most part so of course they initially panic.

Explanation: S&F!

Could this be the lead up to a extreme solar event?

I was thinking of a nova but wiki set me straight that is not classically possible for our type of sun!

Personal Disclosure: This makes me nervous!

I'm getting nervous watching you get nervous.

I'm getting even more nervous that Pope Phage has yet to derail this thread with his holy library of logical explanations.

is this the calm before the storm? Will 2013 bring massive solar flares that could knock out our power grid?

I never indicated that anyone said that the "world would be ending" or the "sun would explode"
What I said was "Fear Porn".

People pontificating and speculating on scenarios that COULD yet NEVER DO play out which creates FEAR in the minds of the weak.

My thoughts are:

It doesn't matter. It REALLY doesn't matter.
Either way, you are alive NOW.
If the sun knocks out the power grid then so be it.
There isn't a damn thing you or I can do about that.
The only thing we CAN do is live a good life NOW!

Tomorrw you may die.
Let that sink in.

then, move on.

Well, isn't that the whole point of a discussion board? You know, to discuss possible events, or non events? I see your point though, but I still wish to discuss these types of subjects because it's fun.

If I tried going fishing with the power out at my place, my girl would have castrated me before I made it to the lake.

I have the answer. Now to find a good programer.

First we need to find the origional directions for operating the sun then get a new program and apply it to the computer that contains the old program.

Oh my I almost forgot, we can not control the sun,
We can make scary pictures to use as a tool for perdicting the suns actions.

There is no scamatic for the sun.
We can speculate concerning what it may do at any certain time but that is all.

Yes, I am being a bit scarastic but I do not worry about something I can not change.

Look on the bright side and keep waking up with the sun as it shines again tomorrow, well hopefully shines tomorrow.

Perhaps it's time to establish an ATS cyber prayer circle to stave off the evil doom Gods.
I know one thing...
I'm going to walmart tomorrow to buy a few rolls of aluminum foil to wrap myself and my pets in so this "unexpected something" doesn't affect us. Also some duct tape and some tequila to help with the prayer circle/ ritual. Better safe than sorry I always say!

The Sun has been shining EVERY day since befoire earth was born.....(does that mean there were no days?)
Anyways i mean that after four billion years its not going out soon...
The idea that the sun absolutely must have a 12 ear schedule is laughable given the time frame we have kept track....
I hate to play Phage here, but there is no real conclusive data yet to base our projected expetations...
It could go to sleep for a century and wed never be the wiser that its gota 5 thousand year sleepy times till it happened
So yes its very interesting...but it isnt yet too alarming.....

I hope not I say this because of a feeling I have had since a child. I have always had a fear that man does not understand our sun as well as we think. I have always feared that something catastrophic will happen to it in my lifetime. This has nothing to do with logic its a feeling.

I too have felt this way...the sun is so large, resplendent, minacious, and unapproachable, that I can only imagine a spontaneous occurence of great magnitude to be in the cards...yeah just a feeling....because how much do we really know...or want to?

Not for me, it's fun and intriguing to discuss and speculate...that is why I come here!

If only the sun would unleash it's fury would I be finally justified in my spouse's eye in the preparations I have taken.
What is really funny,is out of the blue ,my 11 year old son came up to me and told me he made a Faraday cage for his cell phone.

I asked him where did he learn that, and he told me in science class.
I just about fell out of my chair.

Little something to keep an eye on things.
