SEOUL, March 8 (Yonhap) -- A North Korean general said Thursday that the country has placed long-range missiles armed with nuclear warheads on standby, as Pyongyang said it will not bow to the United Nations resolution condemning its latest atomic weapons test.

According to the Rodong Sinmun, an organ of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Colonel General Kang Pyo-yong said soldiers are already positioned to launch a war of reunification if the order is given by its leaders. The paper said the general made clear at a speech given at a rally in Pyongyang that intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and other rockets capable of attacking pre-set targets have been armed with various types of atomic warheads.

The rhetoric is getting really intense, I can't recall another time when it seems so serious. Granted they may be bluffing, the tension is clearly building and the chances of accidents happen are greater now. Interesting times...

The only way North Korea has a sizable nuclear arsenal if if China is supplying the warheads.

They don't have ICBMs capable of carrying a nuclear device.

Bluffing,

and wanting an immediate ass kicking by the looks of it.

It is a bit worrying actually.
Maybe it's because it's Kim Jong Un playing his new game this time, nobody knows his motivations.

What ICBMs do they have?
The Taepodong-2 has a maximum range of 4.5km;has ICBM ever been successfully tested? Has it been tested with the load of a nuclear warhead? Even with NK's recent tests, have they suddenly successfully reduced the size of the payload to be fitted on an ICBM?

I think these questions are what keeps much of the world in a "here we go again" status in regards to North Korea. Eventually though, they will achieve those capabilities (and beyond).

To the people saying they don't have the technology, I beg to differ. Don't believe American media when they said they're years away from perfecting the technology, they are actively trading directly with Iran and other capable nations who have built successful delivery systems in the past.

More like WW2.1, as North America would sodomize the wannabe communist posers.

Hopefully ill get to kill some North Koreans. Lets see how they bleed. We need to make sure their blood is red.

I'm willing to fight, I just hate having a commander and chief that hasn't mobilized us yet, freakin coward. I can't believe he lets North Korea threaten us like this.

You force China to deploy to North Korea, or send us in. Use an EMP as the opening strike, there goes their ICBMs.

Yeah, hmmm, intense. Little fat idiot wants to play and thinks he's going to throw nasty crap across the pond? If he starts shooting, the Chinese or Russians will take care of him long before the US has to, after all, China doesn't want to lose its biggest trading partner. It wouldn't surprise me either if Samsung had its own fleet of interceptor missiles, those guys have a ton of money and they certainly want to protect their interests as well.

Cheers - Dave

I think I'm going to brush up on my Fallout 3 this weekend. When the time comes to wander the atomic wasteland, I want to be prepared.

So if the worst/most insane happens and somehow NK deploys a nuke, what happens next? Any theories on sequence of events or estimates on casualties? Would it automatically escalate to global war?

You mean...

America would sodomize

Canada and Mexico are not into that, maybe the U.S is, but not Canada for sure.

So many answers.

So many "I know everything", so many "let's nuke 'em", so many "They will be destroyed"...and so many "We will destroy them in seconds".

And yet...

Has anyone actually been there? Does anyone actually know their capabilities apart from what they've read in the MSM? Does anyone really know anything but hearsay and a few snippets from war monger blogs?

Too many people playing video games and because they win, they know all.

Does anyone actually believe that China will allow NK to be destroyed and occupied by the US right on China's border? And then what? "China is weak and cannot stand to a US invasion, occupation or...if we want to, we can stand right on the Chinese border."

Really?

Peace

I really hope that Socialism in North Korea completely collapses within my lifetime, hopefully sooner than later. I can't wait for the North Koreans to be able to wake up to the rest of the world and become free to travel, have freedom of the press, freedom of expression, etc. etc. It will be such a culture shock to them. Wait till they get a load of the internet.

Kim Jong Un isn't stupid enough to blow anything or anyone up. It would be suicide, unless China fully backs their actions and is prepared to fight. I'm sure this is just a way of extorting more food and financial aid. Whenever they experience food shortages, they seem to ruffle their feathers and threaten the world with annihilation. That's what his father used to do.

..........

Please, elaborate. What exactly do you think China and North Korea has that we don't, 10 fold?

Electronic Warfare? Sound Wave technology? Rail guns? Awesome super bad dooper ship killing missiles? Magnetic technology? UV targeting? Star Wars?

Really?

Exactly.
Just a simple EMP would put the U.S to it' knees.

Certitude .. so funny.
To many Hollywood movies probably.

Anyway, war isn't funny for anyone, certainly not when we're talking nuclear war.
