Well, now its officially bad for us : Processed meats. As if we didnt already know.
Now, dont ban all the Brits since this is coming out of the BBC.

www.bbc.co.uk...

Sausages, ham, bacon and other processed meats appear to increase the risk of dying young, a study of half a million people across Europe suggests.

Just in case, homemade bacon

Heck so does walking down the street breathing in the toxic car fumes.
The taste of bacon outweighs the risk.
Hhmmmm bacon

I smoke 2 packs a day, 2 pots of coffee a day, and lots of whiskey.

I don't think the bacon is going to be what does me in.

Oh well, so I'll be checking out of this madhouse a few years early.

As Dennis Leary used to joke, when people said that smoking would take years off his life, that the years off would be the ones at the end: The Alzheimer's, diaper-wearing, sitting-in-a-wheelchair-wondering-where-your-dentures-went years. I won't be greiving if I miss that end-of-life experience.

I find it extremely funny that their "warnings" go along with Agenda 21: That eating meat is unsustainable, and should only be for holidays and special occasions. They don't worry about the fact that the veggies and fruits are now mostly GMO frankenfoods, and that most people have trouble with a carbohydrate-heavy diet.

Ashton Kutcher ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis after preparing to play Steve Jobs in a movie. He followed Job's fruit-only diet.....and Jobs died of pancreatic cancer. www.nydailynews.com...

I eat a protein based diet, and bacon is on the menu from time to time. So is sausage. There are so many other things in the environment that will give me cancer that I refuse to worry about proclamations from the media. I can remember when they said that chocolate, coffee and eggs were dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. Now, suddenly, they're super-foods.

So much for the news. Time to get to the grocery store, I'm out of bacon.

Sadly, most people are extremely superficial when it comes to taste.

People simply do not care what is 'good' or 'bad' for them...so long as it tastes good!!

People operate under the logic 'well, it hasn't killed me yet, so why not keep doing it? besides, it tastes good!'

Pretty silly, really, imo.

I'm all down for just about anything in moderation. For example, Coke and soda in general is horrible for you. I stay away from it as much as I can. I drink (more than) the recommended amount of water every day. But, sometimes...I just have to have a Coke. (Probably not even once a month.)
Of course a piece of bacon here or there is okay for you. Same with alcohol, tobacco, heroine (joking) and most anything else. But...people don't care.

They'll eat what they want when they want. They'll claim socialism if you try to educate them otherwise. You're not a man if you don't drink and eat steak and bathe in bacon.
But, 40 years down the line when they 'randomly' get cancer they'll start complaining about the cost and insurance and blah blah blah.

Healthcare starts when you start to care for your health.

Cheers!

LOL! I thought you guys would get a kick out of this.
There actually ARE healthier bacons.. mainly at butcher shops and home made. Im going to try my own bacon homemade. I didnt eat bacon for years.. but recently I ate some and Im telling you, the stuff IS addictive. I was slobbering even before it was done cooking. Im already old, so Ill eat more healthy forms of the yummy death meat!

99% of people who get cancer are NOT on a fruit only diet and regularly consume meat.

Your point?

It's fine if you don't care about your health. But don't try to mock ones ability to be aware of nutrition and diet and the benefits of a vegetarian diet.

Personally, i've been vegetarian for 2 years. I grew up LOVING steak (as rare as it can be!) and I even grew up hunting and eating what I shot. But with that said...I started doing more research.

Yes, different diets work for different people and different body types. Some people need meat to balance the lack of iron in their blood. For others, the process of digesting meat is actually harder on their body than it is good for the body.
I too have a VERY high protein diet, but, again, I am vegetarian. I work out 3 - 5 times a week and have put on 15 pounds (of needed muscle) in the past three months from following a good routine and good diet.

I drink Brown Rice Protein shakes with peanut butter and/or almond butter. Nuts. Beans. Quinoa. Tempeh. Dairy. Yogurt. Maca powder. And more.

It's very easy to have a protein packed diet and not resort to processed meats and other $#!tty foods.
But again, you are free to do whatever you want.
I wish you prosperity and health.

Cheers!

Hey all,

Don't fret; it's the cured stuff that kills you. You can have it, just get the uncured stuff; even Farmer John's does uncured bacon now. It's rich in fatty acids (omega-6, omega-3) that are really good for us, just don't eat a pound in one sitting like I do.

Everyone knows you're a shill Advantage!

This is just further proof of that.

God made Sodium Nitrate (Bacon, beer) because he loves us and wants us to be happy.

If ya don't blieve that, then you don't believe in God.
Which is a futile argument, because bacon and beer are obviously real!
It's like geometry.

Ancient Aliens had a full episode on bacon, but they banned it because they didn't to ruin their image by sharing too many real facts.

Now of course, where is the link between Bacon & Boobs? (The life givers, and main competitor of bacon)

To which I bring you the occult etymology:
You cannot spell Obstetrician without Bacon.

obstetrician (OB)
[ob′stətrish′ən]
a physician who specializes in the branch of medicine concerned with pregnancy and childbirth.

I have carried a gun for almost a half of a century, I drink segrams rather than pop pharmaceuticals, I drink more coffee every day than most small French towns, and I smoke more than Dennis leary.
If all of these things I have survived, bacon is gonna be a fine death imho.
When I was a kid my uncle (a die hard seventh day adventist), and I were hunting in the forest and we came within a couple of miles of someones camp and could smell the bacon in the crisp mountain air.
I mentioned to him that I always loved that smell and asked him if it bothered him that he'd never be able to taste that wonderful meat again.
He said sure, but it was his religion and he'd do fine.
How sad for him I thought to myself, I'd just have to go to hell if he was right!

I'm a chef in a brew pub, and we just started a new menu included pork belly. It is expensive, but very good. We slice it almost as bacon, but thicker, and of course it isn't processed at all, so it's pure delicious! Not to mention the sauce and egg noodles we serve it over. Not hard to make at all. Just be sure you knife is sharp and you know how to work it, it can be tough to slice if it isn't seared good on the outside.

Great to see there are still some members with a sense of humour. Besides life is about balance, a hand full of bacon and a hand full of booby, its the American dream

I'm sorry, what is YOUR point? That you are superior because you are a vegetarian? Please don't come off as condescending and assume that I don't care about my health. You know what they say about assuming...that it makes an ass out of you and me. In this particular instance, just you.

I actually care a great deal about my health, and have done a lot of studying on the matter. Because I am borderline diabetic, and am trying to avoid it, I tried two different diets: The vegetarian diet, which was an abysmal failure for me and caused too much fluctuation in my blood sugar, and the protein and vegetable diet, which has worked like a charm.

The first part of my post was joking on the matter, as the OP was also joking about the subject. Unwad your undies and see it for what it is.

Vegetarians actually have a much greater risk of colo-rectal cancers. In the end, I believe, genetics play a heavy role in our eventual demise, if we're not done in by accidents or murders. www.medicalnewstoday.com...

I'll look after my own health, thank you, and you would do well to step down off your high horse.

You want to get bacon that doesn't have a list of ingredients. It's just that simple. It should say, "Pork, salt, water."

nom.

Relax friends, this is only bacon based propaganda put out by the petulant powers in their permanent plot to perturb the passions of the populace!

Yup, mess with bacon and I will go all V on ya.

They have demonized sex, alcohol, music, literacy, science, medicine... everything that makes life better or fun. Listen to my words, as we will NEVER let them win this battle. Bacon will not be slighted by the few who wish to exercise their dominion upon the masses. We will revel in our bacon based freedoms. We will never surrender our greasy, tasty, pork based pleasures to the bureaucratic demons who seek to hold us back.

BACON!
