I think similar ..

Probably soon in next days we will have stronger activity and EQ of M 7.2+ somewhere worldwide, also more activity on west coast ..

Last one of M 7.2 + was on 2013-02-06 Santa Cruz ..

Off shore EQ on Santa Barbara Channel 2.8 with 0 depth, What is that? Landslide?

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in "Santa Barbara Channel, California" (Longitude: -119.488°, Latitude: 34.281°, Depth: 0 meters) on April 3, 2013, 2:59:49 AM UTC.

USGS

This was written in 2009 about dangerous EQs on the Santa Barbara Channel.

Potential earthquake faults offshore Southern California, from the eastern Santa Barbara Channel south to Dana Point

The eastern Santa Barbara Basin is deformed by large active reverse and thrust faults, and this area appears to be underlain regionally by the north-dipping Channel Islands thrust fault. These faults could produce moderate to strong earthquakes and destructive tsunamis. On the Malibu coast, earthquakes along offshore faults could have left-lateral-oblique focal mechanisms, and the Santa Monica Mountains thrust fault, which underlies the oblique faults, could give rise to large (M ~7) earthquakes.

Offshore faults near Santa Monica Bay and the San Pedro shelf are likely to produce both strike-slip and thrust earthquakes along northwest-striking faults. In all areas, transverse structures, such as lateral ramps and tear faults, which crosscut the main faults, could segment earthquake rupture zones.

Progress Stalls in California on Earthquake Warnings
March 20, 2013

Sad to see this, so much money governments spends for really unnecessary things and this early warning can give you there in California very much help mentally & physically also preventing panic fear etc ..

PASADENA, Calif. — Scientists at the Caltech Seismology Laboratory were at their computers last week when a warning popped up on the screen: “Earthquake, earthquake!” The initial magnitude of the quake, 100 miles away, was 5.2, the alert said, and a countdown clock warned that mild shaking would reach here in 40 seconds.

Ms. Hutton was enjoying, as it were, the benefits of an ambitious if unfinished earthquake alert system for California, intended to one day give as much as 60 seconds’ warning of an approaching quake — to hospitals, emergency response workers and anyone near a cellphone or computer — in an attempt to reduce the casualties and the damage that officials have long feared were as inevitable as another huge California earthquake.

Last month, state lawmakers introduced legislation calling for an expedited program to raise the $80 million needed to complete the program, but acknowledged they did not know where the money might come from.

The delay here is, in one sense, testimony to human nature. It has been 19 years since the last significant quake rolled through California — the magnitude 6.7 earthquake in Northridge in a corner of the San Fernando Valley in 1994 — and memories of its damage and psychological trauma (some people moved away) have softened with the passage of time.

“I don’t think it’s a huge amount of money, particularly when compared to the billions of dollars in damage that we associate with every major earthquake,” Mr. Padilla said, adding, “I really don’t think any state official wants to answer the question ‘Why didn’t we?’ after the Big One hits and we haven’t deployed the system.”

“I think you get mentally ready,” she said. “We think it will reduce panic.”

Think stronger EQ of M 6.2+ (possible foreshock) here in area around Eureka also can lead to "Big One" but not hrs-days after like was posted in OP here I guess will need more time, similar situation too for Cascadia area ..

We already have above Cascadia area two very strong EQ on Queen Charlotte Fault, 5-1-2013 - M 7.7 and 28-10.2012 - M 7.7 ..

Also probably we will have around Eureka stronger EQ of last one M 5.1 ..

Also dangerous location from Japan - China - Turkey - Italy to have very strong EQ's with many casualties ..

Next days to end of April (next 35 days) and days from 16 to 23 June, also we will have super full moon for this year on 23 June ..

Full moon - 2013 Jun 23 11:34

I expect at sensitive area very strong EQ of M 8.0 + from 16 to 23 June, for next 35 days we have several very dangerous days so I will post danger for all 35 days and we probably will have very strong seizmic activity worldwide and probably EQ of M 7.5 + ..

Preparing for next "Big One" ..

Oregon Sea Grant

With new research predicting a significant chance of a massive, tsunami-generating earthquake off the Oregon coast in the next 50 years, Pat Corcoran finds his services in more urgent demand than ever.

He says lives can be saved if coastal residents and visitors are aware of just three things:

* what to do when you feel an earthquake on the coast
* where the high ground is wherever you are, and how to get there
* how to reconnect with loved ones once the event is over

Until recently, scientists thought the undersea faults off Oregon were subject to rupture every 500 years or so. But recent research by Chris Goldfinger of the Oregon State University marine geology and geophysics program suggests the cycle is more like every 240 years at the southern end of the fault. Given that the last tsunami-generating quake to hit the Oregon coast occurred in 1700, we’re overdue. Goldfinger predicts that there is a 37 percent chance of a tsunami-generating quake within the next 50 years.

Megathrust earthquakes occur in subduction zones—like the one just off the Oregon coast—at the boundaries where one tectonic plate is forced under another. Such quakes are among the world’s strongest, with magnitudes measuring up to magnitude 9.

One more thing make me very intrusting about Joe vision ..

Earthquake vision Los Angeles of Joe Brandt's (1937), "The Big One"

That's earthquake and possible foreshock abound 03:55 local time, because for this area I'm pretty sure that before the Big One very probably we will have foreshock somewhere in that area ..

When or how strong that's hard one, but my guess there will be foreshock of M 6.2 + ..

Here is more info about history of great eartquekes in SoCal so you can better understand situation and possibility for strong earthquake and danger for next Big One ..

Around San Francisco, the fault hasn't budged since 1906. North of Los Angeles, a long stretch of the fault has been stuck since 1857. Near Palm Springs, there's been no action on the fault since about 1680.

Earthquake Ruptures along the San Andreas Fault in Southern California since 1100 AD, animation

Shows a possible history of southern San Andreas fault ruptures from a study by Sieh, Stuiver, and Brillinger, 1989. They deduced the rupture history from the interpretion of disruptions of sedimentary beds in cross-fault trenches and from data collected after historic earthquakes.

They show ruptures during major earthquakes in 1100, 1346, 1480, 1680, 1812, and 1857 AD. Especially impressive are two huge events, in 1100 and 1480, that appear to have ruptured the fault from the Salton Sea to central California, more than 300 miles. Note that within the dating uncertainties, some of the long ruptures could have actually been two or more shorter ones that occurred closely in time.

emvc.geol.ucsb.edu...

emvc.geol.ucsb.edu...

"1100 and 1480, that appear to have ruptured the fault from the Salton Sea to central California, more than 300 miles."

So that's stronger from EQ of M 7.7-7.8 from 1680 also from San Francisco EQ of M 7.8 ..

China Resettles Nearly 730,000 Affected by Earthquake

Beijing, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Chinese authorities reported today that 729,341 residents of Sichuan that were affected by the 7 degree earthquake were resettled, while a greater number of people will receive subsidies to ease their situation.
According to reports from that Southwest province of China, more than 780,000 people will receive aid of 10 yuan daily ($1.62 USD) and half a kilogram of cereals for a six month period.

The governmental program by Ya'an city, where Lushan and other towns affected by the April 20th earthquake are located, will also aid people that lost their homes and residents without stable incomes.

According to the report, shelters have already been equipped with television sets and radios and school activities have been almost completely restored.

The earthquake caused 196 fatalities, with 21 missing, more than 13,000 injured, and more than 1,500,000 people affected, with economic losses still unrecorded.

Russia Delivers 57 Tons of Aid to Quake-Ravaged China
The Moscow Times

Some 57 tons of essential goods were delivered, including blankets, canned food and electricity generators.

Russia earlier delivered more than 13 tons of humanitarian aid by plane to Sichuan on April 28, the ministry said.

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Lushan county in southwest China's Sichuan province on April 20, killing about 200 people and injuring more than 12,000. An estimated 100,000 people have been left homeless.
