Most curious exchange reported in Debka.
Seems Powell and Syrians had very friendly talks -
but then on the tarmac
while walking out to the plane for departure
a member of Powell's party turns to a Syrian official
and hands him a document.
The guy turns white.
"Why this now?"
Answer:
"You have five days -
from when our wheels leave the ground."
No ultimatum of what would happen in five days -
but a list of demands that had
the Syrian shaking in his shoes.
