North Korea Threatens to Attack U.S. With ‘Lighter and Smaller Nukes’

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea said on Tuesday that it would cut off a hot line with the United States military in South Korea, calling the truce that stopped the Korean War in 1953 null and void and threatening to strike the United States with “lighter and smaller nukes."

No more DMZ is a pretty big call, as is sanctioning the North's money laundering and diplomatic mandates. Has the opening gambit in the destruction of the Koreas now been played or is this just more rhetoric?

They've been testing smaller nukes and longer range missiles (satellites like they put into space few months back)

They'll have ICBMs by the end of the decade for sure, and LOTS of them.

NK is China's mouthpiece and USA has never looked so weak. Only if Bush had more time...

the only way to ever truly gain control of north korea is to destroy the populaces belief in the kim families divine right to rule and that can only really happen internally (likely through some kind of civil conflict.... and what better way to do that than to assist in a coup by a power hungry general or the like)

and china and the united states share a common interest in that they would both like north korea to be more malleable for a variety of reasons

Its not actually a divine law that the USA must get deeply involved in the politics of every other country in the world.
Most countries in the world actually do fine without sticking their nose into everyone elses business.

What I'm really afraid of is what's happening and going to happen to his people if he won't stop these threats, cause war is just going to make innocents suffer.

It is the US that has nukes that are near to NK not the other way around.

What's wrong with using some threatening languages if the message can get across ?

That would not happen. Even without the US the Army of the Republic of Korea is fully capable of destroying DPRK. They have one of the biggest armies and navies in the world and with much superior technology than the North.

According to Yonhap it's because the North have started submarine drills. Also the North is scheduling nationwide military exercises next week.
