its all about the pain!
....And probably religious arguments are those with more threads than anything else here.
I've learned that if I don't get anywhere with a person after one or two replies, it is pointless. Especially when it comes to religion. So if I
start a topic or add to one I will add my two cents, and then maybe reply once or perhaps twice more to the person and then let them get in the last
word (there is no other reason a thread needs to go on for 150 pages).
When I was a teenager I would go door-to-door and had such a zeal, and being inexperienced I would argue hours with Trinitarians, and Atheists about
evolution usually. But I'm not a teenager anymore, I don't have the time, and I have come to realize that it is really a waste of time. They never
come up with any arguments I haven't heard since I was ten or eleven. And they never listen or defend any of the arguments I raise with them, since I
was thirteen or so... So you just learn it's a waste of time. If a person isn't going to reason with something simple, they will not come around to
listen with something complex.
Actually, that attitude has helped me win more people over than stubborn hardheadedness.
