I know, I found it ironic how you came here and made claims about the system you were in and then claimed it's the same in Venezuela and all over the world. I'm from Eastern Europe.

At that time (until 1990) mobile communication and internet were not even available, we had land lines and i guess you wanted to hear a scary story - people's phone was often tapped

However, we didn't talk much on the phone anyway because working hours were adjusted to family life. So people finished work at 15:30 went home, ate lunch and spent free time with neighbors and friends.

Originally posted by ElectricUniverseAs for the "free medical and education"... I know EXACTLY what it is under a socialist system... Firts the brainwashing that "capitalism is evil and must be avoided", Second you get the WORSE medical attention anywhere on the planet, unless you are a brat from one of the socialist/communist elites in the socialist/communist system where you lived.

This is exactly what i was trying to explain, you know how it was in Cuba but you certainly don't know how it went in my country. We had high standard medical care and just like in Libya, if people needed specialist care in the west they would go to usa, germany etc. all expenses payed by the government.

Castro is not the same as Ceaușescu and Chavez is not the same as Castro. Russia is not the same as North Korea and China is currently one fake communist republic
They just play together because they are all underdogs.

You should start a new thread about Russia, as i've said they didn't like us or our outside the box socialism after WW2, i have some interesting info to share.

Nope. I never did have any intention to do so, nor have I said at any point that I did. I was pretty clear about that, I think. If I want to watch videos, that's what my TV is for.
Nope. As I said you display blind hatred fuelled by abject ignorance.

Chavez supporters were shooting at police? Well isn't that special! Seems to be a definite conflict of interest there, then.
This is why I was reluctant to answer your baiting. Your ignorance on this is the only thing you have shown in this thread.

The snipers and police were part of the USA backed rebels that tried to remove Chavez. The fact that you do not even know this basic knowledge on this subject means you actually have nothing of value to say. Just as I told you two posts ago

The rest of your post will likely be of the same standard.

Yep scanned through it. I was right. Absolute trash. Go spew your hatreds to someone who is interested.

You amuse me. Hatred, perhaps - although I really don't think so - but definitely not blind. I generally reserve hatred for those important enough to warrant it, and Chavez is not one of them.

Well perhaps you could be clearer about educating me then.

The snipers and police were part of the USA backed rebels that tried to remove Chavez.

That must've sucked for Chavez - if you can't trust your own snipers and police as the leader of a nation, then who CAN you trust? That DOES speak an awful lot as to his leadership ability, however. It's time to close up shop and head for the coast when your own enforcers want you dead.

The fact that you do not even know this basic knowledge on this subject means you actually have nothing of value to say. Just as I told you two posts ago

I may have nothing of value that you want to HEAR, but I have plenty of valuable stuff to SAY! Not my problem if you can't handle it and want to go the ear-plugged "lalala I can't HEAR you!" route.

The rest of your post will likely be of the same standard.

Great answer.
It sort of confirms my assessment above. If you can't answer it, or handle hearing it, just call it "trash" or "hatred" (or both!
) and move on.

I feel threads like this really makes ATS lose some credibility. Pretty sure the people that are pro-Chavez have never been to Venezuela. Can't say I have either but I live around Venezuelans that moved because of Chavez. I read someone here saying that Castro was a good leader who stood up against America for his people. Let me tell you, I've BEEN to Cuba. There's NO WAY Castro is about his people.

Yah, it's pretty tough for the West to pile on Chavez as a dictator when their own BFFs are places like China and Saudi Arabia. But the (right) wingnuts will be here to do just that pretty soon. Meanwhile, Hugo, RIP.

replace "right", with centrists- I am a true right winger, and for me the nation state is paramount

9 million my hoop, those pictures show no such thing.

I hate these mass outpourings of "grief" for people not known personally to us, very cultish and creepish, happened on a smaller scale in the UK with Diana

Venezuela only had any sort of success due to its hug oil reserves, reserves it sold to people generally not practicsing Socialism- stop pretending the man was some sort of supreme hero, he did GOOD TRADE AND BUSINESS WITH THE USA!

Venezuela did even better when Chavez told America they had to pay the full market price.

Perhaps you could convince the millions that have turned out to pay their respects to their leader that he was not a hero

Yeah, that is my point, Chavez only thrived on high oil prices doing business with non socialists!

How about I speak for me yeah, millions turned out for Stalin, that is no indicator of anything- these mass outpourings of "grief" are ridiculous, how about I tell you that, rather than a minority of people in Venezuela who I will never realistically meet.

You may have fallen under his spell, but stop asking me to travel to Venezuela and somehow speak to every single person who may be turning out for a dead leader- what crazy suggestion is that

And that shows Chavez is not a hero to his people how?

so you have taken an obvious figure of speech as me demanding you go to Venezuela. Your right that would be a crazy suggestion but alas it is yours.

well, when I start lionising the likes of Bush and Obama, come back to me on that point

And that shows Chavez is not a hero to his people how?

hero to some, not all, obviously throwing money at certain people can have an effect

"figure of speech"- no, responding to your attempts to dismiss my point, mass turnouts for leaders creeps me out, regardless of where

You make my point. Your repeated mantra of he did business with non socialists is irrelevant

hero to some, not all, obviously throwing money at certain people can have an effect
Obviously he was a hero to millions.

He threw health care, education, affordable food, ownership of community land, better housing at them.

More importantly he gave them a future they never had before. A future denied them by the previous governments who only gave a future to a few elite.

"figure of speech"- no, responding to your attempts to dismiss my point, mass turnouts for leaders creeps me out, regardless of where
This is not the first time they turned out for Chavez. When the USA backed coup took place to remove him they turned out then as well. They demanded their democratically elected leader was returned.

Creeps you out or not it is what people do but then again you don’t have to look do you.
