This is nuttier than squirrel poop. Washington DC can't even pass a budget and it can't get anything done. How on earth do they seriously think that our government can give Chavez cancer?

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar ... and sometimes a man getting cancer is just a man getting cancer.

Venezuelan VP: "Chavez Was Infected with Cancer by Foes

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was infected with cancer by "imperialist" enemies, his No. 2 alleged on Tuesday, adding that the socialist leader was suffering his hardest moments since an operation three months ago.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro's accusations and somber prognosis came during a televised meeting of political and military leaders at the presidential palace amid speculation of an imminent end to Chavez's 14-year rule.

"We have no doubt that commander Chavez was attacked with this illness," Maduro said, repeating a charge first made by Chavez himself that the cancer was an attack by "imperialist" foes in the United States in league with domestic enemies

And as punishment to the USA, the Vice President of Venezuela has just expelled two US Diplomats from Venezuela

Story Here

After reiterating that President Hugo Chávez's health is looking grave, Venezuela’s vice president lashed out at the country’s “enemies” and expelled two U.S. diplomats whom he accused of spying on the country’s military.

At a press conference on Monday, Vice President Nicolás Maduro also pointed to the U.S. and other foreign countries of somehow poisoning Chávez with cancer.

Following a lengthy introduction of numerous officials in attendance, Maduro said U.S. military attaché David Delmonaco will be expelled from the country for conspiring against the government and the armed forces. Foreign Minister Elias Jaua also announced the expulsion of a second U.S. official, also a U.S. Air Force attache

Doing a quick search of ATS ... some old threads say that Chavez has claimed this before ... that the USA started infecting people with cancer down there. It's not new ... but the fact that they expelled diplomats because of this hooooey ... that raises it up a level.

There were some pretty far out methods the CIA used to try and assassinate Fidelity Castro.

• Skin-diving suit This plot was hatched at the time New York Attorney James Donovan was negotiating with Castro for the release of the Bay of Pigs prisoners. It called for Donovan to present Castro with a skin-diving suit dusted inside with a fungus that would produce a disabling and chronic skin disease and contaminating the breathing apparatus with the bacterium that causes tuberculosis. The skin-diving suit already had been bought but was abandoned when it was learned Donovan already had given Castro a skin-diving suit on his own initiative.

Or maybe

1. Femme fatale. Marita Lorenz, just one of many women Castro counted as a mistress, allegedly accepted a deal from the CIA in which she would feed him capsules filled with poison. She managed to get as far as smuggling the pills into his bedroom in her jar of cold cream, but the pills dissolved in the cream and she doubted her ability to force-feed Castro face lotion, and she also just chickened out. According to Lorenz, Castro somehow figured out her plan and offered her his gun. “I can’t do it, Fidel,” she told him. Read the full text here: mentalfloss.com... --brought to you by mental_floss!

Still giving Chavez cancer does seem a bit of stretch.

I went to Venezuela back in 1994. The people were very nice and helpful. It was a beautiful country. The government, at that time, was more friendly to American visitors. Now, I'm not so sure. A lot of people travel to Betania from the USA. I see that the tours are still available. Hopefully what is going on won't effect the tours.

This is nuttier than squirrel poop.

So do we know for certain this is all nonsense, or is it so just because you say it is?

Are such capabilities completely impossible?

Do you have expert medical or intelligence knowledge that we are not privy too?

As one poster has already mentioned the United States has gone to great lengths over the decades to try and assassinate Fidel Castro with all kinds of zany schemes. All failing thankfully.

I'm not saying such allegations are true, but I would not put it past them attempting to assassinate Chavez.

It's bizzare, IMHO. People think the CIA and the White House can do a whole lot of things that they simply can't. I think people around the world are watching too many TV shows and Hollywood movies or something.

The TV news folks are having fun with this story. The Vice President of Venezuela has a high school diploma and no other education, and was a bus driver before being Vice President. Now he's saying that the White House gave Chavez cancer. This VP fella is looking pretty foolish ... like he isn't intelligent enough to run the country down there.

Go and have a look at past CIA operatives and you will see that it is well in remit of the CIA. The US has been at a politcal war for decades. Happy to overthrow left governments and dictators and to fund right wing groups...

What's that got to do with Chavez dying of cancer?

So now we're only a couple of posts in and you've resorted to insulting the intelligence of a political leader because of his background?

A former bus driver? As opposed to what? Yes perhaps if he was a former banker and filthy rich he would be more qualified.

If the White House wanted to kill off Chavez, they could have found much easier and more efficient ways of doing it then supposedly 'infecting' someone cancer. And how exactly the White House could do that is a mystery. Large groups of people? Sure. But a pin point target like that .... I'm thinking probably not.

The Russians can do it. So why are you in denial that your own government can. Alexander Litvinenko poisoned with polonium-210- died of acute radiation syndrome or something like that. Was only detected after his death.

Sure. No question. But to claim that the USA pinpointed a person to 'infect' with cancer?? That's odd. If the USA wanted Chavez dead, he'd be dead a lot quicker and in a lot more sure way than a cancer that takes a long time and could be cured. ya' know??

It really is not that hard to kill someone with cancer if you have access to the right chemicals.. No mystery what so ever.

Ingest chemical - get cancer - die...

A lot quicker in what way?

Yes but that's the point, if he was potentially infected with cancer it would take a long time I suppose, but then nobody would likely suspect such a thing.

The title of this thread is about what the Vice President said.
So the Vice President is part of the subject of the thread.

Did you bother to read what was posted? Those aren't my words. I said that is what the TV news people are saying. They are pulling him apart. Rather easily. Between his inexperience and his lack of education and his statement ... the TV news people are pulling him apart.

Try reading what is posted ...

On 1 November 2006, Litvinenko suddenly fell ill and was hospitalized. He died three weeks later, becoming the first confirmed victim of lethal polonium-210-induced acute radiation syndrome.[2] According to doctors, "Litvinenko's murder represents an ominous landmark: the beginning of an era of nuclear terrorism".[3][4][5]

We don't really know what our governments can get up too.

Nope. I never denied that they can. I said that if they wanted Chavez dead, there are much quicker and easier and more sure ways to do it. And I also don't think that this Obama administration has thought of Chavez as much of a threat. It hasn't come across that way at all. IMHO.

Now if this accusation had come out of North Korea ... I'd be inclined to believe it.
But Venezuela? I'm thinking not ...

The CIA is more than capable of such things. In fact it would be the more logical and cost effective way of getting rid of someone. I don't see it as far fetched at all.

So the Vice-President's intelligence and educational background is part of this thread? How so? Please tell us his life story then, where he was born, where he grew up etc if he is part of the subject of the thread...or would that just be completely irrelevant?

Yes or even more so Iran, but then everyone would likely be pointing the finger at Israel and Mossad.
