Which one is the bigger problem for our community/society?

It's clear the Bible preaches against both. However, homosexuals are only statistically around 10% of the population, whereas straights are 90% or virtually make up most all of society, throughout history.

As I observe children, bullies, conservatives, leaders, there seems to be a misplaced objection to homosexuality (which shouldn't be their problem since 90% of us are 'straight" whereas even the world itself :'fornication' has become an archaic or extinct term perhaps since it refers to any sex outside of... marriage.

What is contributing it, the 10% of society being possibly fornicating homosexuals, or the 90% of society possibly being fornicating straights?

Or, is everyone who is -- fornicating -- (apparently without protective-enought protection, if any) contributing to this huge explosion in STDs to the point 1 in 2 Americans contract an STD by 25?

Of course, the above scenarios consider fornication and/or homosexuality could be that contagious. Are they socially contagious? Is homosexuality on the rise? Or is fornication on the rise? Or both?

Or is it Christianity on the decline? (Last I checked still the vast majority of Americans identify as Christian, as opposed to "non-religion" or of another religion.)

Is this a trick question?

Or just one without the statistics to back up .. whatever it is?

I don't know if you're batting for A or pitching for B.

Anyone who puts their naughty bits in unclean places, man or women of any gender, and doesn't properly take care of their dangly soft parts, well.. gets probable cauliflowers.

Have you been watching old 1950's propaganda films about homosexuals? Young billy would never know that George was a homo sexual. They hide in plain sight, waiting to pounce. And don't think you wont get caught. If not by us, then by yourself. For the rest of your life!!!!!!111

Or is this some neo-anti-hetero thing?

I'm not hip to the groove, man.. I don't jibe with this bunny... it's too way out freaky mama..

I recall seeing a program on TBN about STDs that mentioned over 40 kinds.
Then the female pastor mentioned some shocking statistics of infections and added that these were just cases within the church!

Religion itself is no protector against STDs.
Many other countries have done better on gay HIV rates than the US.
The African American HIV rates in the US are approaching epidemic southern African proportions (I think 40 percent of infections for 14 percent of the US population).

The fundamentalist Christian "purity movement" has been shown to add long-term to teen pregnancies and STDs because it left kids completely uneducated, and after two years of following the nonsense most would generally rebel and try unprotected sex.
Sex of some kind is written into our very genes.
It's a necessity, just like food, and it can only be judged morally to a point.

Then, we have to be careful how we define STDS, because not all of them are only transmitted by penetrative sex.
Some forms of herpes or hepatitis (or HIV) can also be transmitted non-sexually, although such figures can be classed with STDs.

Despite stereotypes one does not need to "fornicate" to get HIV or other STDs.
You can be really in love and have a long-term monogamy (or even a marriage) with somebody, and they can give you HIV.

STDs have always been there.
With some like Syphilis, the origin is unknown or debated.
Common and non-lethal fungal infections like Candida can also be called STDs in some cases.
Most STDs are curable, and have long been a fact of life.
Keeping the military men healthy meant that medicine on STDs advanced rapidly.

Use a condom or stay in a committed relationship (where both partners have been tested for HIV).
That goes for all sexual orientations and genders.
Stigmatizing other people for their infection rate often causes carelessness and complacency, and a false sense of security.
Statistics can show broad trends, but many people also become infected with HIV outside "high risk" groups.

Now if only the Vatican or Protestant leaders gave clarity on condoms, even in HIV discordant marriages.
What?
Proven public health initiatives endorsed by religion?
Ha, ha, ha ... no let them rather play Russian roulette and hope that HIV won't change trends, or that a new virus won't emerge from medicating and mistreating animals or destroying the environment.
That's where it ultimately comes from.

What you claim is far from clear and the bible was not written in English. Check out what the word fornication means, it is not what you think. They also had many words for homosexual and they are not used the six verses usually quoted about homosexuals. Two things I like to point out, one Jesus never mentioned homosexuality at all and it didn't make the ten commandments. It did not make the top ten, maybe it wasn't that important.

Here's an interesting tidbit. Apparently, STDs are dramatically increasing among the senior citizen population. With Viagra, those old geezers are gettin' it on - and paying the price!

Dr. Steven Rabin, a gynecologist, said that eighty percent of people who are 50 years and older are sexually active. Rabin said that the age group is seeing a doubling and tripling of STDs such as syphilis and chlamydia.

Interesting user name for the topic.

It depends on what you consider an STD. For example: Genital Herpes wasn't considered an STD until 1979 when a pharma company, while researching an encephalitis drug, came up with a formula that suppressed outbreaks but found no market for it. They began a huge marketing campaign to create a stigma.

The funny part is herpes was so prevalent in the Roman Empire that Emperor Tiberius II had to put a ban on touching for a few months.

Dear Phage,

I don't know, I am 53. If the average lifespan for men is 75, then 1-25 is young, 26-50, is middle aged and I am officially old and within the 51-75 age range.

Your statistics pretty much speak for themselves. A 10% homosexual population should not be reaking havok on your heterosexual world. I think you know the answer. People who aren't careful, people that are promiscious and people that are naive and don't know any better ...pay the price. Put a wrapper on it or be selective. There are ugly people everywhere, there is no prejudice in that.reply to post by KamaSutra

So...don't be average.
I've made more trips around the Sun than you and I don't feel a whole lot different than I did 20 revs ago. Looks, on the other hand...
But I don't think about how old I'm not, not much anyway. I could be older, after all. But I'm not.

You remind me of a quote: "I'm in my 30's but yet I still feel like I'm 20...but then I'm around people in their 20's and I'm like ...yup I'm definitely 30."
I guess life is like wine ...if you let it .

Try more like 20% gay or BI. then you have another 20% that have tried it at least once.
because some people don’t come out, or they’re bisexual but only date the opposite sex and don’t identify as bi.

With STDs there is another factor that is use of illegal drugs and needles.
dirty needles are what spread HIV from the Gay to Straight community.

LOL. I look worse than my age, I look my miles and people in my family just don't live that long. I certainly am not afraid of dying, that would be like being afraid of breathing, it is just something we do. Our bodies wear out, we can choose to wear them out by mistreating them or we can attempt to preserve, the end is the same, we die. The first time I should I have died was at 4 when I accidentally poisoned. Every day is one more than I can expect. The vast majority of us will not live past 75, it is just math. Half or better wont even make it that far and that is a fact. It is only by understanding how temporary life is on this planet that we begin to understand how important what we do here is. Peace.

And He didn't address beastiality or pedophilia directly either, and so this line of thought goes no where.

Truth: the penis was created to pass urine or to go into the vagina in order to procreate.
Truth: the anus was created to pass excrement

All of us, even those who reject creation, know these truths. So a rise in deviancy from this truth must represent something. And that something is addressed repeatedly throughout scripture: rebellion to creation, reprobation and the worship of the created instead of the Creator. A society that worships the created exalts the penis and vagina, it becomes the focus of their artwork, esoteric writings etc. it builds monuments to the phallus, it exalts the sex act itself as the be and end all, it destroys the fruit produced from such unions because the sexual act is esteemed over its function, procreation to produce life. The command was to go out and multiply. Today, we want the sex and pleasure and kill His blessings - the fruit of the womb. As such, we no longer serve His will but our own pleasure.

Reprobation is wrath. It is all around us today and instead of repenting, we defiantly push into further perversion of created order. Reprobate minds not only view this perversion of created order as "normal", but become satisfied only when non-partakers state that what they do is "normal". Reprobate minds will stop at nothing less. But the simple fact is, they cannot get rid of the obvious two truths above without deception and lying - so they go around it by championing such ideas as "gay genes" and "homosexuals are born gay". The two truths above, however, prove them wrong and they know it. Our Creator told all of us that the truth of creation is right in front of us, and therefore it's our own lusts and desires which blind us to it. Reprobate minds will never state "I like it up the butt" because it does not serve their purpose which is to overthrow the created order. To this end, every esoteric religion exalts an androgynous ideal, neither make nor female, and exalts sex and sex acts as worship rituals.

Christianity today is incorporating the same beliefs, which just means that the tares have ripened. Words such as "God's sperma" abound in their apostate literature. The Catholic Church allows the lingum (phallus) in its services in the east. Promise keepers extoll men to honour their penises. This isn't of Our Creator but entirely indicative of the rise of the beast from the Abyss from those ancient lands and people's so admired by the Esoterics and occults. The return of pyramids is the return of that warped world that was destroyed and has been destroyed repeatedly. Man isn't progressing, he's going straight back to the days of Noah and Babel. As the light of Jesus Christ wains and as the Holy Spirit's presence is pushed away and exchanged for the spirit of disobedience, the darkness that it held off for so long just rises and floods right back in - consuming us.

So whilst you want to use the argument "Jesus Christ didn't mention it and the ten commandments don't forbid it", the truth of the matter is that scripture from start to end tells us what it signifies and what the consequences are should we defy His Created Order and Will. I take that as truth, but most today shrug their shoulders and flip their finger at Him. Tragically, they reject His peace and life and blessings for a world of coming darkness, one led by the lusts and desires of men which show zero mercy or forgiveness. The innocent, weak, helpless and righteous are their targets - euthanasia of the elderly, murder of the unborn, exaltation of beauty and the despising of those who aren't 'beautiful', the categorisation of the poor as mere thieves and useless eaters, the disabled and deformed as not worthy of life, and the exaltation of "intelligence" with it's corresponding disdain for those who aren't so "intelligent". This is evident today in our societies and it is the consequence of the path that many of us are on. Religion to Our Creator is this: taking care of the helpless and oppressed - what "orphans and widows" means. Darkness kills them.

You are quoting from the Gallup poll? That wasn't done with proper controls.
FOUR PERCENT of the population is gay or bisexual. Just four.
ABC News - 2011

An estimated 9 million Americans -- or nearly 4 percent of the total population -- say they identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, according to a new report released this week from the Williams Institute, a think-tank devoted to LGBT research at UCLA.

Bisexuals make up slightly more than half that group, 1.8 percent of the total U.S. population, and they are substantially more likely to be women than men.

No, but he did say the only two things you needed to do for eternal life was to love your God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself. That's it. So, you shouldn't hurt another. Bestiality and pedophilia involves taking advantage of an innocent animal or child, so that would qualify as hurting another. What two consenting adults do willingly does not hurt anyone.

Truth: the penis was created to pass urine or to go into the vagina in order to procreate.
Truth: the anus was created to pass excrement.

Truth: We were not meant to fly, because we don't have wings - and yet, we fly all over the world. Aren't we going against nature then? Is it a sin to fly in an airplane?

Truth: the blood in our veins was meant to stay there, yet people give their blood to help others who need it. Going against nature? Is it a sin to give up some of your blood to someone else?

We should be able to use our own body parts however we want, as long as we are consenting adults, and we are not hurting anyone against their will. The smart thing to do, is to practice safe sex, so that we do not spread diseases amongst ourselves.
