Love how people in this thread jump to conclusions, try to complicate the issue or say it is all political propaganda. If you think everything is fine and dandy your obviously disconnected from reality.

No one has said take somebodies money and give it to someone else, good lord what is wrong with some of you people? Whoever said it is because all these people are lazy and don't want to work, you are delusional, whoever said it is about socialism, Obama or some other lame political excuse, wake up.

When you have people making millions from companies making billions off of people who are barely above or in poverty something is obviously wrong, it is called wage inequality and it is a fact, there is no link, opinion or website out there that can change that.

The whole trickle down debacle has failed, it is a lie. Those who had the responsibility, yes it is a responsibility, to trickle down the wealth instead let greed be their guide and hoarded the wealth and are responsible for stagnating the economy.

There is no excuse for it, if you run a big successful business and you hire people then you take on a responsibility, you are responsible for these people.

No one with a job should be living in poverty PERIOD
No one with a job should be without basic medical insurance PERIOD
No one with a job should be without a retirement PERIOD

Responsibility < Greed

Greed is why people are struggling, Greed is why people have no jobs, Greed is why people with jobs have no insurance or retirement, Greed is why there is wage inequality and greed is why this country is failing.

If you disagree, you are part of the problem ...

What can be disputed is my opinion and my opinion is as private sector Unions are destroyed the wage equality gap widens and corporate profits climb and the middle class shrinks. The middle class, the back bone of this country, is who used to move the economy, as their jobs disappear and their pay decreases the money they used to pump into the economy is gone.

It is not complicated or hard to see what is happening, the real question is why it is being allowed to happen when it is apparently destroying the country.

noreaster...i worked in the computer networking business...i had friends in the business that were way ahead of me in the genius department. these friends told me horror stories about how their ideas were ripped off, and eve n stolen from them, because they did not have enough money to go to court to protect their work. they told me about contracts they had with corporations, big ones, that advertize worldwide, that simply didn't pay up on the legal contract for the work done, and told the person "go ahead, take us to court, we'll tie it up for years and years"
the wealthy elite cheat and steal to make their money, i've seen it, and my friends and associates has seen it, and gotton screwed over for the hard work and innovation they put into it.

I was in the process of writing a multi-page response to this describing the situation from my point of view. The decline of manufacturing here ...and why...the rise of cronyism and over regulation by the GOV...and just closed Word and let it go. Pointless.

Capitalism is not the enemy. Free markets are not the problem...it's the manipulation and perversion of it that is the problem.

We now import more than we export. Our major exports are energy based, weaponry and advanced weaponry, medical technology and pharmaceuticals...and food. How many out there can participate in these?

Sure, we still make a few simple things for local use...tools, bicycles, etc...but so does the rest of the world. We used to make "the best"...so there was a demand for "our stuff'...not so much anymore.

Just look at what "we" are most interesting in buying...electronics, games, apps and programs...entertainment. We are more interested in "being entertained" than we are about making useful products that the rest of the world really wants.

You want to see better jobs? Invent something that will make the rest of the world...including the wealthy...think they cannot possibly live another day without your product...this is how you re-direct wealth back to the USA and create good jobs. Creating service based companies and jobs means you are fighting amongst yourselves for the scraps that fall from the real manufacturers table and that will always yield diminishing returns...house cleaners and dog groomers are never going to create "good jobs".

I give up. Some folks "get it" and some do not.

If you want more money and a better life, figure out a way to get the wealthy and the rest of the world to want to give you their money...taking it will only temporarily address the problems but eventually all the money will be funneled back to the producers...

Hear hear.

How people can think that a more equitable distribution of resources is "communism", or (even crazier) that there is some kind of super wealthy elite intent on instituting 'socialism' on the unsuspecting masses who are, um, poorer than them, I just do not know.

Has the capitalist agenda advanced so far that people are willing to defend billionaires as the avant garde of populist struggle against authority? Extraordinary.

There _is_ something we can do about it - opt out.

Just don't play their game.

Don't borrow money.

Don't watch TV.

Don't chase that new promotion, new house, new clothes, at the expense of youor soul, your family.

Be good to each other.

Don't tolerate or reward the "business" attitude where people come second to profit.

Never, ever say - "It's just my job" as you sign the foreclosure document to kick the family out of the house.

It's that simple, I think.

I can't comprehend why any one person even needs that much money. Just looked up some random figures and according to salary.com the average CEO brings in 1.2 million a year. Now me and my wife together make 41,000 a year that means we have to work 29.27 years just to make what a CEO makes in one year!?!?

to quit because the world isnt your oyster is just cowardly.

Did Max quit when they killed his family?

edit on 5-3-2013 by Instructoralpha because: Mad Max rules

Ha, no he didn't. He got mad and killed everyone who had a hand in the horrible atrocities that were brought into his life. However that is another world.

The way i see it, a game is created and described by the rules that govern it's play. Without rules there is no game. When everyone agrees to the rules and the game is played fairly, then we applaud the winner by his virtue of playing the game well. When you find out later that he was cheating or had an unfair advantage, then you feel cheated and angry. I think that is what we are seeing now adays. People are feeling cheated because there are so many not playing by the rules. Also the rules are stacked in favor of those in the inner circle. Monopoly is no fun if two people are working against you, but it is not against the rules. When the bank works with another player to put you out of the game, then that is when the board gets flipped and the games gets reset inspite of the other players who dont understand the rules or think that the game is still fair.

I think that if you agree that the status quo is acceptable. And that the uber rich deserve and have worked hard for those billions then you are just one of those players who still believe the game is being played fair.

Another point is just because a business is playing by the rules or doing business within lawful parameters does not mean that those rules or laws are just or fair. Like another poster said earlier in this thread, to start a business you must pay for business licenses, insurance, workers comp, have special facilities inspections that are required for whatever. While i agree with oversite in manufacturing and foodservice. Without start-up money or an investor, it is overly complicated to stand on your own. The other option is you go to work for one of these large corporations for an ever dwindling salary, forever chasing a dream that gets farther and farther away.

Really my whole point is that more and more people are starting to believe that the game is rigged. We really do know there are people or even businesses that are given an unfair advantage. (Bailouts, corporate wellfair, govt contracts cronyism).these things have been proven to exist. But even those businesses that are "playing by the rules" (which have been changed legally to benefit certain corporate classes) and collecting massive profit are making those massive profits at the expense of everyone else instead of charging a few dollars less for their product or services. People are catching on and the only way the powerless can can empower themselves is by knocking the board off the table.

Eta: i do not condone violent revolution or violence of any kind.

And to say that in another way...

The cards are somewhat stacked...the table is somewhat tilted.

The best anyone can do is learn the rules and try to use them to their advantage just like the others do. Sure, the rules are susceptible to change without warning or consent. But you can't lay down, you can't give up. The moment you do, you lose.

There is need for redistribution of wealth.....no arguments there pal........
My idea would be to eliminate the ways the wealthy control things.
The Fed, The IMF, BIS, derivatives, the stock markets.....Family trusts......
The elite will turn out to actually own nothing,,,,,but they will have CONTROL of vast wealth.....
This is the secret.this is how they keep their wealth and pay no tax.

I think your on to something there.

And i do agree there needs to be a re distribution of not only wealth but certain aspects of society that should not be for profit. I would be willing to open conversation as to what those things should be.

Take two of the examples you want to eliminate, stock markets and derivatives.

How would you suggest funding companies so they can grow? And how would you suggest companies or individuals hedge their risk?

Also how would you go about abolishing these things? You would need, at the very least, a one-world dictatorship.

This video just makes me angry. I can't believe that this is allowed to continue in this country and even globally. Sadly the only way I think this can be rebalanced is if there is conflict. We will hit rock bottom and then there will be this massive confict within the US that occurs and shifts the balance of many factors.

I don't really want that to happen, but the more I read the news, the more real this potential conflict becomes. I know a lot of US Citizens will not stand idolly by.

S+F Op, great video how it shows us visually just how bad we are being screwed. What is interesting though is the fact the msm is releasing this. I just feel like there is an agenda at play, the same way I felt when they started releasing all the drone info a few weeks ago, it's as if they are inciting something in the general public.

Its actually pretty obvious there has already been a redistribution of wealth and control. The whole point of capitolism in a society or should i say the only way it works and balances itself is when those with money invest it back into the system. Back into manufacturing. Back into education. If they hoarde that money, or if they invest it in another country, or if they only invest it within themselves then you get the stark contrast of, not only haves to have nots but powerful and powerless we see today. The video by the OP shows this in a very plain way. Hence the game is tilted. The powerless only stay powerless when they are few in number. When they become the majority then well... The possibility of mob mentality is increased. As more and more people become desperate, they will have to rely on those close to them. When those they were relying on get desperate they will have go out and seek other ways to get by and more and more will resort to crime. With scarcity comes crime . with crime comes more violence. The conditions that the video portray (even if skewed by a bit) show that the dwindling middle class are being put into a dangerous position. Because the desperates are already preying on them. The secluded rich arent feeling this pain yet and arent seeing the canary in the coal mine.

Great video, nothing new for me here.

But I had a problem with one specific phrase the guy used in the video. He said, in regards to SOCIALISM
"we know (already) that socialism doesn't work, we in the US are all about each working towards our own success/wealth" etc.. (freely citing).

Sorry, this is wrong and I was kind of annoyed when he said that, especially since it was ironic to say this IN THIS PARTICULAR VIDEO where he obviously shows that "unregulated capitalism" doesn't work at all.

"Socialism" as such has not proven to "not work", what has proven to not work was COMMUNISM or the socialism as seen in countries such as former Eastern Germany, Soviet Union, Cuba etc. There is no doubt about this.

Saying that "socialism has shown not to work" is absurd if we CONSIDER that some of the most successful and "happiest" countries on this planet CAN BE CONSIDERED socialist, for example Nordic countries such as Sweden, Norway etc... I even had Americans already saying that Germany "is socialist". (Whatever they define as "socialist"). The problem only that countries such as Norway, Sweden, Germany although in some way "socialist" are extremely, extremely different from those "socialist" (communist) countries such as former Soviet Union etc. It's comparing Apples with Bananas.

I'm always amused by these pieces. Scorn the rich because they don't give enough to the poor. Everyone has the ability and resources to get to the upper curve but many chose to be pitied and continue to vote for more hand outs. Propaganda like this only feeds their inhibitions and continues to charge the class warfare.

Ants are not meant to serve grasshoppers. I've seen these ants do great things, and year after year, they somehow manage to pick enough food for themselves and you. So-so who's the weaker species? Ants don't serve grasshoppers! It's you who need us! We're a lot stronger than you say we are. And you know it, don't you?

The Ants pick the Food, The Ants eat the food...And the GRASSHOPPERS LEAVE...
