Great job Noreaster. I have been looking for this chart for a long time after first discovering it on the web. I think there are more benefits to a better wealth distribution, including a better understanding of the average American by those in leadership positions - that much of a wealth gap is going to cause a lot of tension and division between wealthy and poor cultures.

Scary vid I reckon the stats are more or less the same in the UK.
So what do we do about it?

Raise the minimum wage,

tax investments at higher rates (30-35%) if they aren't with companies that are creating jobs at home and lower taxes substantially (5-8%) for investments that create jobs,

bailout struggling homeowners whose house is worth less than they owe for it (which could have been done for much less than the banks got),

give tax subsidies to companies that pay their workers well above minimum wage and provide benefits,

reinstate Glass-Steagal and break up the big banks,

put an annual tax on wealth held over 100 million dollars and even more at 1 billion dollars if it's not being invested or used for any purchases that put money back in the economy.

You have to legislate against greed. I'd be fine with the church helping out with that one.

Every extravagance has a price. Every yacht is robbing a child somewhere of food. We don't need everyone being rich, but we can afford a baseline of food, medical care and shelter for people who work hard, which is most people. We could feed everyone. We choose not to.

I'm reading this and something hit me. How did the elite get to be the elite? By pooling their money and thier interests. Historically, the royalties did it in europe, the catholic elite did it (mostly by not allowing the priests to marry) the mormons did it (o.k. they sold out to the elites- romneys) the mafia did it, african immigrants to america do it (I work with a lot of them - great people - they help eachother out), the mexican illegal immigrants to america do it ( if you know their culture - you know they do)

The unions tried it in america, but the top sold out (most were involved in the italian mafia anyway).

Soooo - us working stiffs need to do it - battle the us gov't and regulations.

Butttt - the same thing always happens - human nature - someone gets greedy.

The same reason communisim looks good on paper, but never works out.

If we can really trust someone to pool our resources with, and make sure we buy homes and businesses, and help eachother out in a fair and trustful way - some of us could become our own "elite" pool.

Let's sum up the discussion

The socialist:
The wealthy have too much

The capitalist:
People are paid according to their work

The capitalist is correct (or at least much, much closer to correct). Yes there is a right answer. Socialism fails every time. (www.youtube.com...)

Socialists are either in denial of reality, or fundamentally deficient in recognizing it.

The communists are deluded by the fact that it works on paper. But then again, so does a perpetual motion machine.

Individual freedom to pursue ones own interest without major interference from a governmental body (capitalism) is the only way forward.

Now as for the 'wealth inequality gap' consider life a foot race, you have the top athletes and everyone else. The top athletes dedicate themselves to running day in and day out, the rest lose intetrest. Yes some talent helps, but there is more wasted talent than there is continued effort by ten fold. So while everyone else finds a happy place and doesn't push harder in a consistent manner, those who continually push hard (the big earners) make more money. I know it probably hurts your feelings, but it's the truth.

In 100% of cases (excluding the disabled) from my experience, POOR PEOPLE IN AMERICA HAVE POOR WAYS.

There is no royalty here (though our fed gov believes otherwise). Anyone in america can do anything. Whether you need an education for your dream job, or money to start-up your own company. It's all freely available IF you're willing to put in the effort.

I'm sick of you lazy whiners complaining about others being "greedy" but you're blind to the fact that your jealousy is only a thin mask over your greed.

Raise minimum wage? really? why do you hate unskilled workers and minorities so much?

Raise taxes? yes, because government is better with money?

It really proves one's credulity when they repeat this mantra as you have.

Plato, in reference to tyrants:
The same is he, who makes a party against the rich.
-Book VIII of plato's republic

EDIT:
"Every yacht is robbing a child somewhere of food. We don't need everyone being rich"
Nope, wealth is not a finite resource. Sorry, your inner marxist is showing. Get out of america, PLEASE. You sick fools are destroying this nation with your power hungry utopia that does nothing but enslave it's inhabitants further. Get a grip on reality.

I think... the government needs to keep it hands in some things.

But take them off other places. Obviously some regulation can be a good thing since our economy is so poor in large part due to de-regulation.

Whew... such a large gap in income, yet government is arguing over slight tax percentage shifts amongst the entire public, like that gap is lessoned any? Well, that slight shift in tax percentage is a strong indicator that money is being put before the people of this nation.

Going forward, I think eliminating federal income tax as a whole should be implemented. Maybe a set tax on goods purchased across the board would help ease the gap the most... at least, it would allow individuals the freedom to decide their futures wealth a bit more than being put in a tax bracket. If the 1% want all the luxury items, they'd be paying more taxes and be eliminating tax loopholes. There would also be the added benefit of foreign shoppers contributing to tax wealth, when purchases from the U.S.A. were made.

Additionally, the fed needs to be taxed at a higher rate. If they took on the toll of handling financial affairs, then they should also take on the burden of paying into its repair when they don't live up to what they were meant to do in the first place. Absolutely no accountability, and that is absurd.

So when Clinton signed nafta and allowed all the corporations to outsource our work, the rich CEO'S continue to get richer and the middle class and poor folks lose more jobs and more money. Just goes to show that both sides work for the same goal which is to f us all over and continue to line their pockets.

How sad, you didn't even go to the link provided and read my post.

I'll provide it here for you, but unfortunately, I can't read it for you.

I do need to know one thing, you write," You haven't proofed anything..." Do you mean proofed, as in checked for facts and errors, or are you illiterate and mean proved? In either case, you are wrong.
I checked their sources:
Motherjones.com according to groupsnoops,” Mother Jones is one of the largest liberal magazines in the United States.[1] Based in San Francisco…
www.groupsnoop.org...
Hmmm, a liberal magazine in bed with the current regime.

Next source.
Danariely.com, he is a professor at Duke University. Here is what some of his students have to say about him at ratemyprofessors.com:
www.ratemyprofessors.com...
“Genius, but not a very good professor. He was very unreachable and understandably completely irrational.” And “Ariely is a very interesting man, but as a professor he is lacking. His accent and subpar English make him difficult to understand, and his lectures are all over the place. Furthermore, he is entirely disengaged from his students. His assistant Aline takes care of all testing and grading, and unfortunately she's largely incompetent”
Hmmm, irrational, difficult to understand, and has an incompetent assistant.

Next source.
thinkprogress.org, according to PJ Media:
pjmedia.com...
Think Progress is an unofficial auxiliary of the Democratic Party, apparently run with the singular purpose of generating reams of dubious (and sometimes shockingly bad) propaganda. One of their more recent abortive efforts was to fabricate a video that they they would like to use as evidence supporting the popular left-wing meme that the growing tea party movement is chock-full of racists.”
And The Atlantic Wire reports that this popular Gay Lesbian Transsexual Bisexual organization just had Google’s Red Screen of Doom.
www.theatlanticwire.com...
Now for the last very very credible source, this bogus Uboob video lists, are you ready? CNN!
www.youtube.com...

More FAKE reporting from CNN:
www.knowthelies.com...
www.theatlantic.com...
www.survivalandbeyond.net...

This is a totally bogus video and needs to be in the HOAX Forum!
But the sheeple will go Behhhh Bhhhaa Obhhaaaa Obhaaamaaaa

I want you to ask yourself a question: why should wealth be divided? There is a difference between the working class and the upper class. The main difference being that the majority of the upper class (at least those not born into their wealth) made their wealth on their own. There is a mind set, something not taught in school. You can't simply learn how to do it. You either are born with it or you're not. It's called knowing how to screw other people out of their wealth or, in modern terms, capitalism.

It's nothing but a hustle. People learn how most humans respond to any given circumstance and capital on it... thus, capitalism. It's an opportunist market and it always has been. Now don't get me wrong, I spit on those born into wealth that wish to dictate unto the rest of us. But those who made it? Can you really blame them?

The liberal ideal does not work. Socialism, communism, corporatism. It doesn't work. You need a FREE market... something we don't have in America anymore. That is the problem. You don't hand out wealth, you out out opportunity. Without opportunity, you have fascism, which is the road we're going down.

Stop hating the rich because they're rich and start looking for solutions instead of handouts. That's the way this country was built.

Hmmm, a liberal magazine in bed with the current regime.
Hmmm. That is surely your opinion and not proof that the OP is wrong

Hmmm, irrational, difficult to understand, and has an incompetent assistant.
Hmmm. More opinions but how does that verify or invalidate the info in the OP?

thinkprogress.org, according to PJ Media:
Again you fail to address the validity of the data. Please see below

Daily finance

In terms of information, Politizane's video isn't offering anything new: Its analysis of American perceptions of wealth distribution, the line between rich and poor and the issue of America's wealth continuum echo stories that have been in the media for years.

So although I agree there are 'lies, dam lies and statistics' the video in the OP is just well known data presented in an easily understandable format.

If you really believe this is a hoax please show the DATA the video is based on is wrong or provide data that conflicts. It should not be hard for you to do if you are correct.

Who's really running this country

Is a topic that few seem to want to touch.

Anyways, to put to bluntly, those who run this country are mentally jacked up in the head. Period. They are mentally ill... Where does the line get drawn. Who's to step in and when; when and how.

And no, I'm not talking about the president and nope not the senators or the governors (although all these guys are not innocent either. They also have have morality and integrity issues and are destroying and lot of things) They are already paid for by others higher up. They are not even running the show, just appearing to look like it for the public so they can feel a sense of security.

But I'm talking about the bankers, big corporations, corporate cronies (the very wealthy), the federal reserve, pharmaceuticals, lobbyists and stock traders (wallstreet)... among others.

If you disagree, which is cool, then who do you think is running the show?

I would sure appreciate it, since I hate feeling like I'm being screwed by pasty boat shoe wearing, cashmere swear sleeve tying, crybabies whose trust funds and inside track lanes are the reason why no one else can get funding for start-ups.

I look forward to your clarifying links and overview.

You don't get it. The best propaganda is the truth. There is nothing to refute of the data. That's ENTIRELY besides the point. The point is that this is making MSM for a REASON, and it's to influence us, through our emotional and spiritual yearnings for equality and freedom, to push an agenda which does much harm to us.

We are unwittingly playing into the hands of evil men with master plans.

What's the point in being equally enslaved with billions of dollars a piece, if it won't even buy a loaf of bread
