My question is WHY are any of you worried about this video? I have one very simple question for everyone here...If the SHTF, would you give ten pounds of gold for a potato? Would I take it?

ETA: Answer those two questions, and you begin to comprehend true wealth.

Statistics by themselves are worthless. Add the statistics of education earned to this and see the story. I've read a lot of baseless assumptions about the rich (they're lazy, don't work hard, are thieves). Undoubtedly true in many instances, but most of the rich are probably ruthless and work hard and have knowledge we don't. Not all education is formal. Generational knowledge is powerful.

Down on the lowly left of the statistics are high-school dropouts, maybe some graduates of high school; few college grads. Yet a person with an MA can be an idiot about making money as can a cafe owner working harder than anyone (but apparently not smarter than anyone).

Having said that, I don't think any CEO should make millions of dollars a year and stockholders should have a say in what these guys make. I live toward the left of the stats and know for a fact that I'm lazy, happy with comfort and easily satisfied. I certainly don't have any right to the wealthy people on the right of the statistics and neither do you. Would I like to see the wealthy flood our country with spending dollars. Yup. Their choice, though.

Very good thread. I already knew it was like this because I looked at the breakdown a couple of years ago. Not many of the super rich lost money in the last stock market crash, their sell-offs caused the stock market collapse then they re-bought low and got richer. This is what we let them create. Most of this money has left the country also and there is no taxes being paid on the money they made here in the USA

I love the Monty Python Holy Grail movie where King Arthur is talking to the Peasants.......

Title: The Peasants
From: Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Transcribed By: Malcolm Dickinson ( [email protected] )

Arthur and his trusty servant Patsy "ride" into a field where peasants are
working. They come up behind a cart which is being dragged by a hunched-over
peasant in ragged clothing. Patsy slows as they near the cart.

Arthur: Old Woman!

The peasant turns around, revealing that he is in fact a man.

Man: Man!
Arthur: Man, sorry.... What knight lives in that castle over there?
Man: I'm thirty-seven!
Arthur: (suprised) What?
Man: I'm thirty-seven! I'm not old--
Arthur: Well I can't just call you "man"...
Man: Well you could say "Dennis"--
Arthur: I didn't know you were called Dennis!
Man: Well, you didn't bother to find out, did you?!
Arthur: I did say sorry about the "old woman", but from behind, you looked--
Man: Well I object to your...you automatically treat me like an inferior!
Arthur: Well I *am* king...
Man: Oh, king, eh, very nice. And 'ow'd you get that, eh?
(he reaches his destination and stops, dropping the cart)
By exploiting the workers! By 'angin' on to outdated imperialist dogma
which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.
If there's ever going to be any progress,--
Woman: Dennis! There's some lovely filth down 'ere!
(noticing Arthur) Oh! 'Ow'd'ja do?
Arthur: How do you do, good lady. I am Arthur, king of the Britons. Whose
castle is that?
Woman: King of the 'oo?
Arthur: King of the Britons.
Woman: 'Oo are the Britons?
Arthur: Well we all are! We are all Britons! And I am your king.
Woman: I didn't know we 'ad a king! I thought we were autonomous collective.
Man: (mad) You're fooling yourself! We're living in a dictatorship! A
self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes--
Woman: There you go, bringing class into it again...
Man: That's what it's all about! If only people would--
Arthur: Please, *please*, good people, I am in haste! WHO lives in that
castle?
Woman: No one lives there.
Arthur: Then who is your lord?
Woman: We don't have a lord!
Arthur: (spurised) What??
Man: I *told* you! We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune! We're taking
turns to act as a sort of executive-officer-for-the-week--
Arthur: (uninterested) Yes...
Man: But all the decisions *of* that officer 'ave to be ratified at a
special bi-weekly meeting--
Arthur: (perturbed) Yes I see!
Man: By a simple majority, in the case of purely internal affairs--
Arthur: (mad) Be quiet!
Man: But by a two-thirds majority, in the case of more major--
Arthur: (very angry) BE QUIET! I *order* you to be quiet!
Woman: "Order", eh, 'oo does 'e think 'e is?
Arthur: I am your king!
Woman: Well I didn't vote for you!
Arthur: You don't vote for kings!
Woman: Well 'ow'd you become king then?
(holy music up)
Arthur: The Lady of the Lake-- her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite,
held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by
divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why
I am your king!
Man: (laughingly) Listen: Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords
is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power
derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some... farcical
aquatic ceremony!
Arthur: (yelling) BE QUIET!
Man: You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some
watery tart threw a sword at you!!
Arthur: (coming forward and grabbing the man) Shut *UP*!
Man: I mean, if I went 'round, saying I was an emperor, just because some
moistened bink had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
Arthur: (throwing the man around) Shut up, will you, SHUT UP!
Man: Aha! Now we see the violence inherent in the system!
Arthur: SHUT UP!
Man: (yelling to all the other workers) Come and see the violence inherent
in the system! HELP, HELP, I'M BEING REPRESSED!
Arthur: (letting go and walking away) Bloody PEASANT!
Man: Oh, what a giveaway! Did'j'hear that, did'j'hear that, eh? That's
what I'm all about! Did you see 'im repressing me? You saw it,
didn't you?!

This is great for all poor and middle class people. If you understand the difference in money and currency then you understand that the wealth structure is about to change big time. All the rich people have the riches in dollars, this is their fall. True wealth is in property, business, and money (gold and silver). Silver and property are dirty cheap, I mean you can buy an ounce for about 30 dollars. Take this opportunity to screw the bankers and elite and stock up on all the silver and property you can. Once you understand what money really is you will never worry again

Why is it a bogus video? You haven't proofed anything in your post, but unconfirmed slander.

How sad, you didn't even go to the link provided and read my post.

I'll provide it here for you, but unfortunately, I can't read it for you.

I do need to know one thing, you write," You haven't proofed anything..." Do you mean proofed, as in checked for facts and errors, or are you illiterate and mean proved? In either case, you are wrong.
...

What a sad way to make your argumentation. You even uploaded a picture to ridicule me, without even looking at your own post. I thought ATS was about collective research?

It's irrelevant what I do. I'm not in the top 1%. You people are retarded thinking that the top 10% just play golf all day.

Maybe that's why you're so jealous. Freaking morons. You're unwittingly playing into the true elites games by dividing the UPPER MIDDLE CLASS from the MIDDLE CLASS. The UPPER MIDDLE CLASS is not ELITE, and DOES NOT play golf all day, or lobby congress.

10% is OVER 30 MILLION.

Does anyone need anymore explanation than that?

Like the video stated, communism and socialism are not the answer but there has got to be a better way.

Enough is enough.

That is the major situation.
WHy?
May I answer?
The Uber Rich of the New Day. There are newly rich kids who have no concern cause they came out of trust funds set up by what was once a Patriotic American Business owner or Corporationsfor their kids.
This generation has no real Patriotism as once in the days of old. Why, cause these Corps and owners paid almost 62% tax and didn't move out.
They're a Brotherhood against you and I. We must be a brotherhood under no god to win.

It's going to happen again, the stock market is way up so the super rich are selling off stock left and right and when it crashes they will be there to buy it all back up again.

Look at the arguing we have here. Can you imagine if all of the US was logged on to ATS? Can you imagine the cluster f#!$ of arguing then? I get everyone has their own opinion, I just feel that we could communicate more constructively. There is no question that the work class is getting "the shaft" for the almighty dollar. Add in the fact that that same dollar you work so hard to put in your pocket is losing it's value, something has to be done. I hate when I hear people say things like, "There's nothing we can do, it's too late." I don't operate like that. Anything you put your mind to is possible. Are people waiting on some one to come riding in and round everyone up to march to Washington? It starts with you. You take the necessary steps to do your part and try to educate and motivate others to do the same. It's time for a change. Not tomorrow, not the next day, RIGHT NOW! I say let's all get motivated and know that we did our best. Instead of going down, knowing we were wronged, too busy arguing with our neighbor on how we were wronged. Or just how bad we were wronged. There is a solution. But it's not an easy one.

Let's get up people.

Great thread.

We all new this in the back of our minds, however, when you the see the numbers in actuality, it is a slap in the face, as already stated.

It is an old saying, The rich get richer and the poor eat crap". How do we change the status quo? The rich have the backing of (excuse me i meant, own) the governments.

Good Post.
This about sums it up here what many are screaming about.
Equal Opportunity Governmental Policies and Equal representation for all.
As long as there are those that use their wealth to subvert that process, we end up De-Evolving as a country back to what we escaped from to begin with.

I knew some of the elite from say forty years ago. They were good people. If you wanted to work and tried to do a good job, they would give you work at a decent wage. The New rich are not that way, they look at profits and exported the jobs of those who wanted to work. Sure, there are those that want a job and don't want to work but there are still many that want to work. The problem is these good workers are not pushy but the ones who just want a good job get promoted in the company and the good workers get laid off. Now the lazy workers say, lets get stuff from china and I'll take a raise. Now everyone is broke on the bottom and soon nobody is going to be buying anything because they owe too much already. Hopefully the big owners of these corporations can understand they have been duped and they will go down in history as bad people because they believed a lie. We have only one life to live and our mark in this world is in whom remembers us in a positive way.

I know there are still good elite out there.

That's a very eye-opening video. Depressing as hell at first sight, but eye-opening.

Judging from the responses I did read people seem to be up in arms, upset, about the disparity. People also seem to be deluded about the disbursement of the wealth. This tells me 2 things: People are focusing on the negatives that they have wrong anyway. Here's a thought......people need to quit wanting more money because it aint coming down the pike. The video, with proven facts, shows us that. There are so many studies like these....

www.huffingtonpost.com...

business.time.com...

.......that I don't even know why people try anymore. Quit basing your happiness on wealth and you might sleep better at night. The way I see it is that money is something that can be taken from you very easily from someone with a gun or mad hacking skills. Of course you need money to get by, but that's where the focus should end. From there people need to focus more on a) how they're able to get work, b) their work ethic itself, and c) what it all does for THEM. Not the people they're working for.

How do you get work? You have to be educated in some fashion. You know how big companies buy other smaller ones to diversify their professional portfolio? Get an education to get a job, do well at it for a number of years and then get yet ANOTHER education, formal not doesn't matter, so you can find something else should you need to in the future. Diversify your educational portfolio.

While working, put more out then you need to. Whether it's intellectually, physically or both, give 110% every day. Don't do it for someone else. Don't do it for a bigger raise that probably aint coming anyway. Be selfish and do it for yourself. Move quick and think quick and you'll be able to learn things quicker and you'll keep yourself in shape. Your mental and physical stamina will increase and you'll feel better about yourself. So your job is getting more bang for their buck. Good for them, but better for you because you're improving your own quality of life by educating yourself on your current job, (and getting paid for it at the same time) which you can take to the next, and the next, and the next like a snowball rolling down the hill getting bigger, and improving your own physical well being. The better shape you're in the longer you'll live, the better you'll sleep and, if anything else, your sex life will go through the roof. All of those combined will improve your chances in getting a better job down the line.

All of this comes down to education. It's not money in that it's not something someone else can take from you. Talk to other people who think the same way and you'll get the picture that that is where happiness comes from. The peace of mind of knowing that the education you gave yourself no one else can take from you. It's also a peace of mind knowing that while jobs, like women, come and go, with more knowledge under your belt you're not going to worry about keeping work. You'll always be able to get it. Nobody appreciates a dumb f**k.

Yes, I fully intend on leaving my daughter a small fortune when I go or die trying. It'll give her a leg up on the competition. But what will help her more will be what's up in her head that will ensure she'll be able to keep, and add, to that "wealth". People can have their backbiting, competitive lifestyle and get pissed when they don't measure up to others. Whatever blows your hair back. I'm going to keep pushing myself for my own gain, not intentionally hurt anyone along the way and give more then I take.

Again Noreaster, good video and good topic. I just wish people would stop competing with others for something they're not going to get anyway and start looking out more for their own. I provide for my daughter and that's it. I love the simplicity of it all.

Wow, this seems like a pretty ignorant post.

Who do you think pay taxes to finance the bailouts of big rich corporations?

Is it YOU? The answer is unfortunately Yes.

And you say you are against redistribution of the wealth when this is what's already going on in your country? The only thing is that the distribution goes from the poor (bottom) to the riches (top). It should go the other way or at least not at all. The governemnt takes hard earned money from the population to give it back to big corporations. Thank you gov!!

That's what you think is good for a society? If so, then im sorry to tell you that people like you are the biggest problem in the world's economy. You must be one of those "hard" working lazy big fat a$$es that profits from the actual system.

I don't have a problem with folks keeping what they earned, but back in my day, we had this thing called "an honest profit" which meant you didn't scrape your customers for every last nickle...I don't see that anymore...some of these monkeys will burn the folks for every last cent. Greed is a sorry thing.
