Where's Kano when we need him the most?! We are in the middle of a full-fledged drama event and need to have the Boardland Sanity Advisory System adjusted so I know just how dramatic to be.

Speaking your mind will never get you band unless it is malicious towards a member. Just wanted to make that clear to some people here.

Silver still dont have an answer clarifying your statment. Could you please be a little more specific or break it down for me???

Each post which was part of the digital play had a tag that now shows this:

This post was part of a special Halloween Homage to Orson Wells.

Ahhh...well...folks...

In retrospect, yes it was a good HOAX, but the timing was poor, and it was done in poor taste...

The only thing that had my gut clinched was this...

First report from our embedded reporter. I'm recalling what she radioed in just minutes ago.

She was escorted to a command center off Trenton Road in a field. From there, she was taken to what has been called "the crash site". She described what to her looked like a "rocket cylinder", yellow/white in color, about 1/3 in the ground. The ground was scorched and a number of trees were blown over. Despite the damage to the trees and ground, the cylinder seemed intact.

The area was surrounded with the equipment we saw being removed at the BCC staging area last night. But some of it was being packed up. She said someone told her the area was no longer radioactive, as the radiation from the cylinder stopped this morning.

She wasn't allowed to take pictures, only report her story back to us on a secure radio provided by DHS. A Colonel in charge of the operation mentioned similar cylinders outside San Diego, Cleveland, Oklahoma City, and reports of impacts in seven other states (apparently not yet located).

This I thought was a nuke strike against us...

You stupid bastards really blew it this time

I loved it!

Reminds me of when I was 20. My friend, lived next to the Swiftex National Guard Base outside McDade. I woke up there with the ole' lady at sunrise to automatic weapons fire, heilocopters, paratroopers, grenades, tanks, boom boom boom... Scared the hell out of me until I found out it was the yearly war games right accross the road!

Don't do it again! You were bad!

Would you see it as a HOAX, or as an attack ??

Still you haven't answered my question, a HOAX, or an attack ??

Heh. If you didn't like this one you'd of hated the '03 April fools joke. Seriously. You'd have wanted to shoot the staff.

That prank was in a time of seriously increased paranoia after the introduction of the patriot act and the imminent invasion of Iraq. The premise of that prank (the DHS putting a representative on ATS) would seem absurd at the moment, but it didn’t seem so crazy then.

A lot of people were pissed off about it, but what it taught me and not a few others was to put whatever level of paranoia we had about current events into perspective.

This one has the same message.

Jedi you dont understand no questions get answered in relation to this occurance. If they answer and answer incorrectly it is taking blame on their part. They cant take blame or say it is wrong for the implication. Its a waste of our time to address the issue and I think that is the point that is being made by dodging all of our questions.

Dunno, I can't conceive of a person involved in these topics on ATS who is unaware of such an important event in the history of the media's power over people's opinions. When we consider things like this on ATS, we don't "dumb down" to the lowest common denominator. Instead, we assume our members are astute and able to discern things like this. And in reality, as I've said, many did. Also, many of the details altered for current-time for the script were absurd on purpose (such as a military transport jet in a community college parking lot).

I got caught in one of the first posts and fell for it but after a few more posts came up even I (as old and slow as I am [although NOT old enough to remember the original]) caught on. I was caught and I admit it - and I'm not even p-o'd about it.

Heck it just goes to show everyone you have to think about everything -- after all isn't that why we are here to get us to think more. So instead of just reacting to what you read - do some searches for more information, think, question and then make your decisions.

So to borrow someone's very good saying -- What would Skippy do?

Jesus, do I have to spell it out?

Dictionary.com: Hoax
hoax Audio pronunciation of "hoax" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (hks)
n.

1. An act intended to deceive or trick.

D.com: Prank
prank1 Audio pronunciation of "prank" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prngk)
n.

A mischievous trick or practical joke.

I can see the difference. No deception on prank. Why can't you grasp"prank" but cling tenaciously to hoax?
