Let me first of all say I am truly sorry to hear about what happened to your uncle and I totally understand why you would feel angry....but I wonder if you realize that since Oct last year there is a ban on age discrimination in the UK within the NHS and it is now illegal for anyone working in the NHS to not refer or treat someone based purely an age. It is not just a moral issue it is actually criminal now....and those elderly who are denied treatment just an age ground's can sue!

I know this doesn't change the situation regarding your uncle...but it doe's mean that this kind of discrimination is less likely now....but I don't blame you if you don't gain any comfort from that...I just thought it was important and relevant to point out the change's regarding elderly patient's.

They call it the Sickness industry for a reason and that's the reason

Okay. I guess I'll be "that" guy.

(Caveat first. My uncle died last year because of kidney failure. He was told by Britain's NHS that he was too old to be put on a transplant list.
So I've a personal issue with this.)

This is what the American healthcare system will be once Obamacare comes to the fore. Underpaid, understaffed floor nurses, poor conditions, negligent medical staff, overworked, too busy to tend to the care of patients because bean-counters are determining care.

The NHS wasn't always like that... It seems to me its not in the interests of the rich any more to keep the NHS alive and kicking - They have private healthcare and they could and probably will make billions when there is no longer a free healthcare service in this country.

I personally feel that they're purposely running it down and making out like "Its just to big to be sustained"

Private industry will once again have its way with british economy, Bent over Scotland and shagged up the wrong un.

My dad died of lung cancer. The cancer spread and he had no more appetite. He died of malnutrition in the end. Even if we were there to spoon feed him nothing would be retained by the body and he didn't want it anyway. There might some cases of negligence in medical institutions but the real problem is peoples lifestyle which gets them to the hospital in he first place.

Eating habits in America are poor. Even if America has the most wealth in food. People eat crap because they are lazy.

Sleeping habits are poor. People work to the bone and then watch TV till they sleep. They sleep with the TV on getting commercials and other crap pumped into their sub-conscience.

Exercise outdoors. People are always indoors watching TV or on the PC. Getting no sunlight breathing used and soiled air. Watching the sunset cures depression and other mental ailments.

Nature is simple. Humans try to control nature and complicate it with all our great "knowledge" and "intelligence". Man belongs to earth not earth belongs to man.

Simple truths but I am sure many are guilty of these bad lifestyle choices. In Canada I pay my taxes for the people who make these poor choices. Seems more and more people made the wrong choices so now the system has to either tax me more or make cuts so I don't leave the country.

It is hard to live healthy when the devil is trying to enslave you everyday with his tasty treats and magic bullets and laugh now cry later attitude. God told us how to live and eat but we are too arrogant to listen. Sorry for the rant but I just can't help to see this unfold and people need to realize! Thank you for reading.

I am sorry about your father. That is so sad.
Additionally,I wish what you have written about work life balance was not true but I fear it is, in too many cases.
