Video: BigDog Gets New 'FacA-arm,' Hurls Cinder Blocks Like A Champ

Boston Dynamics is practically a household name around these geeky parts. The company is best known for its menacing robots, including but not limited to PETMAN, AlphaDog and BigDog. And now that last one, the 240-pound, three-foot-long, four-legged mule-bot has a fifth arm that can throw cinder blocks across the room.

Well now, Big Dog is a bit scarier...
He is still pretty noisy, so you could hear him coming.

Still, pretty impressive for a robot.
Not as impressive as if it was outfitted with
a gun turret, or lasers....

The Ultimate Goal?
"the ultimate goal for BigDog is to develop a robot that can go anywhere people and animals can go."
Boston Dynamics

Of course, its all in the way you interpret that.

That thing was creepy as hell when they demonstrated its balancing system by kicking it. Seemed almost life like. Now its hurling ciner blocks and it's made of nightmares.

I have to admit, the way it uses its balance like that to gain momentum,
it is scary. If it had two of these face arms, and can pick up anything that
would be a force to reckon with. It is plain scary!

Nice. I always regretted not going into robotics. I hope they don't give that thing AI.
