If Israel really felt threatened by "terrorist" Hamas/Gaza/Palestine etc...., page

So, Hamas is apparently a terrorist organisation and their proximity makes them a direct and imminent threat against Israel - they are right on Israel's doorstep.

So, let us consider this. A supposedly dangerous enemy is right next door and is a direct and imminent threat to your citizens, infrastructure, continuity and sovereignty and has attacked you multiple times.

Let us also consider the USA. On September 11th 2001, two planes were flown into the World Trade Center, New York with several more attacks occurring. In response, the United States began the War on Terror - without further do, the United States invaded Afghanistan (claiming that terrorism was festering in this region and was a direct cause of the 9/11 attacks). Taking that as truth, the United States sought vengeance and brought the war to its enemies.

So, if Israel, with its enemies on its doorstep, really feels so much danger - surely they would completely invade Gaza/Palestine. Surely, it should conduct the ultimate war - clearing the region of the enemies? Much like the United States simply swept through Afghanistan (albeit for a decade!); surely Israel should press ahead if rockets are constantly being fired against them?

Unless of course, it's all just Israeli politics?

How many homes have the Palestinians destroyed compared to Israel? How many Palestinian civilians have died from both direct fire and sanctions compared to Israelis?
Id personally feel more threatened if I was a Palestinian than if I was an Israeli.

But dont listen to me, I dont agree with everything Israel says and does so Im obviously anti semitic

Do you not watch the news, Gaza is effectively a country under siege, their ports are blockaded and their boarders are locked down thanks mostly to Israel, who also have taken Palestinian land and for most of the time that Israel has existed it has had occupying forces in the Palestinians lands. Almost every week there is something on the news about them attacking each other.

Taking out the so called terrorist organization Hamas is the last thing Israel wants to do. If they did that then how will Israel keep crying we are the victims so they can keep begging America for money and weapons? It's funny how people call a elected organization that is defending it's homeland from a foreign invader is called a terrorist. If anyone is the terrorist in this ordeal it's Israel.

No joke here. In this conflict Israel is the terrorist. The ever expanding Israeli border shows how their terrorist activities is working.

Firing rockets at civilians is terrorism. Hamas and Hezbollah do that to Israelis. At one point, Israel occupied the entirety of the West Bank and Gaza. They passed administration of these areas over to the Palestinians with the understanding that the Palestinian Authority would prevent terrorist attacks against Israel. The PA has been ineffective in doing this, so you can't really blame Israel if they consider the deal to be off. Israel's expansion back into the territories they ceded is due to the success of Palestinian terrorism.

Do you even know that it is against international law to annex land by force? They just use the terrorist excuse to steal more land. Also Israel is known for breaking peace treaties when it suits them.

If it is against international law to annex land by force, Hamas and Hezbollah's attempt to seize the land of Israel is illegal. At least we can both agree on that.

All nations do. The question is, why do some Palestinians break a treaty that could benefit their people as a whole? Wouldn't it be great if Palestinians and Israelis could live peaceably and develop their economies together?

Palestinian has a right to defend themselves, right..??? Israel shelling/air raiding and blockading illegally so they shoot their rockets at as protest.

Tit for tat. Why is so difficult to understand this..?

OP, Lame thread to be honest. You tried proving a point against Israel but all you did was show you lack any real clue about the region and the conflict.
If Hamas had specific military zones or bases, or if they'd operate from their own territories and now from civilian ones, it would be alot easier for Israel to demolish them with no outcry about how they are ruthlessly killing civilians.

Seeing as they are embedded into civilian population, Israel cannot simply invade and take them out without causing devastating damage to civilians and innocents in Gaza.

Also, Israel did launch a ground offensive against Gaza.

As for buster's comments, the usual ranting about crimes against humanity and what-not, I just love how you conveniently forget that the same UN schools that were bombed, were also used by Hamas.

Also, civilians in Gaza die not because Israel targets them on purpose (as if there is something to gain by killing civilians - public outcry, bad image, more anger etc - if you actually took the time to think about it you'd see that the only side to gain something by civilian deaths is Hamas), but because Hamas operates from within society so they could either be shielded as much as possible by the civilians, or they get to lure Israel into killing them.
