Obama, "I am not a dictator"

Yes, he said that.

The President's surprise remarks followed his eleventh-hour meeting with Congressional leaders to discuss the sequester. But with Congress adjourned for a three-day weekend recess, there was little chance that the talks would result in a solution.

"I am not a dictator, I'm the President," Obama said. "Ultimately, if Mitch McConnell or John Boehner say, we need to go to catch a plane, I can't have Secret Service block the doorway."

"I can't do a Jedi mind-meld" to force Congress to agree to a deal, he added

I find that statement somewhat amusing.

Doesn't Obama dictate what healthcare we should have?
Doesn't he dictate what our "fair share" should be?
Doesn't he dictate what the press should say?

Obama is frustrated. The sequester is happening. Something he said he'd veto if anyone tried to stop it.

What I find encouraging is that once the dust settles, people will find that we can do without some things, that government DOESN'T need to be everywhere.
That government CAN survive with less.

That government should have less. It doesn't need more taxes. It doesn't need more of our money.

That's the ultimate scare of sequestration. It'll show that we don't need government.

EXXON,The Koch bros and others have enjoyed being dictators
without tax burdens long enough. Gold plated schools anyone?

Exxon makes about 11 billion with a "B" IN PROFIT, every 3 months.
Without a cent being paid in taxes. To put that in perspective the big fight
in Wisconsin over their budget for the next few years was less than 1 billion.
Or about 1/11th of EXXON's 3 month profits.
Tax em. Tax em hard and Tax em fair.

He asked for a vote by the house and senate, which the house and senate passed - Obama signed into law

Again, house and senate vote on all bills, not the president "Dictating".

your forgeting legislation made it so these mega corporations don’t have to pay taxes. Who makes legislation? GOVERNMENT! Who is easily bought off? GOVERNMENT! Government is the problem! Who will not reverse legislation so these MEGA corps have to pay taxes again? GOVERNMENT!

Jedi's can influence those of weaker mind. I find it ironic Obama would make a comment about that (if he knew the true application of Jedi powers ofcourse ) and suggest he had hopped to influence the weak minded.

I think many of us here are of sound mind and will not fall for any political Jedi manipulation

There is a congress, senate, and judicial system.

Last time it was the fiscal cliff, this time its called "sequestration".

Sorry. its more like the two party system has to have somebody to blame why they just can't keep from "making cuts". Cuts to you. Not to them... to you ! Across the aisle: "Its not our fault, its theirs." 'No its not, Its theirs!" That way you see nothing gets done and they can blame each other. While you pay. Somebody has to pay.
And Obama can orate in the middle about not being able to do a thing because "he's not a dictator".
