Great post OP really outdated but still a good read. Funny how there was never really a update on it. Is there a way to find out the names of the people who were working on the dig?

Should be used to it I guess...

Where is the update on the Pyramid shaft, the lead coffin burrito, the lake Vosik anomaly, the Baltic sea annomaly and so many more...

All hidden in vast caverns, deep under the Vatican. And, they just fired the one man who wanted to start coming clean on some of the story. They said on MSM today after he said goodbye, he just turned around, and was escorted to his new *vacation* retirement home. Wonder if he has a nice new *vacation* ankle bracelet too....

I was just meandering in my imagination in the above post....but...I will add here, I do think there were Giants who walked the Earth at one time. Starting about 12-14 ft height on up.....

There were "rumors" that US Army, during the War, has found some strange ancient artifacts in the Iraqi desert and secretively... missed out. Maybe this is one of them.

I'm loving the idea of this! Best conspiracy in ages.

TOP JOB!

Sounds like a "tall tale" to me.

Nooo... tales never grow in the telling.

I caught a fish once that was bigger than anything ever caught at the lake.

Where is it?

Oh it got away.

2000 years later its, "20 foot tall alien scaled reptilians from UFOs built the pyramids with magic".

All from a two pound Lake Trout I was too clumsy to keep on the hook.

It's still speculation.
But digging around the interwebz for a bit, reveals a tons of interesting articles.
I found this to be interesting:

Dateline: 03/25/03

When the Gulf War ended, looters smuggled thousands of artifacts out of Iraq. Many other priceless monuments from thousands of years old civilizations were left lying around to be destroyed carelessly and casually. With the new U.S. - Iraq war, the specter looms of smart bombs hitting thousands upon thousands of archaeological treasure troves. This is such a serious concern that the Pentagon employed a team of archaeologists to mark out the precious spots. Even assuming the team had enough information from earlier trips to the area to map everything, and assuming the Pentagon had enough time to apply the data, there would still be the probability that no matter how smart the bombs, they would occasionally err. But that is not the case, and there are many archaeological sites in Iraq that haven't been explored. There is a real likelihood of massive destruction of six or seven thousand-year-old treasures from the cradle of the world's civilizations -- Mesopotamia (modern Iraq), the land between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.

source
Not entirely sure if the Pentagon had it's hands in this, but somehow wiki confirms it:

In the months preceding the 2003 Iraq war, starting in December and January, various antiquities experts, including representatives from the American Council for Cultural Policy asked the Pentagon and the UK government to ensure the museum's safety from both combat and looting. Although promises were not made, U.S. forces did avoid bombing the site.

source

There might be something to this? Maybe someone knows more?

Interesting and significant find OP. The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of my favorite stories/myths of old and I believe the discovery of his tomb has some significance to modern times, as there is a connection to Joseph who prophesied of our time.

This reader is a but green but if you would like to have the The Epic of Gilgamesh read to you, it is here:

If this is of interest, you will need to click through to YouTube for the rest of the story.

GREAT Exhibition at PergamonMuseum in Berlin

Uruk. 5000 Years of the Megacity.

www.uruk-megacity.de...

The excavation
After the German Oriental Society was granted the necessary license from the Ottoman Empire, German teams commenced excavation work in Uruk in November 1912. The turbulent political situation and ensuing military conflict soon put a stop to their endeavour, setting a trend that has sadly continued to affect work at the site repeatedly to this day. More than forty excavation campaigns have taken place so far in all. Even though less than five percent of the huge area that once made up the city has been explored so far, the current findings provide us with a wealth of details on the ancient Near-Eastern city of Uruk.

The tomb of Gilgamesh certainly is an exciting find - but what exactly is going on with the internet these days that a ten year old BBC article is being revived like this - and posted like it was breaking news? There hasn't been any update to the original BBC article since 2003! Seriously - 2003!

A bit of sleuthing offers a possible reason for this "Gilgamesh Tomb Discovery" repost of a 2003 BBC article - and that reason is Adsense (and other blog advertising in general). A lot of bloggers are desperate for content for their blogs because they use that content to attract eyeballs and to reap advertising dollars. Content = Adsense = $$$. They don't care where they get that content - even an old BBC article will work.

AFAIK, the BBC article was copied by a blogspot blogger (I won't bother naming them) in 2011 and posted to their blog crammed full of every type of advertising apparently in existence. Call me a cynic but when I see bloggers running mediocre blogs of plagiarized long-out-of-date content in an attempt to cash in on Google's Adsense (or other form of advertising) I tend to blacklist such sites as pointless wastes of time. But in this case, after said blogger resuscitated said 10-year old BBC article, it also attracted a host of other blogger/plagiarists who I'll assume run tools like 'text scrapers' as a means of generating filched content for their sites, to also cash in on advertising dollars. This apparently led sites like "Before It's News" and "Disclose.TV" to also 'pick up' the story - never-mind the fact it's a 10-year old story - in what one can only assume is the same greed for advertising dollars that led those smaller bloggers to filch the story in the first place. (I'll concede some may have simply been duped into thinking this was 'breaking' - but a review of the sites running it all appear to have advertising revenue of their primary motivation).

FTR the OP on ATS certainly can't be blamed, not for posting a OLD discovery as if it were breaking news, when you see a highly interesting topic appearing on several Web sites in a short spate of time it would look like a breaking news story to anyone. It's the sort of thing that usually comes out in the wash however - it's taught me time and again to ALWAYS dig back to the very original source of the article - get past the wall of monetized blogs, monetized YouTube channels and monetized commercial sites like 'Beforeitsnews' of Disclose.TV' and you'll see whether you have a real news-worthy article or something that being treated like a piece of meat for the ad-revenue generators.

In the black-hat SEO blogosphere, bloggers will run 'scrapers' which are bots that 'scrape up' text articles based on keywords, and will copy that text and post it to the admins blog like it was freshly generated content. The sole purpose is nothing more than to cram blogs full of generated content that can then be monetized via adsense or advertising. I can think of no other reason why any blogger in his/her right mind would post to their blog an old article verbatim without acknowledging the dates.

My apologies OP, a great discovery but it's not new - I have no doubt you posted this with the best of intentions, it just seems several sites got caught up in this, causing a lot of people to view this as something recent.

Call it coincidence, but UFOlogists Tom Horn and Steve Quayle were just talking about the Tomb of Gigamesh last week on Quayle's radio program which goes out to many nations.

Tom Horn is a top selling author in the religious community. He has stated in his books and on radio that he believes the main reason the United States invaded Iraq was because of the potential discovery of stargates in Iraq, especially in Sumer, where he believes the Genesis 6 Nephilim incursion occurred. The discovery of Gilgamesh's tomb happened JUST BEFORE the US invasion of Iraq in the spring of 2003. Tom Horn doesnt believe this is coincidence.

By the way, Tom Horn is the author of Petras Romanus, and is credited for predicting that Benedict would resign this year. He has a new book coming out this spring where he says (on radio) that he will disclose information regarding alien top secret stuff in the US. There's too much to this story to write it all down. I would suggest listening to the radio program.

Here's the link to the Tom Horn, Steve Quayle radio program in Jan. 2013 where they talk about the Tomb of Gilgamesh. It's blended into the main topic which is the resignation of Pope Benedict, and the possible rise of Petras Romanus. Need to be patient and listen to the whole program.

I hope they find material for DNA tests, even though if they find the odds are that any anomalous evidence pointing out to the Anunnaki, will be "lost" for the sake of the status quo.

Coincidence that Zecharia Sitchin got sick and died right after he started pushing the scientific community for DNA tests in the remains of the queen Puabi, whom he affirmed would definitely prove the existence of the Anunnaki???

A 2006 FBI task force investigated defense contractors suspected of bribery and fraud also discovered some were also collecting and smuggling Iraqi artifacts into the United States.

Through the investigation, agents discovered the terra cotta pieces which the FBI Art Crime Team verified as authentic.

"In addition to identifying a significant contract fraud scheme, we get to return to the people of Iraq these priceless, ancient artifacts," said Ronald Hosko, Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal Division at the FBI's Washington Field Office.

Other pieces were discovered on Craigslist, an Internet advertising service.

In September 2010, undercover agents contacted an antiques seller, then a member of the U.S. Army, advertising on the site.

Agents met him in his home, where he showed off a thick slab of marble from Saddam Hussein's palace in Baghdad. Before the piece was seized, the man explained he bought the marble from a vendor in Iraq.

The United States has returned about 1,200 artifacts to Iraq, said Kumar Kibble, deputy director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

The value of the returned items has not been determined, and not all of them were priceless.

And

Iraqi diplomats in Germany have stopped the sale of 28 Mesopotamian artifacts believed to have been smuggled from the country in the years since the 2003-U.S. invasion.

And there is more

Meanwhile, artifacts are surprisingly absent from the ever-hungry illegal market. "Artifacts aren't turning up yet," says Seth Richardson of Chicago's Oriental Institute. "The market's too hot. People don't want to trade them, for good reasons and
bad." "We'll probably have to wait four or five years for this stuff to turn up. And it could be anywhere -- London, New York, Geneva, Tokyo."

What is known is the shocking breadth of looting, with satellite images showing ancient sites turned into chessboards of square-shaped holes. "There's been more dirt moved after the (2003) war by looters than there ever was by archaeologists and looters combined before the war," says Stone.

I wonder how much more stuff has been looted, and secretly smuggled out of the country to wealthy collectors?

Awesome discovery at Uruk in Iraq where archeologist of the Bavarian department of Historical Monuments in Munich believe they may have found the lost tomb of King Gilgamesh, the Hero, the semi-god/human, the giant of the Sumerian oldest epic saga in history, written on a set of thousands inscribed clay tablets .
(The so called "Anu.nna.ki" saga...)

news.bbc.co.uk...

In the book - actually a set of inscribed clay tablets - Gilgamesh was described as having been buried under the Euphrates, in a tomb apparently constructed when the waters of the ancient river parted following his death.

Astonishing.

Honor to the King!

SnF Arken!

Did you know that the statue that depicts him, he is clutching a Lion!

That's one big dude (I could still drop him with my M24 though
)
The way things are going, I sometimes wonder if the Nephilim will return.

First thing YES! to your post.

second thing
A giant white guy with a whip in his hand...

Strange that white people have life so good even in Asian cultures... these white bearded gods seem to have made an impression..

It strikes me that many religions say to grow a beard to have faith.. It strikes me that Ancient India and still to today they honor the light skinned ones who came and taught them about the caste system..

Great king looks like a "cracker" (a whip smacker)... I don't know the myths but it seemed the old kings all came to power as warriors, and giants...

Is Ghengis Khan a myth too? Just because it doesn't fit our current weak world?? NO. Gilgamesh gets written about BECAUSE he was real...

Ah a myth was built around him so he's not really what they are saying he is.. What of Bush? What of Clinton? What of Hussein? They are real, and a modern myth.. Still the myths about these guys that have lasted and stayed are the true ones... People need to own up and realize we aren't that creative to make up new stories... The good ones are solidly rooted in fact..

It's not like there are any other stories of gods mating with humans... It's not like "Mighty men" is a theme or anything.. It's all made up.. Only one culture talked about giants.. The Americas never saw giants.. American folklore and American Indian talk about giants is all made up too.. I just don't see the world wide evidence of giants.. I'm just blind.

I liked your post.

i'm part of the religious community and i outted this find years ago, right here on ats, in my stargates are real thread. why people insist that the anunnaki disprove the bible is beyond me. they don't disprove it, they prove it.

The Sumerians didnt bull# us maybe?

Gilgamesh's name was on the Sumerian Kings lists that were discovered a century ago.

The various kings lists from Sumer actually date to the Akkadian Empire, which later morphed into Babylonia, or later. Most kings lists date to the various Babylonian periods.

An early list, dating to just after Sargon conquered the various Sumerian city-states, has the name Gilgamesh on it as well.

Point being, these lists were compiled centuries after the period the list gives as Gilgamesh's reign. They were compiled as political tools, not as some sort of historical record.

The Sumerians never said a word about the Anunnaki. The word Anunnaki is a Babylonian term referring to a group of underworld gods. In Sumer, they were the Anunna.

No text claims that the Anunna were anything but the underworld gods. No ancient text, that is. That's a modern fringe fabrication. The "anunnaki story" you refer to, I presume, is the fiction told by Zechariah Sitchin.
